phesoJ yerTJeff NippardThis is the only guy that I fully trust about fitness. The reason? Because no matter what influencers and pros say, this man shows the truth by logically and scientifically breaking down a controversial matter such as sumo vs. conventional. I always go to his channel to seek out what is true about bodybuilding. Yes, influencers such as Alex train how they feel like training even if it’s not optimal and so do I. But knowing what is optimal or what is true is more important to me than just telling people that what works for me is optimal. Thank you Jeff, your a King.

Harry jdrhSuper useful for understanding RPEI watched the following episodes from The Jeff Nippard Podcast: Volume vs Intensity, Hard Training & Progressions (ft. Dr. Eric Helms) Failure, Fatigue & Truly HARD Training feat. John Meadows TRAINING VOLUME & HYPERTROPHY: How Much Do You Need? ft. Dr. Mike Israetel I found Jeff Nippard probably a couple to a few years ago when I first started researching how to optimize my lifting sessions. I grew to like Jeff because he shares similar goals with me (balancing getting stronger with looking better), he uses a scientific approach to training, and he produces well-structured and quality content. I was drawn to this series of his podcasts because I recently started messing with the intensity-volume spectrum in my own training. Most of my experience has consisted of sets at RPE (rate of perceived exertion) 9-10, because I didn’t feel like I was working hard enough if I did any less. I found myself mindlessly pushing 8+ sets of squats/bench with 0 reps in reserve for 3+ hours and didn’t think anything else could be more efficient. The combination of my draining workouts and the fact that Jeff Nippard deemed it necessary to create a 5-episode series on the matter inclined me to give it a listen. Some questions I had before I started listening were: Can I get similar gains with a lower RPE? Would training with a lower RPE 4 times per week be more effective than training 1-2 high RPE sessions? How much volume is enough? How much RPE is enough? Should the same RPE be used for strength training and hypertrophy? The various perspectives that this series offered has developed my understanding of the topic enough that I am confident to change up my routine. It was too difficult to decide a favorite of the podcasts I listened to because they all contributed to answering my questions. Dr. Eric Meadows bettered my understanding of the intensity-volume trade-off, Dr. Mike Israetel gave me a grasp of the pros and cons of training to failure, and John Meadows emphasized the importance of beyond-failure sets. The knowledge I’ve accumulated from this podcast is in line with what I have experienced since I’ve started the Smolov program for squat and the Smolov Jr. Program for bench. Some sets feel like cake, but my strength and size gains have been tremendous. This idea of intensity vs volume is something worth checking out for all levels of lifters, as the answers vary based on experience and lifting goals. While my issue was being too intense, a lot of lifters, like Jeff mentioned, aren’t training hard enough. This topic is definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in bettering your understanding of training.

therapynicComplete Scientific PerspectivesI am far too novice at fitness to be listening to this podcast. Though I’ve been working out consistently for a few years now, I still feel like a beginner. However, the way Jeff interviews fitness scientists about studies and meta-analyses appeals to the nerd in me and makes me feel like I, too, can become a bodybuilder. Real scientists know there are very few concrete answers to these questions, and as such, you don’t leave many episodes satisfied with a solid conclusion. However, you are more informed and can choose how to use that information in your own fitness journey.

cmarzarellaGreat podcast! This is one of my go-to podcasts. I love the intellectuality of the podcaster, the guests, and the patience and ease in which Jeff takes to explain some of the more scientific content.
-
Honestbee CustomerExcellent, Yet Infrequent PodcastExcellent Podcast with engaging, informative topics. As I am thinking about my personal question for his guests, Jeff almost seems to read my mind and asks the question without prompt. Would give it five stars if the upload frequency increased.
-
Armenia223Great content, most of the timeJeff does a really great job of delivering evidence based, practical advice and educating generally. I wish he’d skip all the virtue signaling, though. It comes across badly.

syngfanMake more! Can’t believe this went off the air for so long, just started listening but I’m already hooked. Please increase upload frequency!

Alexis0124Very informativeJeff’s podcast is very informative. He’s got well-renowned & knowledgeable guest speakers on here. I look forward to listening to this podcast every month. However, I have one issue. I’m wishing Jeff would increase the frequency of these podcasts so we don’t have to wait so long between them. Please keep these up, Jeff. I’m learning so much from you.

k8tglynnEpisode #32 👍Just listened to the informal session w/John Meadows - I learned so much. What awesome content and what a knowledgeable guy! I'm relatively new to training intelligently and realize now just how much more there is to training and progress in bodybuilding than just progressive overload and working hard. John sharing some of the nuance to the hobby and making it sustainable long term makes me excited to do it for years to come.

jduda12My go to YouTuberI was so happy to learn he has a podcast. I wish he had people in person and not over Skype for audio quality but I get that’s not always possible. Just glad someone out there has a science based way of looking at workouts and eating.
-

theperfectmerkittenInteresting and scientificI had been following Jeff’s channel on YouTube for awhile, but realized he had a podcast on here, and that’s perfect for listening to during my workouts. Jeff focuses on both strength and physique, and bases his recommendations on science but not forgetting to keep things interesting and appealing. Lots of respect for his work.
-
DoubleAgentBlueScience-Based Nutrition & ExerciseJeff is amazing at explaining training and nutrition. He asks the questions that people would want to ask leading scientists and bodybuilders on how to change and shape their bodies for the better. Thanks for your time and effort, keep it up!

Lsnyder123Nothing comparesHands down the most informative podcast about bodybuilding I’ve found to date. Learned more actionable information in two episodes of this podcast than listening to other pods for years. Well done, Jeff.
-
Beard_MasterLengthGreat content. I listen while driving I just wish the podcasts were a little shorter.
-
Jacobcohn94Great food for thoughtJeff constantly brings up new content through his channel and his podcast which is insightful to say the least. I often spend my free time outside of the classroom in the gym and on the basketball court. I have experimented with some of the ideas exchanged in his podcasts and have been able to see considerable results in my muscles and overall mood. Love these for my flights (I travel a lot for pleasure) as they keep my mind focused on working out. This helps for when I land, I’ve already reminded myself over an extended period of time on the flight not to forget my workouts on vacation.

-
DeedleluThank youThank you so much for not only putting out a smart podcast, supported by science, and broken down enough for a non-scientist to understand, but also for including female-specific information. It's nearly impossible to find so much valuable information without having to navigate a ton of BS pseudoscience. I'm not a serious athlete, just interested in getting lean and getting strong and understanding the science behind it is important to me. Thank you!

CarbsFTWIf you lift you should listenSuper informative. Professional, long-form, scientifically rooted interviews. Not silly kids yelling at each other about things only tangentially related to BB'ing, so if you're looking for a "fun" vice educational podcast then give it a skip...or give it a try and actually learn stuff. Jeff has a few obvious biases, but we all do, and he has an amazing natty physique.
