    Still My favorite Podcast
You are the best story tellers Scott and Forrest. Keep up the great work and always looking forward to hearing new stories.

    Awesome show
Love this podcast! The research they do and the legends they cover are in depth and very interesting. It’s very informative and also love the banter between them. Keep up the good work!

    Tabloid Radio
This used to be a well researched and intelligent discussion, but it has turned into childish ghost stories, alien invasions, and more of junk you can read in the National Enquirer.

This used to be a favorite
What happened to this show? It used to be so good and now it’s just a bad money grab. They stooped doing any work and just ramble on about nothing. But good heavens, it’s now 1 1/4 of rambling 10 mins of story and another repeating the story three times and bringing up something only to put it off for 3 weeks. I just can’t anymore. If they would only edit the shows to be 1 1/2 hours they could have a new one up every week and not have these long dark periods. There’s sometimes 3 weeks between shows and the the first 30 mins is reminding us of what they talked about last time. Now they’ve added a Patreon so we have to pay to get weekly shows.

    Realities Crossed
Listening to Astonishing Legends for a while, thought I left a review, but never did. Came back to see if I could leave another to find I never did, AND it’s on my two favorite podcasts, well 3 (Astonishing Legends, Timesuck & Scared To Death which are hosted by Dan Cummins). Both of these podcasts delve so deep into research & keep a person SO intrigued, sometimes for 2-3 hours, & I struggle with ADHD. I’ve learned so much from these podcasts, I can’t say enough. Excellent show all round. Also a shout out to Scared All The Time! Also, a fun listen! Not related to Scared to Death or Dan Cummins but eerily similarly named, and a branch out from Astonishing Legends. These are my GO TO podcasts. 💖✌🏻👻👽

    “Wanting to grow audience” haha
This phrase is constantly used by Scott but the show continues to deteriorate and be less frequent… not sure how they’re planning to grow this. Shame the show has dropped off so much. Used to be a gem, now it’s a dud (Forest, break away and do your own show)

    Love it
    Always fascinating, very well researched

    Astonished
This podcast is a gem! Perfect to kick back and discuss the subjects they bring up with friends. I love the community around strange lore and the paranormal that they have been able to build over the years.

    Great show
Really loved the show about Ambrose Bierce! It spurred me to get a book of all his weirdly wonderful stories. Always interesting & entertaining; impressive research and camaraderie

    Houska castle
Idk if it’s been done already but a segment on houska castle should be at the top of your list!

    11 years STRONG

    One of the Best Shows
I’ve been a long time listener to Astonishing Legends and I recommend it to everyone I know who has an interest in the paranormal, history or investigative reporting. Forrest and Scott are two of my favorite hosts. They delve into the subject matter expertly and both have approachable and open personalities that make the show a joy to listen to. Favorite series include the Sludge Entity, Sally House, true story of the Exorcist and all of the Halloween listener stories.

    Grimace!
Interesting to hear this tale, when I was a toddler I saw a full-size Big Bird walk into my grandparent’s shotgun-style kitchen from the back of their house. It ducked to get under the door frame. I never told anyone because I realized at a young age how unbelievable it was and I even questioned my own eyes. I was terrified of that kitchen from then on, even today 40 years later it gives me the heebie-jeebies!

    over 10 minutes of ads!!!
in a half hour episode there were literally over 10 minutes of ads!!!!! that’s insane!!!
  • Cartoon Monster
    Boring
Boring deep dives into boring subjects by two boring people, one with a high pitched feminine voice. With the occasional, refreshing interruption of a boring guest. It’s good if you want a nap, I guess.

    Love, without Hatem.
I listen to hundreds of podcasts, and Astonishing Legends has become a favorite. No hyperbole or people who think they are funny, deep dives worth taking into even familiar subjects. But good lord, Richard Hatem, what a bombastic moron. He is so pleased with himself. I cannot deal with that man.

Appreciate the level of info and research
My husband introduced me to the show a few episodes in to their first year and we’ve been listening ever since. I love the broad range of topics and GREATLY appreciate the level of research. I think some people have gotten used to the short bits of information given on other podcasts (like blurbs on ticktock) but they all repeat each other. this podcast does a great job of giving new or lesser known info about the topics.
  • AppleSauce105
    Love most episodes
Except the ones which Richard Hatam 👎🏻

    comforting
I was raised on Art Bell and George Noory, so I feel like paranormal shows are a bit conferring — call it nostalgia for the times when my family and I would listen to the radio and hear stories about bigfoot. This is no different, and it take me right back to those memories. I love this show! It accompanies me at work, on walks, drives, etc. I especially loved the Number Stations episode. I also love Mel’s Hole and the episodes about the Betz Sphere and Missing 411. I enjoy all of the details and energy and effort they put into researching their topics. For folks complaining about ads — just skip them? Thank you!

    Thanks so much!

    Has gotten worse
The ads and banter used to be tolerable, but over the last year or so it’s become so bad it’s not even worth listening to anymore. There’s plenty of other podcasts that fill the same role without having so many advertisements it feels like a cable TV show.

    Overall review 👌👏
I’m a journalist and these guys do an amazing amount of research! As a sailor I particularly enjoyed the tragic tale of the SS Kamloops on Lake Superior and its ghostly crew

    Other Shows are Better
This show has too many commercials that run too long and the show itself is stuffed with ridiculous extraneous and unnecessary information that doesn’t pertain to the topic, it is just garbage meant to pad the runtime. I’d recommend Expanded Perspectives and/or Mysterious Universe. When they get to the topic they generally stick to it and craft an interesting listening session whereas this show feels like a slog to get through.

    I tried
The best thing about this show was the cover art to lure you in. Wow, these guys ramble. Get to the point! The show could maybe three star if they cut out the cohost that just does color commentary. Not sure why there’s two people. Awful show. Good for you if you make money off this trash. Truly Amazing if you do. Really proves anyone could have a show. Unbelievable

    Get to the story
Ads are long and drawn out and too much rambling. Get to the story!
  • Joyboy1977
    Had a good run
Really enjoyed the early episodes, but has tailed off considerably in the last couple years: as others have already reviewed, there is so much extraneous information and banter and ads that it detracts from the desired intention. Bonus star for introducing Scared All the Time, though - those two dudes have actual chemistry and humor.
  • Domenic 1997
    GOAT
Simply the best, if I had one complaint it would be that the episodes aren’t longer. I’ve been listening since the very beginning and I just want to say thank you for all your hard work.

    The best
Simply put - the best podcast out there. I’ve listened to plenty of episodes and can’t anything to complain about, I really don’t know how the hosts and the team do everything perfect. Absolutely the best, I’m so happy I found it!!
  • NJ-GandyDancer
    Outstanding!!
I’ve been listening since “The Devil in the Diner” and was hooked since day one! Great subjects and a refreshing take on the paranormal! Kudos to you and your team!

Stories are trash. They take more pride in they’re commercials, rather then putting on an actual “show” dont waste youre time.

    Astonishing Legends YAY
This is my favorite podcast! If you're interested in supernatural, paranormal and weird topics these guys will do a deep dive on all of that and much much much more. Give it a listen, you will not be disappointed!

    Book Report Style
I remember as a kid I used to pad my homework with unnecessary facts. This podcast is kind of like that. Is it cromulent? No, not really. But it’s good for putting my restless brain to sleep.
  • Chris-Stephany
    Ughh
They believe in quantity not quality. Old episodes are good. Last couple years they babble for an hour and a half, with very little meat on the bone in terms of actual information about the topic.
  • Vdubbing
    Tired of hearing from others
Been listening to this show since 2015. The most recent Hawaii night marchers finally got a review from me. I’m tired of listening to a podcast I don’t subscribe to, then when they finally get one out they worry about cultural appropriation and have someone else on. I’m not subscribing anymore it’s no longer the same people doing the show constantly guests speakers or random shows pushed on me.
  • devil zilla
Can’t hear the Forest for the brook
(Not) great, Scott! Talk less and never try to be funny. Show appears to operate under the delusion that Scott is the straight man keeping everything on track for fear of Forest wandering away with it into a woo woo nowhere land. The truth is Forest displays a like able self awareness concerning his genuine oddness, while Scott prattles on obviously oblivious to his high cringe count. Flip the script and have Forest take point.
  • KB1130
Good show, a little too much rambling
I popped over here from Haunted Cosmos and I like the content, but the hosts ramble a LOT. Some people like that, some people don’t. Since I felt frustrated trying to find the meat of the stories, this isn’t the show for me.
  • muzeget
    New listener!
Love the show I have been back listening to all the episodes during my house cleaning or car rides! I like how try to find logical explanations but aren’t afraid to admit that some things are beyond explanation! Regarding oak island please check out Cracking the Shakespeare Code and please check out doing a show about the copper cauldrons in Syberia’s valley of death!
  • thegreatbawlz
    Umm
20 minutes to actually get to the topic. That’s just rediculus. It’s unfortunate, because the research is somewhat complete.
  • Bay1067
    Don’t care for banter
12 minutes in and I’m still waiting for the story. A little too much banter back-and-forth for me
  • Slugppl
Always skip the first 15 minutes
Always skip the first 15 minutes, it’s nothing but lame banter and commercials. The show is alright some good indie but they hosts are a pretty cringy sometimes with how whitebread they are.

    The Best!
I LOVE you guys. Your research that includes so much history, understanding of topics, rep-ore with guests and each other, humor tempered with compassion—-makes a winner. And guess what. If I’m not enjoying a topic, I click to another week! People that complain about such things are probably negative a lot and not wildly contented folks. I am a granny in my 70’s, a retired teacher. I tell you this to give you an greater indication of the scope of your listeners. I have been listening for several years and look forward to MANY more. Thank you to your entire team.
  • Nelson51984
    Still great
I’ve been listening since 2020, I started from the first episode. I have always loved the “Fortean” stuff. They do great and extensive research. I feel like the people complaining about episodes being too long or there being too much info just might not be into those specific topics. I will be a fan til the end!

    Best Paranormal Show Around
This is truly a show that stands the test of time. I’ve been listening for years and still eagerly awaiting new episodes. I really appreciate the balanced perspective and thoroughness of this show, even if it makes for long episodes. The story telling is evocative without being sensational. I enjoy it when Scott and Forrest cover new topics, as well as offer insightful perspectives into well-loved ones. Thank you all at astonishing legend for making my commute relaxing and thoughtful.
  • Jennyjennjen457
    High quality
I’ve been listening since the very early days of the show and can’t believe I never left a review. This show is so well researched and has great production quality. I feel like Scott and Forest and old friends at this point. I cannot recommend this show enough. You’ll learn a lot and have a great time doing it.
  • Redhawkdown
I hope the good drowns out the bad
Been listening since 2017 and won’t be stopping!
  • Fooled listener.
    Cannot get to the point.
I can’t believe I wasted an hour on this garbage. These guys cannot get to the point. On mela hole I learned more about fax machines, coast to coast, names of towns bridges and people in Washington. But very little about the actual subject. What a waste!
  • SavannahJD03
Long time listener - this is a quality podcast
So many self important people leaving reviews saying that their time is so valuable (really? You're listening to a podcast!) and the butthurt MAGAts getting upset when anyone presents real facts and whine on and on about the hosts being to political. Give me a break. You call anything political if it has even the slightest basis in facts and reality - you have to, because in order to be in the butthurt MAGAt cult, you have to suspend belief and all semblance of common sense. Yes, they can be a bit long winded, but they are journalists who dive deep into a topic. If you have the attention span of a gnat and don't listen to podcasts to relax, then no, you won't like this podcast, but to think you are so special and will be missed - here's a hint - you won't be. I, along with many long time listeners, appreciate this podcast and since I've started listening in 2015 to now, have seen them weather and withstand whiners like these latest few negative reviewers by staying true to long form investigative looks at a topic and maintaining a strong following. I look forward to their new episodes. If you are interested in a balanced and in depth review of the paranormal, you'll likely like AL. Good riddance to those fools!
  • npgirl64
    Too Long Winded
Many of the topics sound good, but get buried under the considerable amount of just useless OR repetitive info. Rarely does a topic need more than 2 Parts or 2 Hrs, but that’s what many get. The hosts’ egos have grown along with the show, and their Political views often get thrown in at the expense of the story. Just give us the facts & the story… not endless banter that can be done on your own time. Six 2 HR Episodes on the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film? Resurrection Mary Parts 1-4?? No Thank You.
