Natural Disasters

939

Tsunamis, volcanoes, tornadoes, earthquakes...these are real-life monsters. We like to think we’re prepared for a catastrophe. But time and time again, Mother Nature proves us wrong. Each week, Natural Disasters examines the earth’s biggest catastrophes that took countless lives, destroyed communities, and toppled civilizations. Natural Disasters is a Spotify Original from Parcast.

    Great for history
These episodes are great for history lessons for my grandson. I really wish there would be more episodes

    Awful narrators but good stories
These people really need to take some acting lessons and learn how to read without sounding like they are reading. They are great stories, but I have never heard such UNNATURAL dialogue in a podcast. And from a reputable production company? It’s disappointing that there aren’t more episodes because they are well written. But I totally understand why there aren’t.

    Sad its gone

    Going Downhill
This podcast was great when it actually covered interesting natural disaster stories, now it’s become just another lame paranormal podcast. I do recommend the episodes before they changed.

    Loved It and Miss It
I loved this podcast! Any chance there will be any more episodes?

    Another addicting podcast
I absolutely love this podcast, it’s very informative and entertaining; I’ve been missing it for months (though, it feels like it’s been a year or more since there’s been a new episode). When are they coming back?!?!

    Catastrophic!
Love the pod. I would love to hear about the paradise California campfire . I am a campfire survivor. If you need some resources or interviews call me!!!

Platform for ads for other shows
I loved this podcast, but they haven’t had any actual new episodes for many months. Tired of Parcast uploading crossovers and ads to so many of their shows, making it seem like there are lots of new episodes, when it’s just a bunch of duplicates of the same ad for a different show spamming my feed.

    Like listening to a documentary!
I found this podcast while browsing and blew right through all of the episodes in the span of a few days! The science, history and human connection is incredibly captivating. The two hosts are incredible at telling the captivating stories/communicating the information and I am constantly drawn in by their voices and manner of speaking. Not sure why they went on hiatus or why another podcast has been uploading their content here recently but I really hope they post more Natural Disasters episodes soon!

One of the worst things I’ve heard
Hosts sensationalize and dehumanize regularly, and are more interested in how cool the subject matter might seem (to children probably) rather than the human story behind it. Podcast also just generally contains a lot of misinformation. Finally the delivery sounds like robots. Like launch day Siri from 2011. This is bad and its creators should feel bad.

    Enjoying myself
I love it when two hosts can find a way to get on with the podcast & don’t spend 30 minutes talking about irrelevant things. The host have a great rapport &:compliment each other in the story-telling.

    Great show, but it’s cancelled.
There haven’t been new episodes for at least 3 months now, I think Parcast gave this one the axe. It was a great show! Very disappointed!

    One episode tells all
I haven’t even finished my first episode and I know most of the comenta are true, the topic is interesting but the woman sounds like a robot the man is a little bit better

    Loved this but
Loved this podcast but appears to have been cancelled and now is only used to update us as to the crap that Parcast is putting out instead of educational material

    It’s awesome
I love this podcast. It’s definitely my favorite podcast. I listen to whenever I can. I love how they are so dramatic with it in a good way. The way they describe it, I feel like I am there watching it happening.
  • jaimyram
    More episodes please
I love this podcast. I hope they don’t cancel it because the content is very informational.

    Great stories
Love this podcast. The hosts are great. I’m ready for more.
  • Rocket Science Guy
Good topics, obvious lack of scientific knowledge
This podcast is a good listen but in EVERY episode I’ve listened to so far they cannot seem to use proper terms of measurement. For example: temperature in Kelvin’s when it should be degrees Kelvin. Or for pressure it’s pounds per square inch not pounds per inch. It’s such a small detail but makes the podcast sound very unprofessional and the podcasters seem unintelligent. The writers really need to spend 5 minutes to look these things up.

    Hurricane Andrew
When are you going to do an episode on Hurricane Andrew and hurricane Katrina?
  • tsar1900
    GONE?
Are they off the air for good, or will they be back?
  • Wyguy_13
    Chelyabinsk
There were so many errors in pronunciation in this episode it makes me sick. I cannot listen to you mispronounce CHELYABINSK anymore I had to stop listening. It is explicitly CHEL-YA-BINSK but the narrators continue to say CHAY-LA-BINSK. Also why would you just give us the temperature in kelvins for asteroids? Are you too lazy to convert it into a scale we actually know? Lazy, bad.
  • Vicki was here today
    Wooster OH
I grew up hearing about the flood of 69. I learned a lot that I didn’t know but you kept pronouncing Wooster wrong!!! Super distracting.
  • Kodiac kid

    Whole family loves this show
I have a nine year old and an eleven year old I have introduced to this podcast and they are obsessed. Every time we get in the car they ask if there is a new episode. It a perfect show for us. We all are very interested in disasters and this show is clean and to the point. No language or content issues Excellent job ! Great to listen to

    Love this program.
Anyone think of doing episode/s on the 1953 tornado event in Worcester MA?
  • hawthornekm
    Really??
Did you just say climate change is completely outside of human control? What is this?!
  • Thedaywerevolt
    Thorough and Interesting! However...
I thoroughly enjoy this podcast. I think your research is thorough, and I like the presentation. You have chosen some very interesting stories. However, I wish to point out that at least two of your episodes were not “natural disasters” at all. The Great Molasses Flood nor the Toxic Flood of Hungary are technically natural at all. These were caused by man-made structures that failed. While the stories are both interesting and intense, they are not natural disasters. Please continue with true natural disasters. I think it may be time for a Loma Prieta episode. (That occurred on my fifth birthday!) Keep up the good work!
  • Sardind
    Awesome
    This is sooooooooooooooo good!
  • Kwallyk
    Love the stories
I love the stories and the amount of research that goes into each episode is impressive, but the narrators talk SO STINKING SLOW. I have to listen to it on 1.5x or 2x speed. Also, the male narrator pronounces every the like thee, which gets irritating.
  • Marty10190000000
    Amazing podcast. Very well researched
I listening to this pod when im on long trips It never disappoints Its packed with knowledge and insights Keep up the good work
  • jlani-90
    They hardly cover anything recent
They don’t cover enough of the more recent disasters. Why is almost everything they cover dated before 1920?????? There have been so many fascinating natural disasters just in the past 20 years. They barely touch on any of them. It’s weird. Switch it up a little.
  • Sidewalkvocals
    Excellent topic choices and delivery
I love the topics they choose! Even though I’ve watched documentaries on the same events/disasters, I still find new info in all of these episodes. (It’s also not exploitative or sensationalistic, which is wonderful and also rare for this genre.) All in all, I’m a huge fan.

    BCE and CE
So one arbitrary day, eras were common or uncommon? How common was the era? How uncommon was the other era? I have visited Pompey and even climbed Vesuvius, so I wanted to hear the podcast, but it was too annoying to listen to.
  • RedMtMom
    Great show
I’m always looking forward to the next episode. Interesting, historically informative, well written and told.

    Terrible
Like every other Parcast podcast this is monotone, boring and drags on far too long while repeating the same facts over and over. I want to know about these topics, but none of their podcasts are worth the dull, over produced experience.
  • 🐼🐷🙉🐦
    Fav podcast
Don’t listen to the haters this is my favorite podcast ever 😊😊 I love how interesting these stories are and how well informed they are. It takes a story and tells it from different views
  • amberjane05
    Horrible
I am guessing you are not in the same room or timeframe While “hosting” this natural disaster. I love the content, but it sounds like an audiobook. It would be so much better to have the dialogue and not the pieced together like a poorly produced audiobook
  • Bschora
    Love the stories.
Even with Bill & Kate’s overdramatic narrative, the stories are engaging. These are, after all, historic events. After listening to several, the narration becomes more tongue-in-cheek, like narration noir. I like it. It’s fun to anticipate where Bill will go uber dark and intense.
  • Killer4783
    Love parcast
Just one thing. Please stop posting trailers for new feed or show in all parcast shows. I'm subscribed to so many parcast shows and because of that when you post the trailer for a new podcast in all parcast podcasts I get the same notification 10 times all at once. Also please don't post episodes of other shows in different podcasts. The feed of a certain podcast gets very confusing and difficult to navigate. Other than these two complaints, I love the content of all parcast podcasts.
  • Packer2020
    Sound/ mic issues
This show employs a 2 host setup where the job of narration switches from one host to the other and back again. Eg., host #1 reads for a bit, then host #2 reads for a bit, and so on. Please stop w/ the 2 host setup b/c usually one mic is too high and the other too low. I’m not going to adjust my volume a million times during the course of a podcast episode. I’d rather not listen and/ or unsubscribe especially when there’s a million other podcasts that do not have this volume issue.
  • KillinMyVibes
    Too scripted?
Can a podcast be too scripted yes...the hosts sound like robots and never change their tone. (And that goes for all the Parcasters) It gets boring after a while:/
