Join bloggers Kid Fury and Crissle for their weekly podcast covering hip-hop and pop culture's most trying stars. As transplants to New York City (Kid Fury from Miami and Crissle from Oklahoma City), The Read also serves as an on-air therapy session for two friends trying to adjust to life (and rats) in the big city. The Read is part of the LoudSpeakers Network and is published every week on iTunes, iHeart Radio Talk, Soundcloud & Stitcher.

    It might be time ……
There was definitely something up with the chemistry on last weeks show. 10+ years and yall haven’t changed up the flow of the show really beside KF adding his “sports shorts”. I am a long time listener and super fan, but I would like to hear a refresh! As creative as they both are, I’m sure it won’t be hard. The fans can feel the disconnect and it’s getting really uncomfortable to withstand 🥺

    A break please.
This last episode yall… yikes on a bike. Between Kid barely speaking clearly, passing over his segments by only mentioning them, the sighs & huffing and Crissle only gaf about topics if it pertains to her dog… yall need a break BADLY. Yall literally sound like yall don’t care anymore. I can understand since it’s been afloat since 18’ but please, take a break for your mental health and your audience

    Love the podcast but…
After listening and loving the show for many years, I find recently it’s been getting harder and harder to hear what kid fury is saying. I know sometimes he is soft spoken, so can whoever is editing the show please turn up the volume of his mic so it is easier?

    Is the thrill gone?
Seems like this is turning into an “I hate Jonathan majors” podcast. I’m okay with them not liking Majors, but dang, can the dislike become indifference and topics about him just be avoided?
  • Woddle321
    An established ICON already!
PLEASE STOP worshipping false gods aks Beyoncé. She would not do the same for ya’ll. I agree, you BOTH are over this show.

    Changes are necessary…
I am a long time listener and have experienced Crissle and Kid Fury’s ups and downs. Crissle has been very transparent about her past and different methods of coping mechanisms. Which she has acknowledged, faced, dealt with and overcome. It seems as though, recently Kid Fury is dealing with personal issues and those issues are affecting the mood and flow of the show. Crissle does her best to keep a balance, but it is noticeable. Also, Kid Fury’s slurred and mumbled speech and approach to the different segments of the show comes off as uninterested. Take time, heal, and come back when you are ready. Your faithful listeners will be here ❤️

    losing steam
Last few episodes have been just okay. It seems like burnout which they’ve talked about on the show before. Im all for seasonal hiatuses if needed. As a listener, I hope that more enthusiasm will be brought to the segments or change the segments to align more with the hosts’ passion. Lots of mental health talk - hope they bring back crissles couch segment so listeners can choose to listen to therapy/mental health stuff if they want or skip it or once a month have crissle do a solo short ep focused on mental health and invite experts every so often to spice things up

    They don’t care anymore.
I followed this podcast since 2015. And yeah, it was sloppy for a while, but I felt like I was talking to my friends. At this point, they are so entirely detached. Before the pandemic, I ran into crystal as she was leaving the equinox at Columbus Circle and she wanted nothing to do with me. I never ran into kid fury, but his struggle with mental health really resonated with me. And now it just feels like they do what they want when they feel like it. I literally have no idea how to pay my rent next month. I don’t know… It just feels like they’re so out of touch… And in my case, it just feels a little insulting.

    THE BEST!
Kid Fury and Crissle are so funny and so real and so honest and so raw. Love this show so much! It has taught me many things and grateful that they take the time to share it with us.

    Overall love this podcast!
This podcast has gotten me through some tough days so I will always support Kid Fury & Crissle. I have appreciated watching their growth as people over the years of listening to the podcast. My only critic is about the Target ads. With what Black folk are doing as far as boycotting Target, it feels like a misread given Targets position on DEI. That’s the only reason I took away a star. Otherwise, I love the podcast and recommend it to anyone I know that doesn’t currently listen.

    Black excellence
Just wanted to say I love yall and will always support yall. F Target though. I roll my eyes at those ads but I won’t skip em 🫶🏽. Thank you for 12 years of the good work.

    The dogs
I’m tired of hearing about those dogs!
  • k,thx. bye.
    We all love dogs..
.. but please. The dog talk is becoming too much. Becoming a dog parent has clearly become Crissle’s personality and that’s nice. But we don’t need an entire segment EVERY EPISODE about it.

    Top Tier Entertainment Pod!
The Read gets me through anytime I need to escape and feel like I’m with my people without physically being with my people.
  • iLy_TooMuch
    Most relatable and sensible podcast
So many recent idiotic negative comments just wanted to add my 2¢
  • Kuwilileni
    Target add was tone deaf
I love the Read but have decided to stop listening after the most recent Target ad, Black folks are actively boycotting them and for a podcast about culture to not understand the significance of that feels like a check matters more than holding the line. It’s as if they had a “just ride the bus!” ad during the Montegimery boycotts. The future is more important than monetary gains atm.
  • alsanchez268
    Target
I love these two so much and listen weekly with out missing. But lately continually hearing Target commercials throughout after they dismissed DEI makes me think they don’t take certain black movements seriously, especially if it impacts their pockets. These are all assumptions as the host have not even brought it up, which also makes me side eye. So if the capitalist commercials continue I’ll probably have to stop listening

    My favorite podcast
I just want to say this is by far my FAVORITE podcast!!! They definitely deserve all the accolades , awards, and praise! From being vulnerable talking about their personal lives, to speaking about the current political mess to dragging celebrities. You go through an abundance of feelings, but you definitely leave feeling lighter and happier. I don’t know how they do it. Love Kid Fury and Crissle for all they do!
  • jenuinejem
    too many ads
two ads in the middle of the black excellence? this show is just mainly ads now. i mean i get it because i want them to have their money but this is ridiculous.

    crissle’s laugh
the only podcast i laugh out loud to. and every time crissle starts laughing with her whole soul and she has to step away from the mic i start howling too. yall bring me so much joy and perspective.
  • Brookie101010
    Disgustingly Racist
These two are outwardly racist on every podcast. I wonder how it would go down if two white hosts talked about how they wish only white people could vote so they can wipe out all the blacks. You are both so unintelligent and hypocritical it’s laughable.
  • Noorbadashhh
    Love it.
One of my favorite podcasts thank you The Read.
  • 😖🤦🏾‍♀️🫠
    Slow talking
These 2 talk so slow even speeding the playback up to 2x is still slow lol so hard to listen to because of it

    Where have I been?!
Just started listening and I wish I had started sooner. I lowkey want to play episodes back to back to get caught up. I love it here. For those displaced by the ending of The Bodega Boys and The Black Girl Bravado, this is our new home.
  • PURE_HEAVN
    One sided pod now
The opinions don’t seem leveled anymore. The Drake & Kendrick situation for example is extremely biased. I like podcasts that point out the b.s of BOTH parties, because I want to hear it ALL, but when they do comparisons with celebrities it seems to be biased based off of who they LIKE personally. It’s like caping for their personal faves… I dunno, show feels different.

    Great podcast!

    Struggling
Long time listener here. I say this with the utmost respect and care, but as a listener, it's been difficult for me to continue tuning in. I hope this feedback doesn't come off as insensitive, but it's hard to engage with the content when it feels so heavy. I'm rooting for you and hope that you're able to find peace and support in this difficult time.

    The ultimate fall off🤷🏾
Way too much dog talk… It’s kind of weird and creepy listening to y’all talk about sleeping in the bed with your dogs and putting them in expensive clothing.

    The spirit of giving
Me and my bestie mention frequently that we deserve a quarterly mailbag episode. I’ll take this as a reminder to keep hope alive!

Just want to tell you guys thank you for being my comic relief yesterday I had a root canal I needed to take my mind off of the root canal procedure while in the chair and listen to you guys as I do every week your comic relief and funny puns really help me while I was getting this nightmare root canal done I appreciate you guys. I hope you’re well. Kid f I hope that you’re well. I think about you a lot I’ve shared the same struggles in the past. And Cristle I’m super inspired by your ability to go back to college and pursue your career while adulting. Love y’all Rey

One of my FAVORITES for a long time.
I just wanted to leave a review for The Read because I’ve been listening for a quite a long time and I want to give them their just due. Crissle and Kid Fury are some of the funniest people to be doing this. Every week I listen and I just laugh. Sometimes I will talk back to the speaker like I’m in the podcast too. They are just so relatable and so grounded and I always love to hear their takes on various current events. I also love the questions segment. Some of those questions are out of pocket but I love the insight they provide! All in all I love this show so much. I hope they never stop making episodes because I will never stop listening.
  • luvabook
They are me if they did the Fusion Dance
I’m a mega nerd like Fury and very vocal and militant like Crissle. To find both aspects of myself be fulfilled so well within two people gives me so much joy. I’ve heard every episode (EVERY. EPISODE) since a friend of mine put me on back in 2017. I’ve listened to all of it and I’m tempted to start over and listen everything from the very beginning... Ya are amazing! Continue being exactly who you were meant to be 💪🏾✊🏾

More mental health than pop culture
Not as much pop culture anymore, but still love these two! I get the feeling we're not getting The Read for much longer, so savoring every episode.😉
  • Annaïse
    Can’t hear you
Can someone please ask kid fury to speak up or enunciate? I’m catching every other word from him and that’s at full volume. Is he laying down when he records or something?
  • BreaChantelBryant
    I love the long episodes!
I know y’all try to keep the episodes under 2 hours, but I LIVE for the elongated commentary, rants and READS! I love you Kid Fury and Crissle 🙌🏾 We need another Read Tour!!!

    Laughs and mental health
As a middle-age white woman, I know I’m not Chrissle and Fury’s target audience, but this duo makes me laugh and think. I love how their conversations on mental health are rooted in friendship and how thoughtful they address listener questions. Thank you for the weekly laughs and the bump for my mental health!
  • YoTinaeri
    They shouted out, Eritrea!
Love the show and how real they always keep it. Always enjoy the black excellence and this week they shouted out Bini Girmaye 🇪🇷 made my day!!!!
