It’s next to impossible to hear all of what they’re talking about with the background music being 1. The same volume as their voices and 2. Non-stop throughout the entire episode. The parts I was able to hear were great but I had to stop listening because the background music was so obtrusive.

If you love Yacht Rock, hearing David be wrong constantly, or J.D’s multiple pronunciations of the word “eccentricity “, then this is the place for you! P.S. Hunter and Hollywood Steve RULE!

For anyone wondering what Yacht Rock truly is, this is the only place to be. Forget any fly-by-night podcasts or self-anointed pundits aiming to present their versions and interpretations of the genre. Our hosts Steve, JD, Dave, and Hunter defined it all, and along with the spirit of Gene Yachtski, continue to guide us as we expand our Yacht Rock catalogs, learn about the incredible personnel behind the music, and honor the memory of Koko Goldstein.

This borders on unlistenable. It’s nice that these guys like great music, but they are just so . . . dumb. Unschooled about the players aside from knowing a few names. They are constantly swearing or making dumb sex jokes like “bros” but not in a way that is ever funny or hip. This is just a waste of time. Listen to the music instead.

Whatever you think yacht rock is, it probably aren’t. Find out what constitutes the thing you can’t put your finger on when you hear a bounce, some complex rhythms, and foolish feelings.

This review is way overdue! I started listening to podcasts in 2018 and Beyond Yacht Rock was one of the first pods I followed. I was doing a huge installation of plants in my garden during a really hot summer and J.D., Steve, Hunter, and Dave entertained and educated me every day. Thusly, our parasocial relationship began. I love these guys and I listen to and watch all the content they create. I can easily differentiate between Dave and Hunter’s voices — it only took me two years of listening to unlock this achievement. Listening to these guys do deep dives and so throughly explore the yacht genre has lit a fire in me for this music too. I appreciate their broad base of knowledge and their research. I also enjoy that they can be silly, irreverent, funny, sexy, and snarky. Like music, their podcasts are a comforting respite from real life. Keep the fire forever, guys. There are plenty of podcasts with middle-aged white dudes talking about music, but this is SMOOTH music, and these guys are seriously the best. Hilarious, knowledgeable, and—dare I say—vulnerable. I look forward to listening every single week.

I will not be satisfied until every song from 1977 to 1984 is yachtskied! The gauntlet has been thrown gentlemen, get to work!

I was a years long loyal listener to “Beyond Yacht Rock” and since it went away, there was a giant hole in my life that could only be filled by the witticisms of this crew. “Yacht or Nyacht” is filled with awesome facts, funny moments and all come together to create an awesome podcast! Highly recommend!

… love these guys. Even though they bag on my favorites: Eagles and JB (R.I.Pina Colada), who, i’m very clear aren’t Yachty, I love these guys, anyway. Really insightful. Endlessly witty. Very clever. How they’ve turned my favorite hobby (sharing useless info with folks who didn’t ask for it) into this big bag of fun, I’ll never know but will always envy. Give the show a try. I can’t even put into words the amount of joy the return of Steve, David, JD and the guy who used to be Hunter has given me. This podcast gets a 100 on the Yachtski Scale.

These men have once again put their busy lives on hold to give us another deep dive into all that is definitive yacht rock.
