cantbelivemynameistakenA rating from the past!Muuaagghh the French!! I discovered comics lab from a recommendation from a start up founders podcast and I’ve been hooked ever since, the friendship between Brad and Dave is infectious and delightful! I’m not a comics creator but I’m still learning a lot from you two and your journey, I’m currently catching up and just got to December 2020 and I’m listening to an episode a day (sometimes two) and maybe I’ll hear you read this review in like 200 days from now when I’m fully caught up 😂. Thanks for doing what you do this is probably my current favorite podcast!

WubbsFor DaveI just wanted you and Brad to know that Comic Lab has earned the official Hairy Toe Knucklers of America Seal of Approval. This also automatically puts you in the running for our annual award: The Hirsute Hoof. (Wait until you see the statue) Personally there’s nothing I love more than listening to this podcast while enjoying a cool beverage as I comb my toes. My hairy, oh-so-hairy, toes. Love the show, guys! 😎🦶🦶
-
DanBova1Infectious (in good way)Fun and informative! Infunative? I am 50, but wondering if Dave and Brad would consider adopting me. I promise not to ruin the carpet.

Class of 1978Brad and Dave Sound like cartoonistsI’ve been a professional cartoonist for decades, and also used to work in animation. These gentlemen are funny, and they sound as though they have done animation voice over work. If you are trying to cut down on coffee, this podcast will keep you awake, and it offers a great insight into the current comics field right now.
-
InvasionOfTheZIMGreat show, and a good source of comic newsI always like discovering new cartoonists, and this show delivers on interviews. One thing I will ask though is a question for Dave: is the podcast you recorded with the Comics Curmudgeon available to listen to anywhere? I originally found out about Sheldon through him and have bought several books so I’m interested in hearing that interview and maybe you could have him on again because he still runs the blog.

gideons3Feet first! Eggs in basket! Draw!As a cartoonist myself I have learned to seek the love others have for cartooning and comics that goes beyond the norm. The people that have dived in feet first to the dark chasm not knowing what’s lies at the bottom. The people that put all of their eggs in one basket and then jammed in some more despite the cracks. Those are my people. Brad and Dave are those people. Thanks for a fun and insightful podcast Brad and Dave!

Nuke30StudioLove it!Fairly new to the podcast and I am loving it so far, Brad and Dave are a blast to listen to even when they go off on tangents! So far it has been a very informing and inspiring podcast for me and I hope they never stop! Thanks to Comicslab I feel I have been inspired enough to start working on a webcomic again! So far have made the most progress on a project I ever have and a large part of that has been thanks to listening to Comicslab! Keep up the amazing work!

TailpocketsA fun and informative pod about making comicsBeen listening to these guys for years now, and had to leave a review. The show covers topics they go in depth on from the creation side and business side of comics, as well as answering questions from listeners which I’ve personally found incredibly valuable. It’s my favorite podcast and their advice has helped me a great deal over the past few years. I’d recommend it to anyone who takes their art seriously and wants to get some insight from some experts in the field. And have some laughs~

CrystalW1997Funny, Fun, and HelpfulI came across this podcast by chance while searching for art podcasts. I’m working my way through the archive, and I haven’t been disappointed yet! Brad and Dave bring their 20+ years of cartooning experience to every table, whether it’s economics, the four Cs of social media, humor, inspiration, dedication, (sometimes hard to face) facts, or having pride and joy in your craft and yourself. Guest speakers from a broad spectrum of specialties and walks of life frequent the show and share their experiences and expertise. Dave and Brad’s friendship shine through at every point and make this show a delight to listen to!

M. Zapata ArtSometimes it feels like, the impossible.Hello fellas. I’m a full time low voltage electrician who mainly works In Manhattan, a father of two amazing girls and a husband to a beautiful blond. My day starts at 3-3:30 every morning including weekends. I begin my day with an hour at the gym, then a drive into work, depending on the commute could be 1hr and 15, I park and get in about 1hr and 30 to 2 hrs of comic art time. Then at 6:45 my full time job starts, driving home could be 2hrs 30min to 3hrs. Get home, have dinner with the girls, shower and rinse wash repeat the next work day. On The weekends I don’t go in because my wife works and I watch the girls, so I get about 3-4 hrs Saturday and 5-6 hrs on Sunday of Art time. I will never give up my routine because it has been working for the last 5 years when I started the early bird special start time, but oh man, creating and maintaining this lifestyle some times feels like such an impossible task. But I have gotten comic work and self published my own books. But the satisfaction of creator own and running your own projects are the greatest feeling ever. But at times it does seem like a mission impossible, but I refuse to ever give up. You guys have been a fun part of my mornings every week, your mindful and positive focus needed to maintain a great work ethic, has been a great motivator on understanding this industry we know as storytellers. Much appreciated, M. Zapata You can Also find my work @m_zapata_art on Instagram.

BonthraExquisite EntertainmentEqual parts humor and web-based buiness advice with a dash of seasoned life experience, Dave and Brad (Dad and Brave) encourage listeners to create the best online business they can! Though it is focused on online comics, the lessons are applicable to almost any online business. Full disclosure: Brad and Dave were talking about the joys and wonder of parenting and they did make me cry. It's unusual, especially online, to hear about having a child spoken of as a HUGE change AND a wonderful one. Thank you both for being so awesome!
-
SteffiCheneauxAn endless fount of dad jokes (and useful info)On top of being delightful, this pod is packed with great info for comics creators—both seasoned and aspiring. I look forward to it every week.

GarthFTSublime SequentialistsComic Lab is everything a podcast could hope to be: informative, entertaining, engaging, professional, absurd, and regular. Brad Guigar and the notable Dave Kellett are a font of comic knowledge and anyone who wants to seriously get their toes into the world of making comics should pay them heed. They’re also delightfully entertaining, real voices for radio, so even if you don’t give a fig about comics you’re in for an auditory treat. Give them a listen and follow their advice, they know what they’re about.
-
portermasonA must for any cartoonist (or any creative person)This show almost single-handedly got me back drawing again after a 10 year break. Their love for their work is palpable, and their generosity of spirit shows in how they share their knowledge with those just starting out. On top of all THAT, Brad and Dave’s easy rapport with one another makes the whole thing a fun listen. I literally listen to this while I draw! As a friend, you need to listen to this. (Be ready for vaudeville level jokes at times. It’s a feature, not a bug.)
-
Kylock1337Pure joyComic Lab is an invaluable resource for any aspiring or professional comic creator, but more than that it is a genuinely wonderful show for everyone. The joy, friendship, humor and wit that Brad and Dave display in every episode never fails to brighten my week and make the world seem just a little better than it was before.
-
Jack ReickelThe best and only podcast I listen to regularlyI’m not a podcast person, but I can appreciate a good episode of a good podcast now and again. ComicLab though, I’ve listened through every episode, as well as just about every one of their ComicLab Pro Tips bonus episodes on Patreon. Brad and Dave are funny and informative, not just to comic creators but to any creatives and/or small business owners, of any kind. One of the best resources on this wide internet, thanks guys!
-
ohTHATseanHilariously informativeIf you want to know the ins and outs of running a small business and ESPECIALLY if you want to make comics, Brad and Dave have a combined 40 years of pioneering the medium of comics in the 21st Century
-
zander17384French shampainGreat show, full of laughs and love, greatest part of my day and will always be the best comic podcast.
-
technogalSolid Info for any creative personI’m a graphic designer, not a cartoonist, and I find much of Dave and Brads advice applicable to my field as well as theirs. Plus all the laughter is a real mood lifter. I thoroughly enjoy listening to this podcast.
-
Wil RodriguezYou should listen to Comic LabBrad and Dave have been honing their craft as comic creators for decades. (At least 2).They have also been making what they love doing a viable business in a volatile, ever-changing entertainment market. What will you get from listening to Comic Lab? You get insight on all aspects of the creative process. You get tips on business practices, marketing and promotion. You get insights from guest professionals in the field. You also get friendship, humor, heart, and grammar tips that will make you question all of your life choices. Even if you have no interest in comics, you will find something of value here that will apply to your own endeavors. Or at the very least. It will be fun. You’re welcome in advance.

CupOfJoe2012Yes, this is the show you’re looking forI discovered this podcast just a few weeks ago, and was hooked from my first episode. Brad & Dave are not just walking the walk of 21st century working cartoonists, they’re talking the talk, and they’re a blast to listen to. Inspiration, validation, tough love, and (best of all) extremely timely & targeted advice — plus a healthy dose of good humor and fun — make this the perfect listen for any cartoonist whether full-time or just getting started. I listen while I draw, and I feel like I’ve found my tribe. Along with the cartooning advice is a laudable example of kindness, consideration, and friendship. Thanks for the great show, guys!
-
Santiago CasaresLet’s talk Comics!Week in and week out Brad and Dave give excellent advice for creatives (in the form of webcomics, but it can be applied to any creative endeavor), all mixed with great banter and sense of humor. So my friends, let’s talk comics!

aaronchur$5 of JoyA couple of months ago finances were being reassessed due to Covid. Comic Lab didn’t make the cut. Last week after listening to the latest episode, I realized the amount of joy and information Brad and David provide. So, I’m back on Patreon to get the Pro Tips and access to the discord server. There are two places on Patreon that get some time from me each week. One for my daughter and Comic Lab for me. Thank you for what you provide each week.
-
RobVSmithGreat Show for Creatives and Shop TalkIf you’re someone who wants to laugh while learning about building developing creative online business, try Comic Lab. Brad and Dave are specifically web comics professionals, but as a software and video game professional, what they discuss applies to so much more. Just one episode, and you’ll be champing at the bit for more.

Moo cow123123“Dave, DAVE!”I came for advice about making a comic but I stay for the delightful banter. Sometimes I laugh so hard I can’t hold the pen to my wacom intuos (which is a drawing table I’ve loved for close to 8 years). This podcast is full of insight and has delivered the advice that finally helped me overcome my anxieties and gave me the push to start working on a comic: the worst thing you can do is never start. I’d also echo that advice to anyone considering listening to Comic Lab: the worst thing you could do is never listen! Every episode leaves me with great points to consider as I work, with a lot of laughs along the way. Praise to the Comic Lab team for producing a delightful and inspiring podcast.
-
JA_DavisHilarious and Informative.I started listening to this podcast recently. I started at the beginning episodes and chipped away at a few, which I enjoyed a lot. I binged about 10 episodes at work over the weekend and had moments where I literally started laughing out loud. The hosts are very good at directing their conversations and answering questions in thoughtful ways, often offering different perspectives of the solution isn’t clear cut. They also have some absolutely hilarious banter. If you like comics and laughing, check this one out.
-
baquianoFolksy Humor & Great Industry TipsBrad and Dave are seasoned artists and writers in the web and print comics industry, with a lot say and share. The podcast is very entertaining, even if your drawing skills don’t go much beyond a hangman stick figure.
-
Lolbatsnow13Awesome even if you aren’t a creatorBrad and Dave are funny and smart. They focus on creating comics and making a loving doing that, but much of what they talk about could relate to any content creator or to other situations. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to as a comic fan.
-
CCAD studentGreat insights, great hostsA must-listen for webcomic creators, and a helpful resource for the larger community of artists looking to make a living on their creative talents. Dave and Brad have tons of great advice on a wide variety of topics, and their cheerful friendship is a joy to listen in on

Gem S.It's My Favorite PodcastI really can't recommend Comic Lab enough. This podcast is packed with actionable and relevant information about building an independent career in the arts. Plus, Comic Lab is one of the most entertaining podcasts ever! Brad and Dave's excitement and enthusiasm for creating comics is a delight to listen to. This podcast is so funny; I look forward to it every Thursday. And the knowledge I've gained from Comic Lab has helped me create a business plan. Thanks a ton, guys! P.S. To the reviewers who complained about Brad's laugh: Who hurt you? Brad, don't listen to them. You have a wonderful, genuine laugh. Don't change it.
-
bryceartThanks guys!I'm 54 years old and just published my first long form webcomic on webtoons. I doubt that I would have gotten this far, without your weekly injection of knowledge, humor, and inspiration!
-
Will CartoonsMaster Class for cartoonists!Comic Lab is the best podcast for cartoonists to be listening to right now. Each week, Brad and Dave guide you through the process of helping you get your comics out into the world and provide great advice and instruction. This podcast is amazing!

OddlyNormalOneThe most entertaining teachers you’ll ever haveBrad and Dave are the best at talking shop about comics, teaching you about comics, and making you laugh along the way. Imagine you’re sitting across the table over lunch, talking about all the comics you love, and figuring out how your own art works. That’s this podcast! You will not find better people to encourage you at whatever stage in your art career you are at, and still make you feel like you can and want to do more. This is a podcast I don’t miss, and even enjoying going back to listen to episodes again! Thanks fellas!
-
Allen GladfelterNot THAT funny! (Revised)Seriously, it’s not entertaining when a couple of schmucks just laugh at their own jokes for a whole hour, which is a shame because they really know their stuff. The knowledge and insight they are passing along is among the most valuable I have encountered, but fir crying out loud town down the hilarity! 5 stars for substance, 0 stars fir style, 3 stars and recommended. And so today I gotta laugh like I’ve never laughed before! Okay, I REALLY like guys who can take it on the chin and keep on the sunny side. I’m changing my faulting TODAY! 5 stars. HIGHLY recommended!
-
The_RyGuyKCThese guys are…annoyingI tried this podcast several times but just can’t get over the hosts. They sound like failed radio DJ’s who don’t discuss anything interesting nor fun. (If they do I couldn’t hear it over the one host constant laugh.) Not for me.
-
WallychairmoverThey keep you goingThese guys, let me tell you. If you're just getting in to makig comics, have been for a while, or want to hear how a great podcast is produced, these guys will get you there. Their friendship and wisdom resonates on every episode. They are professional and personable. With decades of experience and wisdom between them, having come up from the infancy of webcomics of the early internet to now. They have the ability to adjust their own opinions and perspectives to better themselves, leading by example, it would be a waste not to listen to this podcast. They really keep one of the best Patreon experiences around too so make sure to check that out!

Jessian PressThank youThe reason I title this review thank you is because as a child I wanted nothing more then to do a comic strip but somewhere around 20 my spirit was broken and I hid in a dark corner of the world denying that I was ever going to be good enough to be a cartoonist. Then at 40 I picked up my pen and began to publish my first comic Ike and Joe and one of the main differences in my life between then and now was Comic Lab. What I learned from Brad and Dave is simply that time is a continuum and you cant get worse at something you do every day. In some strange way listing to them felt as if they were giving me permission to be a cartoonist which I realize I had the power to give my self this whole time. I look forward to what the future holds for my cartooning. Thank you Brad and Dave it is an honor to listen to you each week and to support you on Patreon!

WillRyanComics can make you better......and this podcast can make your comics better. Brad and Dave find a way to make listening to people talk a visual craft hilarious AND informative. Comic Lab has quickly become my most anticipated podcast every week. If you’re interested in HOW to make a comic book or web comic as well as laugh your way through learning, this is the show for you.
-
OutlandishArtistDecidedly informative & delightfully funnyAnyone wanting to learn how to make a living doing comics will benefit from this podcast. You’ll also be entertained. To any artist who has been discouraged by so-called experts telling them that “you can’t make a living from comics,” Dave and Brad have been proving that assumption wrong for over 20 years. They’re both independent comic artists/entrepreneurs who have built their own brand, and their own publishing and merchandising businesses. They make enough money to make comics their sole career, support their families, and even hiring assistants. So if anyone knows how to make a living doing comics it’s these talented cartoonists. What’s more, their comics are fantastic. Aside from that, the show is just a joy to listen to as you go about you day. They’re clearly having fun making this show and their laughter is infectious. I had the pleasure to meet them in person years ago, and they’re both just genuinely nice guys. This is my all time favorite podcast.
-
StannexMy Favorite!I've listened to a lot of podcasts about creating comics (including Brad and Dave's other shows) and Comic Lab is hands down my favorite. Maybe it's because they play off each other so well. Maybe it's because their advice is always fueled by real-world experience. Maybe it's because they manage to put out a new episode every single week. Why doesn't really matter. What matters is that when I sit down to draw, there's no one else I'd rather have in the studio with me than Brad
-
kallenbyThis podcast rocksLove listening to it while I’m inking. These guys are great.
-

-
Miss Em (becausepony)Love it!Stumbled across this podcast while searching for new art-related podcasts to listen to. I am LOVING it! I love that they answer fan questions and mix it up with special guest interviews, instead of only doing one or the other. It’s great that they can share their real-world experiences with Patreon, Kickstarter, and life as professional artists. Plus - they’re hysterical :)
-
