One of the best podcasts out there
Consistently strong guest list with a host who genuinely seems interested in the people he’s speaking to. These aren’t interviews, they’re conversations, and the difference is notable in a positive way. 10/10
  • mattie_matilda
    Interesting but...
The host is way too self-involved. He does not like to share the spotlight and constantly talks over the guests. It’s too bad because the conversations are absolutely fascinating.

Fantastic converstaions with an eclectic lineup of guests
I've been listening to the Distraction Pieces podcast for over a year now, and have yet to get bored with an episode. While listeining to each new episode, I also worked my way back through all the past episodes. I LOVE the eclectic array of guests that Scroobius Pip gets on, and that the episodes cover the silly (check out the Drunkasts) to the serious (check out the episodes on homelessness, human trafficking, etc), and everything in between. Mostly I love listening to interesting people talk about their journey pursuing their passion, it's always inspiring and a good reminder to me to do what I love.

    Excellent!
Find all my podcasts from ones I already listen to and I heard him on another podcast having no idea who he was or his work and I just love it so fun and interesting and smart and really entertaining! Oh! And then I downloaded one of his albums and really love it!
  • ilmccarthy1302
    It’s all about him
Interjects too much and constantly looking to create links between his guests experience and his own, however tenuous. Would be better if he gave more space for his guests to talk and open up. Comes across as egotistical, which I’m sure isn’t true

    Fantastic!
    Always thoughtful & entertaining.

    Pleasant surprise
I had never heard of Scroobius Pip before he did a guest spot on Doug Loves Movies. I tried Distraction Pieces and was hooked immediately. Now I look forward to each new episode.

    Finally a Brutally Honest Podcast!!
Absolutely terrific. Pip is sincere, intelligent and doesn't have an agenda. His interviews are deep and introspective without being pompous or annoying. Even if I'm not partial to the subject matter, I'm still engaged. Do yourself a favor and listen to this podcast...

    My own personal podcast
Love this podcast, As varied the guests are, they always have a genuine point of interest. Scroobes is a great interviewer, a bit like a less pompous louis theroux.

Ads take up 20 minutes of a 75 min episode...
the Amanda Palmer episode literally had 14 minutes of ads before it even started, never mind after. I’ve been subscribed but this is getting a bit much!

    Good stuff
I found out about this podcast when Riz Ahmed was on and I don’t know how it hasn’t blown up. I have a feeling it’s poised to. Scroobius Pip is good at bringing the best out of people and just look at the guest list already! If you enjoy the guests that show up on this podcast and seemingly nowhere else, check out The Champs w/ Neal Brennan and Moshe Kasher. I enjoy this one a bit more but that’s good for this sort of stuff too. - B

    Worth your time
Scroobius Pip always has interesting things to say, and his guest list is stellar. The people he has on are liminal and I’ve never regretted taking the time to listen. Delighted to be able to subscribe for regular doses of distraction!

    Great Show
Having just listened to the first 5 episodes I am now hooked. These are interesting conversations which turned me on to a variety of talented people. I first heard Pip on The JRE and purchased his catalogue of work to date. He is a very likable person for many reasons including his knowledge, enthusiasm, and humor. I really appreciate Pip’s willingness to share his world through fun stories and compelling discussions.
  • Boyer75
    Excellent!
I love to hear what Pip has to say! I got turned on to him through his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast. I would love if you were to put up a video of your future podcasts as well. Keep up the great work!
  • RumpledForSkin
You see a mouse trap, I see an interesting dude
I first heard him on Joe Rogan Experience, and since have listened to that podcast 3 times, which is rare for me. This dude is one of the most interesting artists of any kind, imo. This podcast is must subscribe for anyone that is open minded and likes a free thinker.

    Brilliant!
Absolutely refreshing! This podcast is genuine, there's no boring agenda just humans sharing thoughts and ideas. It's a beautiful thing. Pip is bringing the lost art of conversation back. The more knowledge you give the more you get right back. :)
