KaAM2024Thank you!!Dr. Allison, your show has been a wonderful compliment to my journey with a counselor. I find IFS to be such a helpful lens for my own healing and grounding. The way you have introduced it and explained it over time has been such a gift. You are passionate and brilliant and gracious as you unpack so many deeply practical ideas and approaches for emotional healing and maturity! Thank you!

rim&kayEpisode 94: Should I Stay or Walk AwayI wanted SO bad to LOVE her podcasts and her interview methods! SO much rambling and SO many rabbit trails. I felt like I was listening to an unintentional coffee conversation. I LOVE her latest book “I Shouldn't Feel This Way”….podcasts, not so much.
-
Denise C 8Finding this podcast has been a GodsendI can’t say enough about this podcast and Dr. Allison. I have listened to every episode and can’t wait for the next one. She has shed so much light onto my spiritual pain from a 29 year toxic marriage. I’m learning how to heal and to live the life that God has planned for me.
-
LoryHartsockGratefulDr. Alison is a gift to the believer. She truly helps us to integrate our spiritual journey in a compassionate and courageous way. Healing the Spiritual and bringing language to the human aspects of our journey. That leads us to a greater Spiritual Formation in Christ through love.

Dlight44Miraculous First TimeLast night I saw INSIDE OUT 2, without seeing #1. This am, when I got up to do my daily meditation, I found Your podcast 109 staring at me for the first time without my seeking. I clicked and listened and was thrilled deep down inside by the incredible honesty of these two ladies. I am often capable of this simple honesty and I recognize God’s presence usually appears in these moments, pin dropping moments. In addition, I am familiar with IFS but not fluent with it. But I found I could, at least, keep up with a sense of what was occurring between these two ladies. Love and healing for them and me was in the air as they shared. I would recommend to myself, my friends and anyone else in recovery from addictions, trauma, or just life’s struggle to come here for hope, healing and a new life worth living.

KHentschMilitary familiesThank you so much for this episode. I’m curious about any studies that have been done regarding the attachment styles/issues for military kids. By the time I was 27 I had moved 14 times- starting in Germany, east coast, west coast, mid west, the Deep South and northeast of the United States. My family- army dad, mom, 2 older brothers, 1 older sister, 1 younger brother. (Oldest brother was 7 1/2 yrs old when youngest brother was born.) Thanks for considering this subject. Kathy

Dr Clark FanLies We TellHate to admit it, but this was really convicting & discouraging, actually… “oh woe is me, unclean lips.”! Very thorough. Good transcript notes. Please do an episode on how to determine if we are lying to ourselves vs listening to the father of lies.

Heidika365Holy SmokesStumbled upon your podcast duirng my daily doggie walks and can't stop. I have been listing since and I have shared with frieds and family. Thank you so much for the real, raw God centered/thearpy driven candid talks -- my first podcase was the Granger Smith podcast and it was so real and raw - I was crying on my walk, not sad but just so real. The next was the Dark Night of the Soul, and I shared that with my sisters. Thank you so much for your podcast, it was wonderful and light to our feet indeed.

jeffysgirlygirlHelping me growDr. Alison Cook’s books and podcasts have changed my life for the better. I discovered her online over 3 years ago and am happy to say I haven’t been the same. It seems to be a journey for me because I have so many levels of healing that have happened and still need to happen. I’m particularly helped by the parts (IFS) work she does. Thanking God for her and what freedom she’s helped me find.

Bethany41215Helping me grow 💚It took several years of confusing emotional struggles to figure out how to come out of overwhelm, anxiety and depression while running a business and trying to raise 4 kids under 7. I needed to learn emotional intelligence, I needed to learn how to deal with myself, I needed to learn who I am and make my own choices. That led me to this podcast, I may have found it through don’t mom alone? In any event, I see myself more clearly listening. I gain understanding. I face myself with more compassion. I’m growing and learning and healing and encouraged on my journey here. I listened to boundaries for your soul, twice. I get it. I get it all and I’m using it all every day to deal with myself and heal the parts of me I used to deny were hurting…and not being ashamed when I see ways I never grew up, but parenting myself gently in those areas…which helps me immensley in parenting my children. I am growing up with them. I started on episode 1 and I’m on 22 and 1 book meditated on. Thank you Alison for your work, both internally and externally. Your journey has blessed mine.

LitoTeaCup1012Thank you for reminding me of my passionsYour podcast intricately weaves together psychology and Biblical truths. Things I love. This was the podcast I desperately needed and did not know it. I am a psychiatric RN and recently a new mom. My new season has brought about unfamiliar emotions and intense anxiety. It was difficult for me to face the truth that I even harbor these uncharted feelings given my profession. I became a stranger to myself. After seeking help and community, I so happen to come across your podcast as “recommended,” it was by God’s kindness that I am to gird myself with your helpful tactics and reignite my passion for the career I am already in. I hope to further explore IFS and carry what I am going to learn into my practice. Thank you.
-
AcH060519Practical & BiblicalThank you, Dr. Alison! Your professional knowledge coupled with your sound Biblical teachings and transparency about your own challenges and learning journey is refreshing, encouraging, and educational. I especially have found IFS to be instructional and helpful. It has allowed me to better understand trauma’s impact and provides tools for allowing me to be gentle with myself as I heal. You share the practical and personal side of pain and the growth/healing journey while providing the hope of the gospel!
-
LbritwahlThank you!!!!I love the way you blend biblical Truth with psychology and therapy…. And, I am a big fan of IFS so I appreciate the way you used a Christian worldview to explain self leadership as spirit leadership….. can’t wait to buy your book and hear the next episodes.
-
communioN2tetherSharingHave listened for some time. Shared with both my minister who used Personality questionnaires in doing Spiritual Formation, and also with my LPCMS daughter who is less spiritually directed (more brain science focus). Both impact my psychology learning/leanings. IG & podcast is my therapy filler (a more affordable/available…. Between 50 min sessions), AND while there’s alot to choose from…. Not all are great for all people. You have shown intelligence & integrity.

Healing SeekerSession #2….Dr. Alison you validated my experience as a receiver of gaslighting so clearly. I appreciate your clear delivery and wise advice mixed with biblical truth! Your practical advice and actual “talk tracks” for how to deliver healthy boundaries have be the tools to confidently engage with chronic toxic family members. You are a perfect complement to live counseling and I love to listen on my way to work as I invest in my healing journey! God Bless you!

2tori2Great content/ delivery so-soThis is such great content and the podcaster’s book is also wonderful. In fact, I recommend the latter with more gusto only because Dr. Alison’s delivery sets my teeth on edge. First, she talks so fast that I can hardly keep up and her tendency to over-emphasis words and speak with over-inflection is so distracting. I can only listen for short bursts because it just grates on my ears. A softer, more conversational approach would be so much more appreciated and effective. Otherwise, this is highly recommended.
