NikisNotesGrateful to find Dr. Ruscio’s podcastFor 2.5 years, I’ve been working to heal from long COVID and all the health challenges that have stemmed from it (vertigo is my most debilitating symptom). I wish I had found Dr. Ruscio sooner. I’ve been binging the podcast and cried when he gently, in so many words, discourages you from labeling yourself as “chronically” sick but to instead just realize you are still working on the solution. First, I found his Elemental shakes (which taste great) and I got tested for SIBO. It came back negative so I continued searching for answers. After all the neurologists and specialists I’ve seen, I listened to the histamine episode and had an ah-ha moment. I feel like I’m putting more pieces together (I’m going to show my vestibular therapist his histamine PDF). Also, he so kindly and thoughtful answers questions on Instagram. Hopefully I’m finally on the other side of this soon and will write about the whole process to try to help others. Thank you to Dr. Ruscio for all you do and share (and for caring).

listeningloverOne of the best!Informative, thorough explorations of current health issues. Dr Ruscio is knowledgeable and empathetic.

Starving in HotlantaBest of its kindDr Ruscio’s podcast is my favorite health podcast I’ve found so far, it’s informative, always based on fact or personal experience ( which is always clarified by him or his guests) and most importantly done with respect for his listeners time. He doesn’t go on and on with information overload or self-aggrandizing behavior. He presents the information in a way that we can comprehend and absorb. I recommend the show highly and have shared many episodes with other people.

Bml63Realistic and doable adviceHave been listening to the podcast ever since I began reading Healthy Gut. Months into working through my gut issues - primarily constipation-I’ve learned a lot, but found contradictions among other authors. On vacation recently I began lowFODMAP eating and within 10 days was feeling much better. Especially appreciate the focus on step by step action, clearly delivered in the book, and not pushing to have lots of tests!
-
ABC3 girlsLove your podcast!Your podcast on constipation and reflex was super helpful! Thank you for the great advice and sharing all your knowledge!

Irisch123Good episodeMost of us know that these foods reviewed are healthy but the Dr. tells us why. Eat your berries!

lembballHelpful informationInformation is presented that is supported by research and/or rooted in effective clinical care. I’ve learned a lot about the gut from this podcast. Thank you!

nightngale1998The Best Podcast for Making Sense of the ScienceThis review is long overdue. I love listening to your podcast and look forward to them. Dr Ruscio you have a knack for making sense of the data that you regularly include in your podcasts. You make it easy to stay informed of the latest research for functional healthcare and nutrition. Thank you and keep up the good work. It is definitely one of my favorite podcast to listen to regularly.

Andover PotteryOne of my favorite podcasts!I love Dr. Ruscio and how he brings such informative health information that can help my day to day decisions. He reviews complex studies and breaks them down in very simple straightforward language. I am very grateful for this podcast!

77t-bird77Huperizine aThe talk on Huperizine a was excellent. At age 73, female, having had severe cognitive impairment from toxic mold coupled with Bartonella and gut issues from undiagnosed Celiac I recovered a great amount of my acuity over the last 23-29 years by addressing these issues. The uncovering of MCAS and treatment with calcium d gluterate and a grain- free diet boosted my health dramatically. Now working from Dr Dale Bredesen suggestion I started Huperizine-a but was not using it correctly. This podcast straightened me out! The largest benefit I notice is an increase in hormones to the point where my libido and vaginal moisture was increased. I was already on bio identical hormone treatment (implants) for 23 years BUT no one could figure out why my free testosterone was low and SHBG very high. I’m excited about testing these parameters now that I’m on a more efficacious use of Huperizine-a. Thanks for the info!!
-
GrewrobExcellent science based functional medicineI’m finally feeling good thanks to Ruscios science based functional medicine approach. I had floundered for years with brain, fog, depression, extreme fatigue, and G.I. pain while following traditional, functional medicine approaches. I’m so grateful for ruscio‘s ability to cut through the well-intentioned, often unhelpful, typical functional medicine approach.

SamalamalinglongAmazingPodcast is great especially about comprehensively covering factors effecting healthy guy maintenance, Dr. Ruscio and Dr. Huberman are my two favorite research scientist podcasters!!

Katie_817Disappointing lack of humilityI was pretty disappointed with Dr. Ruscio’s approach when discussing chronic fatigue and EBV with Dr. Tufenkian. He was clearly prefacing the episode with his own bias and that his thinking is superior. And to hear of a functional medicine provider dismissing homeopathy because there aren’t enough studies is discouraging. Almost every patient comes to a functional provider after being dismissed by conventional medicine because there simply isn’t research done on diagnoses, treatments, homeopathies, etc. when there isn’t money to be made. Or when a patient is suffering from a lesser known or troubling disease. I was surprised that he wasn’t even aware if homeopathies were studied or not. Clearly there is not a huge drive to study something like homeopathy- that is under the umbrella of the brokenness of conventional medicine. I just feel that as a functional medicine provider, while every doctor should always strive to rely on science, it is so inappropriate to not treat or to withhold possible helpful treatment simply because no one has cared to study it in depth. I’m not saying to be unwise or knowingly cause possible harm but listening to Dr. Ruscio was a huge red flag for me feeling that I would not be heard or trusted as a patient if I was experiencing something “weird” or undocumented. It was honestly a bit triggering. Almost every patient that looks to functional medicine has already been left high and dry in regard to conventional medicine not having a perfectly documented diagnosis and treatment. It seems so obvious to me that a functional provider shouldn’t be surprised with the lack of research on many of the illnesses for which patients seek functional medicine. Choosing to be a functional medicine provider means you have chosen to put in your own work, to take in your own anecdotal data as Dr. Tufenkian described. That is truly listening and caring for hurting patients. The best functional doctors are ones themselves who have suffered and been let down by conventional medicine and I do not sense this humility and heart in Dr. Ruscio. So many of us who have illnesses that are dismissed by conventional medicine need more effort than what Dr. Ruscio seems willing to provide.

Kannian31415Functional medicine/ nutrition for regular peopleThank you for not only sharing your experience and expertise with functional medicine, but also letting us know what tests may or may not be needed immediately. I don’t have several thousand dollars extra right now, so I appreciate your straightforward information. Thank you! (I will wait with a stool test right now)

Kate-O-NPRecommend to all functional medicine cliniciansI deeply respect Dr Ruscio’s pragmatic and evidence based approach to the practice of functional medicine. It’s very refreshing. This podcast is a source of reliable evidence based information and very well done. As a clinician, I find his review of the most recent research and interviews with leaders in the field informative and well balanced. If I could give this podcast 10 stars, I would. I would love to work with Dr Ruscios team some day as I believe they are leading the field of functional medicine in the right direction. Thanks you de Ruscio and team for all you do to put out such a high quality and informative show!
-
annav14Wide range of health topicsI enjoy the breadth of information on this podcast. The guests are really interesting and well respected health professionals. I’ve found the topics to be interesting and new.
-
Pelvic healthGreat, informative podcast!I have been listening to Dr. Ruscio's podcast for over a year now, I always find the discussion interesting and while I often do my own research regarding products, etc. I do appreciate that there is great discussion involving literature and evidence behind various approaches, products, conditions helping to inform the population. It is easy to listen too, and engaging.

Johnson Navin RPainfully Slow with Numerous Interruptions to Sell His Products and ServicesAs the title states, this podcast is painfully slow and has too much idle chatter. Making matters worse, there are multiple interruptions to sell his products and services. If the commercials were all in one block, I could at least skip them at one time. However, they pop up multiple times during the show. They're annoying. And, pointless, as I always skip them. Today, however, while listening to the latest episode, I had enough and I'm skipping the entire podcast. I'm unsubscribing and deleting it from iTunes. I previously recommended Michael's podcast, blog, and clinic, but it's too much in-your-face marketing. I have no issue with people needing to make money. Obviously, he runs a business. But, the fact that his book, blog, and podcast episodes constantly drives people to his online store to buy his own products and services is too repetitive and annoying. This shouldn't be surprising, I suppose, as this is the path most "alternative" providers follow. It's disappointing, however, because I thought Michael was different. However, he's just like everyone else.
-
high plateau girlDoctor as patientLoved the show where the doctor talks about being a patient to learn about the quality of his sleep. He accurately portrays the arrogance and inappropriateness of the ways doctors often interact with patients. So much appreciated. Start with the basics, keep things affordable, don’t pathology is a healthy patient. I have had so many diagnoses without basis. Thank goodness, unlike most patients, I realize there was actually nothing wrong.
-
Blessed2bless othersThank youSo I’ve been diagnosed with esophageal dismotility and your show is helping me with alternative therapy as the medical field has failed me in so many ways. I’m now on a feeding tube that I’m determined to get away from and I believe I will with more info
-
OneGratefulHumanNot balanced enough.Great interview skills, but unfortunately as much as he claims to be open minded, he allows the guest to determine the narrative even if the claims are incorrect. Allowing guests to disparage products while marketing their own based on partial and incorrect information made me lose trust, and question motives. When you claim to fact check, it is a good practice to actually do it, and provide that information.
-
EricaBushwellAwesome podcast!Dr. Ruscio, host of the Dr. Ruscio Radio podcast, highlights all aspects of health, wellness and more in this can’t miss podcast! The host and expert guests offer insightful advice and information that is helpful to anyone that listens!

-
MariaP_SFantastic podcast. Full of well researched Information.I love these podcasts because they are full of great health information that is backed by good researched. The functional medicine arena needs to change and Dr. Ruscio is heading that effort. Grateful.
-
yogajunkeegirlScience-based and helpI really love this podcast and how Dr. R explains clinical info so that it can be understood. I really appreciate the science and real life experience behind the information being shared. This is a fantastic podcast to receive trial studied health information that you can be easily understood and not dumbed down.
-
altdaddyGlorified sales and marketing castSome decent information, but often just information couched in a sales pitch for a book, product, program, etc. And, the worst part is he chastises providers who have something to sell. He has little self awareness. On the podcast with PaleoValley entrepreneur, they repeatedly refer to listeners as consumers and customers. I know you have to make a living, but at least be aware that is what you are doing and don’t assume you are superior to or above others doing the same thing.
-
momofqueensFull of knowledge!!You have so much knowledge about things such a sibo, gut issues because of fodmaps, etc. I’ve never found anyone that seemed to have any tips on this stuff! Own some products from your website and absolutely love all of the information you provide us listeners with :)
-
Juana PoareoFull of practical gemsDr. Ruscio has a terrific rapport with his guests, and offers plenty of practical advice to his listeners. People tend to poo poo functional medicine doctors but I have a great respect for them. As someone who has an autoimmune disorder (Hashimoto's), I've struggled to get a handle on this and haven't been able to find a doctor who truly understands what I've had to deal with so finding this podcast has been a blessing. Highly recommend!

srizona231SosoToo much personal chit chat... too much negativity about other people..
-
BeMeta_HealthI highly recommend for healthcare practitionersI’ve been very impressed with Dr. Ruscio’s carefully researched and evidence based discussions on his podcast. He enforces that healing protocols and diets need to be individualized (treat the patient not the lab test) and I appreciate his call to avoid the trap of over-testing. As a healthcare provider I listen to a lot of “experts” talk about their recommendations and I appreciate his nuanced and balanced approach. He takes lots of time to stay up to date on the research and share his findings with this community. I’ve bought his book “Health Gut Health You” and I’m using his products and implementing his approaches In my practice. Thanks for sharing your expertise with the World Dr. Ruscio!
-
samarah martinAwesomeLove this podcast! So much information & broken down well to easily understand!! Love his approach :)
-
ccm52Functional medicine at its bestDr Ruscio takes a measured approaches to solutions. Weighing multiple factors and first going with the path that’s least problematic first. His evidence based approach for probiotics is very sound. He asks very insightful questions to his guests and has a way of simplifying complex topics. This is one of my most favorite podcasts ever.
-
NursebayFunctional Medicine at it’s best.I love this podcast! He backs up his information with the highest level of studies and is not merely randomly throwing out biased information. I learn so much from listening. As a healthcare provider I respect him as a provider and as a health care consumer I respect his integrity and desire to help people. He is not afraid to go against popular beliefs and he has the research to back up his claims.

Tashie PooWorth your time!Dr. Ruscio does the work for you by reviewing the latest science, and breaking it down in a way that even a non-medical professional can easily understand. He is thorough, informative, and always one of my favorite podcasts to listen to!

canine/catSpeedHi, I like your podcast but I don't know how to listen at a faster speed. Maybe I just don't know how to. I'm not very tech savvy. Thanks, George Porter

Amanda MalacheskyDeep Dives for DaysI started listening to Dr Ruscio Radio early in my training as a health coach (4 years ago). Even after all these years, Dr. Ruscio continues to come up with interesting topics and have really knowledgable and helpful guests. I have learned a lot professionally and personally. I really appreciate that Dr. Ruscio is committed to being guided by research, and ways to reduce the cost of delivering functional medicine. Whether you have gut issues, mold, MCAS, thyroid problems, or something else, you’ll find practical, useful solutions and approaches to help guide your care, or to support your patients and clients.
-
Ami _ KGreat podcast for doctors and patientsGreat information for doctors! I use links to Dr. Ruscio’s podcasts all the time to educate patients on aspects of their health that we are working on. I’ve also learned a lot about various topics myself in clear, informative podcasts that keep me interested all the way to the end.
-
AltdocWears over timeThere’s good information here but it becomes ‘preachy’ and repetitive after 2-3 episodes.
-
Mr SinalinaninProgressionI’ve wanted to say for a while that I very much appreciate dr Ruscio’s progression as a podcaster. When I first listened I felt he was always contrarian, and as much as I am also...there seemed to be a ‘moment’ when he really got that the direct contrarian root is redundant. That’s probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever said but thanks dr for keeping your mind open enough to evolve the show to where I could dig it
