I absolutely love this podcast, and I look forward to new episodes every Monday. Juli does a FANTASTIC job of teaching on difficult conversations the church usually ignores like LGBTQ, the realities of sex, and all stages of marriage/relationships. She has such a way of recognizing God’s mercy, grace, and His unconditional love for people in tough situations outside of some of the legalistic answers or approaches we have grown up learning in church. She has a “this is the way we have been taught and maybe it was with good intentions, but we can do better,” kind of approach. Juli’s voice is so calming. This has been an answer to my prayers. So often her podcasts answer questions I’ve had on “taboo church subjects” for YEARS, but I’d never been brave enough to ask, nor have I ever heard preached about in my 26 years of life. I love that she never forces her viewpoints on her guests who may have a different understanding of the Bible. She is always respectful and constantly looking on ways to grow herself. I’ve learned so much from her podcasts, and I definitely encourage others to take a listen.

I’m 19 and a freshman in college and in a world of confusion, uncertainty, and chaos this helps me remember to run to the Lord and gives me guidance on how to stay disciplined. Considering the title of the episode, I was hoping to hear about the specific verses and the changes with the translations over the years. But what I heard was, homosexuality must not be Gods plan because that wasn’t the picture we were given in Genesis 1 AND marriage isn’t about happiness or being with some one you’re “hot for”.

I loved this episode on Grace based marriage. I really needed to hear this today and am asking God to help me see my marriage in light of the gospel.

I am thankful to have found this incredibly rich content on sexuality in a world that has gotten it all wrong. I am a mother, teacher, and coach and have watched the young women I’ve worked with and raised become confused by bad advice and ideology that leaves our creator God out of the picture. Thank you for these conversations that address tough questions and issues pointing to Jesus and biblical understanding of the beauty of sex and our sexuality. Your boldness and kindness has given me language and understanding to address these things in my life and work. You’ve given me courage to take on my own conversations with people I love, knowing I can listen better, provide more merciful guidance, and have the knowledge to back up what I’m thinking and saying. I can’t tell you how many times I have recommended this podcast to friends. It is so refreshing to hear these difficult and sometimes spicy topics discussed through a biblical lense. A friend sent me this podcast in light of some issues we each were helping our children through. It’s hard to imagine that was over a year ago as this has become one of my most consistently listened to podcasts. What I love about Java with Juli is how they approach the difficult topics with humility, compassion and empathy. And always with an eye on Gods truth and seeking his wisdom in all topics.

I have been so helped by much of what Juli shares, but her episode on why women are leaving the church was just way off in my opinion. I did not agree with her guest’s perspective at all and thought it was quite liberal. When Juli stays in her lane, she is spot on. This episode - not so much.

Great podcast with Dr. Juli which challenges thinking and isn’t afraid to shy away from having and asking difficult questions. She will even acknowledge that life can get messy and sometimes there are no easy, pat answers but we instead need to wrestle with Scripture and love people as God loves. It is a highlight of my week and a must-listen in my weekly activities.

I’m a therapist who also believes in sound Biblical truth. It means a lot to hear discussions about sex, intimacy and marriage that I can trust Juli’s perspective. I trust her humble wise counsel on these issues that can have much controversy. I don’t trust everybody with this topic. I started listening to this podcast about 3-4 years ago. I was a student in college and found myself feeling a lot of pressure from outside groups to “get a boyfriend.” It felt like most people were more interested in the boys I would find at college j stead of the knowledge I would find. As a believer, I started to have doubts about who I was to God if I wasn’t wanting to be a married woman. My parents had an awful marriage that left me feeling very jaded about relationships in general. This podcast has been so helpful and comforting to me in so many ways. It affirmed me - no it rejoiced me in my singleness. It reminded me of all the scripture I had grown up hearing that praised singleness. At the same time, it removed or softened those jaded pieces of my heart from my parents marriage. This prepared me as God did plan for me to be in relationship. I got married just this last year and there are many obstacles that I have overcome just through listening to this podcast and hearing information that no one else is talking about in bulk. As many of you know, being a newlywed can be troublesome with the sexual intimacy part, add in that I never had a mother to instruct me on the simplest of lady matters and I could have been lost really fast. This podcast has been exactly what I have needed in my life at this time. Gods timing could not have been more perfect and Juli does an amazing job of not only being a comforting voice in the midst of strife but a truthful voice. This podcast leads you to reflection first not rejection and that’s huge in todays world. Thanks for sticking to God’s plan Juli, it’s changed my life.

The truths I’m learning have changed how I view sexuality and really educated me in so many areas. I’m excited to be able to share these things with my kids and friends. My first memory was in a church — in other words, I’ve been gladly walking with Jesus for a long time. However, I always felt like something was missing in my Christian communities and circles; it bothered me that so many important topics would be skirted around, as if some dialogues were “too taboo” for our God. It frustrated me that society was setting the standard for topics (such as sex and sexuality) that the Church should be leading on, especially since God created all things. So as a young woman in her 20s, this podcast has quite literally been the “missing piece.” Java with Juli has been a safe haven, a refreshing well of Bible-based knowledge and wisdom, and platform that welcomes holy curiosity. I consider Juli a distant aunt of sorts, as she’s had such an impact on my walk and talks and processing with Jesus. I’m eternally grateful for this podcast and ministry, and you will be too!

Dr. Juli is amazing at discussing the culturally relevant topics on sex and how it lines up with the Bible. Dr. Juli has the ability to discuss uncomfortable topics without making it feel awkward. Furthermore, her voice is so easy to listen to. She brings in the most knowledgeable guests to talk about questions on sex that are sometimes too embarrassing to ask.
