mgeoghanWish I could hear what they’re sayingIt’s next to impossible to hear all of what they’re talking about with the background music being 1. The same volume as their voices and 2. Non-stop throughout the entire episode. The parts I was able to hear were great but I had to stop listening because the background music was so obtrusive.

Utterly GuitardedThe Best Yacht Rock Podcast! If you love Yacht Rock, hearing David be wrong constantly, or J.D’s multiple pronunciations of the word “eccentricity “, then this is the place for you! P.S. Hunter and Hollywood Steve RULE!
-
BrettJones330This podcast is “Top Nyachtch”!For anyone wondering what Yacht Rock truly is, this is the only place to be. Forget any fly-by-night podcasts or self-anointed pundits aiming to present their versions and interpretations of the genre. Our hosts Steve, JD, Dave, and Hunter defined it all, and along with the spirit of Gene Yachtski, continue to guide us as we expand our Yacht Rock catalogs, learn about the incredible personnel behind the music, and honor the memory of Koko Goldstein.

Paste & PlatoShockingly UnschooledThis borders on unlistenable. It’s nice that these guys like great music, but they are just so . . . dumb. Unschooled about the players aside from knowing a few names. They are constantly swearing or making dumb sex jokes like “bros” but not in a way that is ever funny or hip. This is just a waste of time. Listen to the music instead.

AZ SmithTHE Authorities on Yacht RockWhatever you think yacht rock is, it probably aren’t. Find out what constitutes the thing you can’t put your finger on when you hear a bounce, some complex rhythms, and foolish feelings.

LilGrayBunnyLadies do listen: keeping the fire for yacht rock and jean meatThis review is way overdue! I started listening to podcasts in 2018 and Beyond Yacht Rock was one of the first pods I followed. I was doing a huge installation of plants in my garden during a really hot summer and J.D., Steve, Hunter, and Dave entertained and educated me every day. Thusly, our parasocial relationship began. I love these guys and I listen to and watch all the content they create. I can easily differentiate between Dave and Hunter’s voices — it only took me two years of listening to unlock this achievement. Listening to these guys do deep dives and so throughly explore the yacht genre has lit a fire in me for this music too. I appreciate their broad base of knowledge and their research. I also enjoy that they can be silly, irreverent, funny, sexy, and snarky. Like music, their podcasts are a comforting respite from real life. Keep the fire forever, guys. Love, a fellow jean meat lover from MN.

kbarry1726Can’t miss podcastThere are plenty of podcasts with middle-aged white dudes talking about music, but this is SMOOTH music, and these guys are seriously the best. Hilarious, knowledgeable, and—dare I say—vulnerable. I look forward to listening every single week.
-
ML407Hot GuysI don’t mind long episodes as long as we have hot guys.
-
JflibottThat’s yacht rockLightning round!

Mr. UtleyWisdom from the Ancients…This podcast should be technically filed under “Science”. Only the most rigorous research and exhaustive application of the scientific method can determine those creations deemed worthy of the boat. “Yachtskiing” is a proprietary technique that can only be accurately designated by its creators. Listen to this podcast weekly to discover smooth gems that will enrich your mind and body, scientifically.

TacoTacoTimeQ TributeFunniest episode ever. I’m crying.
-
xwirdsYR 4evr.Just listened to ep 44. Here’s your 5 stars. Please rate Pilot’s 1975 #1 UK,Ireland and Australia hit “January,” off their album “Second Flight.” Produced by Allan Parsons, the song is about a girl, not a month and followed up “Magic,” which is now the Ozempic commercial jingle! 😂 Love both shows, keep sailing.
-
JustJackJazzHandsSame as last weekFellas, you uploaded the same episode as last week.

C Ben CoThe ApexIt is no understatement to say, that with this podcasts we get to witness, in real-time, the culmination of science, math, art, and human achievement. Intentionally or not, JD, Hunter, Hollywood Steve, and Dave, have fulfilled the promises made by both the Renaissance and The Age of Reason. Carrying the torch of Gene Yachtski, these gentlemen nay, these scholars, pronounce infallible judgments of music being Yacht or Nyacht. They are learned and steeped in the lore of the genre, the musicians, the discography, the album covers, the music videos, the ephemera, and pesto recipes. Come for the reviews, analysis, and history, and stay for the banter between four friends who somehow found themselves the stewards of a genre and revolutionaries of music review.

jayhawk1996Essential PodcastAnd you’ll learn what Essential Yacht Rock is too.
-
The FlonI LOVE THE THEME SONGAnd everything else too
-
It's Kevin, Carlito! We don’t know but we’ll find out!The maestro’s of Yacht Rock decree from on high wether a song is Yacht, or Nyacht! Hilarious banter along with deep discussions on musical credits keep this train a rolling. I will not be satisfied until every song from 1977 to 1984 is yachtskied! The gauntlet has been thrown gentlemen, get to work!
-
JarrodSloneSo glad they’re backI was a years long loyal listener to “Beyond Yacht Rock” and since it went away, there was a giant hole in my life that could only be filled by the witticisms of this crew. “Yacht or Nyacht” is filled with awesome facts, funny moments and all come together to create an awesome podcast! Highly recommend!
-
WarhammerheadCan’t help it…… love these guys. Even though they bag on my favorites: Eagles and JB (R.I.Pina Colada), who, i’m very clear aren’t Yachty, I love these guys, anyway. Really insightful. Endlessly witty. Very clever. How they’ve turned my favorite hobby (sharing useless info with folks who didn’t ask for it) into this big bag of fun, I’ll never know but will always envy. Give the show a try. Might go down smooth.
-
Edward C. WeeksA goddamn relief to have those boys back!As sharp and incisive as ever. How can listening to four grown men bicker and joke about music be both comforting AND hilarious? Get on the boat if you haven’t already. The funniest, warmest podcast around.

BuffalowhigKeeping The FireI can’t even put into words the amount of joy the return of Steve, David, JD and the guy who used to be Hunter has given me. This podcast gets a 100 on the Yachtski Scale.
-
RoastedsnakeNothing you can do about it! Relax, enjoy the ride!Gene Yachtski’s groundbreaking work continues through the encyclopedic knowledge of JD Ryznar aka Michael McDonald aka Greybeard, Hunter aka Kenny Loggins aka Solo Rocker aka Sweet Rocker, David B Lyons aka Koko Goldstein, music industry mogul, and Steve Huey aka Hollywood Steve. These men have once again put their busy lives on hold to give us another deep dive into all that is definitive yacht rock. Not only is this quartet a triple threat of actors, podcasters and dated reference connoisseurs, they’ve graced us with another chance at asking the important question: Is it yacht or nyacht? Long time listener, first time reviewer, I could write PAGES on the men who brought the term “yacht rock” into the zeitgeist. Any person who thinks otherwise? That’s what a fool believes. Keep the fire.
-
