JosieGRNGreat contentThe content in this podcast is relevant and informative. 4 stars because the host interrupts her guests repeatedly and doesn’t let them finish their thoughts. The episode with Dr. Layne Norton was particularly annoying because of the hosts constant interruptions and non sequiturs.

Merlin2/14ThanksI appreciate the episode with Dr Norton, very inspiring! Steven in Houston

MalloryguinandUseful but too longI like the topics of the podcasts but they are too long, unfortunately I start to zone out and then I am not able to learn anything.
-
tyhauserSo much interruptingI decided to listen to the episode with Alan Bacon on weight loss Plateau and she interrupted him so much that he couldn’t answer her own questions. Towards the beginning, she asked where would people start, but then kept asking him other questions and the original question was never answered if people should start with restricting calories and losing fat or maintaining or increasing calories while working on muscle. It could have been such a more articulate podcast, but she kept throwing a million questions at him every five seconds.

Jeff VirkusA Must Listen To Enhance Your HealthspanI can’t recommend Dr. Gabrielle Lyon’s podcast enough! She’s an absolute powerhouse when it comes to medical advice and fitness tips. Dr. Lyon really drives home the importance of muscle building—not just for fitness enthusiasts, but for overall health and longevity. Her deep knowledge of muscle-centric medicine is eye-opening, and she explains complex concepts in a way that’s easy to understand. If you’re serious about your health, this podcast is a must-listen. Dr. Lyon’s enthusiasm and expertise will leave you feeling empowered to take charge of your fitness and prioritize building muscle for a healthier future! Jeff

rayk3Mari - Voice of a Generation? 🤔LOVE Dr. Lyon - she’s intelligent & strong yet warm. I love her demeanor, the information she shares, the positive influence she has, how she’s protective of the veteran community… the list goes on! And in terms of being a podcast host, she’s able to ask the right questions and listen but also lead the conversation when needed. She’s brilliant! I’m listening to the episode with Mari Llewelyn and just wanted to mention the irony of Mari talking about the fear mongering and clout chasing that takes place in this industry - she’s someone who takes a bogus amount of unnecessary supplements and whose entire podcasting platform is predicated on what NOT to do in order to be optimally healthy, all of the hidden dangers lurking around us, etc. Even though we all know some of these things to be true, the messaging makes a difference. Her podcast up until this point has included many fear mongering guests, controversial figures and non-experts claiming to be experts (of course there are exceptions like Dr. Lyon). There are others in the health & wellness space who share similar info but do so in a manner that’s not anxiety-inducing. Perhaps this is changing - time will tell. But sometimes I think Mari appeases and says whatever she thinks those around her want to hear. I also found it odd that Dr. Lyon compared her experience as a physician studying protein metabolism for 20 yrs and caring for end-of-life patients (and the compassion fatigue that comes along with that)… to the experience of an influencer/entrepreneur with zero training, credentials or patient care experience. I’m not devaluing Mari’s work ethic - and I appreciate Dr. Lyon’s humility - it’s just not the same experience in any capacity! Mari’s success at a young age is very impressive (much of which she credits to Greg who handles the business side of things), but “Voice of a Generation” is extremely generous, in my opinion 😬 Finally, the “ultimate sign of narcissism” as per this discussion is exactly what Layne Norton does, lol! He tears down other amazing well-intentioned experts, based on a soundbite taken out of context. Calling out pseudoscience is one thing; belittling colleagues - who also know their stuff - is another.

ROC FarmerThank you!Thank you for being on the Jocko podcast! If not, I would have never known about you. I recently started listening to your podcasts and reading your book. Both are a wealth of information.

Loved Dr. BaconThank you Dr. Allan BaconI recently listened to an episode of a podcast featuring Dr. Allan Bacon, a respected expert in nutrition and dieting. This episode was a game-changer for me, offering valuable insights that have transformed how I approach my diet and overall health. Dr. Bacon’s approach to nutrition is refreshingly realistic and sustainable. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the "why" behind our eating habits, encouraging listeners to look beyond fad diets and focus on long-term, healthy eating patterns. One key takeaway from the episode was his explanation of the importance of balance and moderation. Rather than advocating for strict dietary restrictions, Dr. Bacon discussed how incorporating a variety of foods can lead to better nutritional balance and a more enjoyable eating experience. Another important lesson I learned from Dr. Bacon’s appearance was the concept of "mindful eating." He spoke about the significance of being aware of what we eat and how it affects our bodies, promoting the idea of listening to our hunger cues and eating when genuinely hungry rather than out of boredom or emotional triggers. This perspective has encouraged me to be more conscious of my eating habits, helping me make healthier choices without feeling deprived. Dr. Bacon also highlighted the importance of personalization in dieting. He emphasized that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to nutrition, and the best diet is one that fits an individual's lifestyle, preferences, and nutritional needs. This has inspired me to tailor my eating habits to suit my unique needs rather than following generic diet plans. Overall, Dr. Allan Bacon’s insights on the podcast have given me a more holistic and flexible approach to nutrition. His emphasis on balance, mindfulness, and personalization has reshaped how I think about dieting, focusing on sustainable and enjoyable eating habits rather than short-term fixes. I highly recommend this episode to anyone looking to improve their relationship with food and gain a deeper understanding of nutrition.

Yoipod4yBBGreat info but needs production structureI love the info and any scientist making science available. However, conversations get changed abruptly by her giving and ad and then back again. Please insert a musical interlude or change the voice tone to distinguish and give us some transition before and after and advertisement. Some tweaks in the intro of the guest and topic could be great as well as a conclusion. I ran thankful for the podcast I hope the feedback is helpful
-
CHORNBURGReallyI am 38 minutes in and all I’ve heard is his background.,. I have no idea who the people are who he refers to… it would be helpful if you said it’s a biography in the notes. I tune in to hear what will help me moving forward.. muscle is a topic I want to learn more about… not all this background.
-
fitgal1961LongHelpful information but podcasts are far too lengthy and need to be condensed.
-
SauipeSwimToo many assumptions, inaccessible terminology and salesyFor the most part the host and the guests sound like they are competing on who knows more buzz words or medical terminology. Also too much selling of supplements. I have listened to 5 episodes so far. I learned a few things but not sure how much longer I can stay here.
-
CZ HGreat content with poor audioThis could be my new binge podcast (love the content!) but the sound quality makes it hard to enjoy. Dr Lyon is particularly difficult to hear. Sometimes she is so quiet I have to rewind and repeat to understand what she is saying. In the same interview she will suddenly closer to the mic(?) Other than that I enjoy the guests and the topics!
-
NoGains4meGreat podcast but please speak up Dr!I love this podcast. It’s informative and just interactive enough to keep you interested while still getting to the point. Please for all of our sake though speak up or adjust your Mike Dr. Lyon, I can hardly hear half of what you say compared to most of your guests and that’s usually my favorite part!
-
GoldenGirlPianoWhirlDr. Gerard D’onofrio/ Tendon healthI thoroughly enjoyed this episode and learned a lot. I liked his demeanor. I have tendinitis, and it helped me understand my condition better.

ahkwjxEducationalSo educational, helpful and entertaining Love all the useful information I get with each episode ❤️
-
TourPresA must !What a fantastic show. Dr. Dom and Dr. Lyon de-mystify psychology, psychiatry and how we should look at our own mental health. His story alone is worth the listen. Thank you both for a fascinating show.

Review10122TED NAIMAN IS EMBARRASSINGThe episode with Ted Naiman was unbearable and a complete waste of time. What an absolute clown to have on your show. Multiple things he mentioned: “the source of your protein does not matter” basically saying animal protein and pea/soy protein are equally beneficial - what???? Also mentioned that “saturated fats are empty calories, and not very helpful” he then says we should follow the food guidelines instead. THEN, goes on and rambles about how ground beef and red meat are bad due to their saturated fat content. Ted Naiman is an absolute joke. I would take every piece of advice from this episode and do the complete opposite. THE SOURCE OF YOUR PROTEIN ABSOLUTELY MATTERS AND YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY CARE ABOUT THE PROTEIN YOU ARE CONSUMING. WE SHOULD NOT FEAR SATURATED FATS; WE ABSOLUTELY NEED THEM.
-
Kelly's BootcampExcellent Content, Relevant and RealI am grateful for the podcast on Body Composition and all of your content. The conversation about weight loss resistance and how many hit a major wall with body fat percent is something I would love more information on to help my clients who are willing to do the work and not get the results they deserve. Thank you for all that you do to help others. I have been a fitness professional for 30 years and never has anyone spoken so clearly about what I have seen firsthand with my clients.
-
Cin9642Great info Dr. Lyon!I appreciate all of the knowledge you bring the audience about protein intake, exercise, nutrition, etc! You have helped me and others beyond measure - keep up the good work!
-
CarnaroloToo many interruptions by Lyon during the interviewGreat content but I wish Dr. Lyon would not feel compelled to interject all the time as it disrupts the flow of the conversation. Because of the time delay between the speakers it’s even worse. It is extremely distracting and all the interjections prevent guests from completing their statements.
-
Shobey ShobesNeed To Hear The Other Side!I love the content. But bring in researchers that don’t align with Dr. Lyon’s worldview! We get it. Eat animal protein. And a lot of it. But there is tons of data on plant based diets. The Mediterranean diet (is not plant based but has an emphasis on low animal protein) is the most researched diet there is (other than fasting). Bring in researchers on the benefits of plant based diets and the benefits to climate change, to challenge Dr. Lyon! Let’s get some debating going from the other side. Please!

TahoeMandySome misleading information and guestsI listen to many popular health podcasts and Dr Lyon has been a guest on many. I find it refreshing that a female physician is promoting strength training and building muscle as a means to health for all but particularly women. She has had some really great guests however, I find her singular focus on muscle somewhat myopic. It feels more like a way to become “niche famous” than a paradigm shift for the practice of medicine. Her most recent episode with Marie Claire Harver left much to be desired. Harver is a proponent of keto/fasting and peddles an expensive diet community membership. She claims to be science based but much of her approach is anecdotal or use of observational data “suggesting benefit” as evidence based. With as fast as the fields of medicine and health change, both women seemed overly confident in their interpretation of current data. This felt like a giant commercial for Harver who is also trying to be “niche famous” by selling you information that is free and somewhat contradictory to some of Dr Lyon’s own recommendations.

dazzledeExplain information to those not a DoctorsLove this information! I would like the information be brought down to a level of those that are not doctors or someone who does not clearly understand the terms . It’s so informative and has so much benefit. I want to learn more about the body and muscle to better my aging process.
-
IAmMzJessEat all the protein!! Lift all the weights!!!Yea!! Thank you Dr. Lyon! This podcast has helped me navigate through the weeds and junk information to get to the real information that I needed to take effective action. My daily mantra is “Eat all the protein!! Lift all the weights!!! Because Dr. Lyon said so!!”
-
JOY438Discovered & DelightedI remember my online coach tagged Dr. Lyon as the protein doctor. My brain failed it then I saw her podcast and have listened to a few so far. I loved the meal planning episode. While some interviews are over my head, I feel like she’s good about summarizing for the non PhD types. I’m definitely looking into getting her book, and I plan on revisiting episodes to take note for myself and the clients I serve at my training studio. So much information on her podcast that really is not talked about enough! Yes lift weights, eat right and move!
-
HHreviews80My new favorite health and wellness podcast!!!I discovered Dr. Lyon on the Dhru Purohit podcast. So glad I did! I enjoy her straight forward science and data based approach to sharing health information in a simple way. Prioritizing protein is so simple, yet most doctors aren’t even talking about the importance and value of protein in a diet. I’ve struggled with weight issues my entire life. I feel like I’ve finally found a plan which I can easily incorporate into my lifestyle that actually works and I’m seeing incredible results! I really enjoy Dr. Lyon’s expert guests who share invaluable health knowledge. I’m also sleeping better too thanks to the tips from the sleep episode. I highly recommend this podcast and Dr. Lyon’s book Forever Strong! Excellent health and wellness content. Thank you Dr. Lyon for sharing your protein passion!
-
chheeeksAwesome & transparent breakdownThis podcast isnt just transparent but Dr Lyon and guests break down and back up with other sources and you are easily able to come to your own conclusion. These are conversations everybody (should) can take away something from. You can leave your primary doctor with confusion and so many unanswered questions but listen to this podcast and truly walk away with new perspective and clarity. 5 stars!
-
Linda K NelsonGreat episode with Dr. Don Layman! This has been my favorite episode thus far! Your down to earth explanation of concepts and functions is so helpful to my understanding of the important role protein and exercise plays in our health. I am a 59 year old woman who keeps getting stronger and healthier as I age with guidance of amazing teachers like you and Dr. Layman. Thank you!
-
DchasewifeyBrilliantMy sister shared this podcast with me, and I’m so glad she did! Insightful, science-based, research driven approach to nutrition and building muscle can be found here!
-
prucoboExcited then interruptedLove the content Dr Lyon but you often interrupt the interviewee, original question is not answered because it seems the excitement of the beginning of their answer spurs another question. Please allow the original question to be answered fully. Thank you.
-
SueBfitSo thankful for Dr. LyonDr. Lyon is helping so many people live longer, healthier, and happier lives. Her book Forever Strong is a must read!

-
judydiviThis podcast channel is a must for all women!Dr Lyon is a new guru for longevity, health and weight loss for menopausal women like me( and everybody else, really) Her new book FOREVER STRONG is a very important read. Get this book! I realized that I was not eating near enough protein and my resistance training had dropped off even though I had done it most of my life. Just when it was most important. There is so much info for longevity in this book. After only 3 months of better habits, I have lost weight without trying and see myself getting more toned and stronger every day. Her science will work and this is super important for everyone to understand. I am so excited that younger adults such as my own kids will have this knowledge as they age.
-
skuklaA strong voice for women!Much needed education and cutting edge information for women of all ages who want to age and continue to live healthy, strong and balanced lives. Thank you Dr. Lyon!
-
Mary B NPWe get it, questions are “for the listener”Amazing podcast so much good content. But Dr. Lyon, with all due respect, when you ask your guests really granular questions about whatever topic… they know it’s not for you directly it’s for the listener. Doesn’t feel like an organic conversation when you ask a question and clarify it’s not directly for you it’s “for the listener”. Overall, so much great information! Thank you!
-
sue kiwiReal, concise, data driven, passionate forward thinkingFinally someone who I can look up to and trust with how to grow in mind and body to optimize my health. There is a plan and a path forward and all we have to do is execute. You can feel Dr Lyons strength of mind, heart and soul when she speaks. Can't wait to delve into her book Forever Strong. Love it when she says "Criticism is the breakfast of champions, with a side of protein."
