    In the arena
In The Arena is (imho) the best medical podcast out there today. It feels like an NPR podcast with a unique narrative style that keeps the listener engaged and the dialogue between the hosts sounds like they are genuinely enjoying themselves. The topics are broad from clinical to professional and I find myself learning a lot with each episode. Lastly, Shyam Murali has the perfect personality for this. He always seems knowledgeable on the topic but humble enough to ask the questions that all of us listeners are thinking. I listen to every episode as soon as I get the push notification and look forward to the next one.

    Audio Quality
You don’t need to get anything fancy, but at least make sure there isn’t any background noise. Hearing phones, doors, and such is rather distracting and unprofessional.

Mostly great content, mediocre production value
The intro says it all, this is brass tacks, no frills presentation of expert insight and (to a lesser extent) relevant literature. And the audio quality is terrible. I'm not saying you need to shamble into a studio and lay down five takes, but it's 2018. There are reasonable recording technologies that don't sound like phone calls from my Nokia circa 1998. At four different volume levels.

    Has great potential!
This podcast has a ton of potential, but what it lacks is a conversational, entertaining tone. The content is great but the interviewers are almost robotic in their stiffness. I’d much rather hear a conversation between interviewer and interviewee than hear the interviewer just list off questions one by one. I hope the creators of this podcast check out other good podcasts (EMCrit comes to mind) that have good flow and a more conversational tone because it really helps.

Amazing work by an amazing surgeon
This is very much worth a listen. Dr. Sarani is an important trauma critical care surgeon from the University of Pennsylvania. He is amazing on the podcast, and it is highly informative. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
