Skip unless you want to pay
Half of the content has to be paid for by joining a premium service. The ads are annoying too. I feel the show used to be good, but it’s not worth the price of the membership in my opinion.

Be prepared to fast forward A LOT
There is some good content here, but the amount of advertising per episode has increased dramatically. The episode lengths have decreased as well since introducing the premium podcast subscription. It’s out of budget for most people. I don’t pay that much for any other streaming service. Oh well, used to be good.

Has been my favorite podcast for years!
I’ve been an avid listener of the Half Size Me show for the past 14 years. I had the pleasure of having lunch with Heather way back in 2012 when I was having a lot of metabolic issues and she is such a kind person and great coach. The Half Size Me Show is a podcast I recommend to my own clients as a Hormones & Metabolism Coach. Heather keeps it real AND science based, dishing out practical advice and heartfelt support for anyone on a wellness journey. From nutrition tips to mindset hacks, she covers it all! Highly recommend listening!

    Inspiration with Integrity
I’ve been listening to Half Size Me for years and credit it for helping me build a lot of healthy habits and self love. Heather is a real person sharing her own path towards wellness while giving a platform and community to others looking to find their own way. Even my friends and family who don’t listen to the show know “Coach Heather” because I talk about her like she’s a friend. Thanks for all you do, Heather! I lost 60lbs and have been maintaining for 4 years and can’t begin to describe all the helpful strategies i’ve learned from Half Size Me. I also want to address some people’s negative reviews about aspects of the show. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m not discrediting that. But much of the criticism seems to involve Heather’s promotion of her work or the for-pay premium content...and some of it is downright mean. Heather deserves to make a living for the value she puts into the world. I’m so grateful for this labor of love, and thankful for the way the show has evolved and grown over the years. I recommend it to anyone who will listen!

Use to be great but now about $$
I have been listening to this podcast for a long time and want to update my review…I use to love this podcast because she offered 4 shows a month for free and when she went premium and locked older shows behind paywalls, I was fine with that since she offered more goodies (coaching call, Early shows etc) BUT now she has decided to take 2 shows out of the 4 and lock them behind the paywall…what? How can you even think 2 shows a month is fine when it always been 4…I didn’t even get upset when she switched her paid forum from monthly to 3 months upfront but this move leaves a terrible taste and I have decided she can have her 2 free shows…will find another podcast that didn’t get greedy..

    First Party Advertising.
I don’t know if that’s the right term. But first, this podcast is amazing and I will keep listening. However, the long-winded sales pitches for podcast premium are killing me. I’d prefer a 30 second commercial for anything else at this point. I know that you feel your integrity is important, Heather, but consider that the constant asks for listeners to ‘thank you’ by subscribing are chipping away at that. Maybe a recorded description of what you offer at the end of the episode is a possibility? Again, your content is excellent and has been super helpful for me, but you’re starting to drown out the quality content with all of the asking for subscribers. Also, please, the word is fRustrated, not fustrated. There’s another R in there. Thank you!

The content is fire, unless the guest audio is trash, oh god it's unbearable, you audio is always great. Try to get more male guest, woman are still good. I miss the interviews, the coaching guests were fun but now are super boring. Goodbye forever.

So much more than weight loss
This is not a show about weight loss. It’s a show about learning how to take care of yourself as an adult woman. It’s about coaching ourselves past our addictions, whatever they are. I hear Heather’s voice when I need to be a big girl and not give in to my anxiety and the toxic coping mechanisms of the past.

    Essential podcast!
I was introduced to Heather and her Half Size Me podcast from listening to the Chelsea Handler show and I’m so glad I took the suggestion from Catherine! I started listening to the podcast, enjoyed Heather’s concepts and methods, and reached out to her via email to schedule coaching. Our first conversation was a test run and went wonderfully and I have since been a private coaching client and avid listener of Heather’s since! I’ve heard all but 9 available podcasts through Apple Podcasts but can join the Podcast Premium community to listen to all the total podcasts (her number of episodes exceeds what’s available/allowed to be on Apple Podcast!). Heather is inspirational and I truly love listening to the podcast and especially have enjoyed her individual coaching sessions. She’s the best!

    Changed my life!
I’m 15 pounds down and living so much more free from binging and the habits that have haunted me and my body since middle school. Thank you Heather for living your life and for taking us on the journey with you! You changed my life. Looking forward to the next year and even the next 20 with my 4 kiddos and husband.

    Sane, compassionate, realistic advice
I found this podcast as I was nearing my goal of losing 50 lbs. Heather’s advice on weight loss maintenance set me up for long-term maintenance success. Her advice is so gentle, reasonable, sustainable and successful. If you struggle with any of these issues, Heather can help shift your mindset: binge eating, motivation and discipline, losing weight, maintaining weight, dieting, afternoon snacking, evening grazing, handling “forbidden” foods, emotional eating, eating out, tracking calories, impulsive eating, self-sabotage, all the greatest hits. She doesn’t offer a plan, but she helps you figure out a plan that works for you. Highly recommended.

    Sanity Saver
In a world of crazy, Half Size Me offers a sustainable, positive, realistic approach. Heather does a great job of framing realistic change based on what works for you. I now feel like a scientist of my own body/weight management plan. By setting minimums and setting goals at a low bar I can actually achieve, I trust myself more and I’ve lost 26 lbs in 5 months and I can keep this up till I reach my goals, gradually bringing in new habits I can live with. Check this podcast out today!

    Immediate sales pitch
I just listened to the podcast for the first time, and what struck me is that she immediately went right into a sales pitch about joining their paid community/program. Let us at least listen to what you have to say before you go into your sales spiel.

    Amazing!
Learn weight loss is such a realistic way! I have been dieting on and off for all of my adult life and this let me see it in a completely different way. I have been listening for months and am now 5 pounds away from my goal weight and it has been an enjoyable process. Love heather and all her teachings!

    Incredible show and community
I have been listening to Heather for years and have loved the focus on habits you can really do long term. I was resistant to joining the community because I didn’t want to spend the money, and over those years I lost and regained weight, finally gaining even more. I realize the cost of the Half Size Me membership is nothing compared to the costs of obesity with my blood pressure creeping up. I have loved being in the community, competing in the challenges and engaging with people at all stages in the journey. As much as I don’t want to admit it, I’m someone who needs accountability. 15 months postpartum and I lost all my pregnancy weight and 5 #s more so far, in a way I feel very comfortable with. Thanks for all you do, Heather!
  • PopMak
    Amazing!
If you want down to earth advice on how to lose weight and MAINTAIN this is your podcast. Heather goes out of her way to help people and gives the best, mindful advice out there!

    Great podcast!
I love listening to this podcast every Monday when I go running. Heather is very positive and encouraging. I have been on a weight loss journey for a while now and find myself using many of her suggestions and advice on losing weight. I highly recommend subscribing to this podcast.
  • Strong.Mom.Of.Two
Highly recommend!!! This podcast helped me tremendously, with more than weight loss.
I am so glad that this was the first podcast I tried when I first began my weight loss journey 6 months ago… after having two kids back-to-back and experiencing postpartum depression, I was binge eating/emotionally eating and felt like a stranger in my own body. Heather presents a practical and realistic approach with a focus on what’s sustainable… what is going to work for YOU (maybe not for your friend or the influencer or Instagram, because your life and body is your own!!!) and is something that you can see yourself doing - and be comfortable/happy doing it - for the long term. Thanks Heather, for all the content you provide. You have helped me in more ways than the scale could convey. I’m so grateful that I am once again feeling comfortable, capable, and confident in my own skin!!

    HSM podcast a trusted source
I lead 3 wellness groups through our church and use Heathers podcasts and YouTube videos as a resource we can trust for all the mindset work she guides us through. So grateful for the great content she literally gives away to help many on what can be a very tough journey for those of us who use food as a way to cope in life. Highly recommend this podcast
  • Positive Rose
    Tremendous Weight Loss Resource!
Heather is an inspirational woman who has personal experience with weight loss. Her no gimmick approach is sustainable for life. This podcast covers challenges in the weight loss journey but approaches them with a “big picture” mentality with strategies that fit into real life scenarios. It is evident in the coaching episodes that she really listens to her clients. She gives very specific advice on how they can achieve and maintain weight loss and still enjoy life. I listen to every podcast and learn something from each one.

    Great info
Heather gives the most sensible information about dieting and makes a point to never steer people towards one diet or another. She really gets into the nitty gritty of *why* we sabotage and how to work to not do it anymore. Highly recommend- if you have a body and have ever considered losing weight this will be great information.

    Heather is a lifesaver!
A friend suggested I listen to HSM & I don’t know what I would have done without Heather’s teachings. I have been on/off WW for years of lose/gain/quit/rejoin & just the last 3 months of listening has made me realize I needed to work on my thoughts before my weight. My head is now in a better place, I finally understand what “I” need to do for “Me” and the tools I have gained are fantastic! I am about 10lbs from my goal weight & am taking my time for a sustainable lifestyle this time & dumping the quick fix mentally, I finally see success in my future. Thank you, Heather, for the work you do.

    Honesty
I was very offended that this podcaster asked listeners not to leave negative reviews. Podcasters are always asking listeners to leave 5 star reviews to get their message out. They need to be able to accept the opposite end of that spectrum. I think it’s valuable to report to other listeners that this podcaster advertises her products. That allows future listeners to know what to expect when they tune in.

    Best health advice
I have been listening to this podcast for the last 3 years and continue to gain practical insights to consider as I learn to live a balanced and healthy life. The host and guests provide real examples of how to make healthy eating choices and boundaries while also considering and addressing other factors that impact our health such as activity, stress, sleep, emotions, boundaries, relationships. Heather reminds us to aim for realistic goals that are achievable and maintainable. I have greatly benefited from this podcast to implement healthy habits that have led to weight loss. Thank you!!

    Must listen
I can’t even fully describe how much this podcast has improved my life. I’ve lost 35 lb so far and am about halfway to my goal weight after postpartum depression and anxiety led me to binge eating. I’m confident in my ability to reach my goal and I’ve used the knowledge I’ve gained from this podcast to help in other areas of my life. Nothing in this method is drastic and I love how it’s completely tailored to each person based on what behaviors/habits can be carried through permanently. I’m not feeling hungry. I’m not exercising myself more than I want to. I’m eating foods I previously thought I needed to nix completely from my diet. Now I just make room for things and practice much more moderation. It’s more of a mindset change than anything and the basic concepts remain the same. I really wish this stuff could be taught in health classes to nip some of the diet culture problems before they take root in the next generation. If you’re having trouble losing weight, give this a listen.

    Highly recommend
I’ve been listening to this podcast since 2018, and Heather has the most consistent and relevant message of any podcast I’ve listened to. The “old” episodes are as valuable as the new ones because her message isn’t one that changes with the current fads. She also puts in a lot of work to research boundaries, habits, and the “mental work” of weight loss without promoting any particular diet. This podcast is for everyone who is interested in challenging their mindset about what weight management has to look like. It’s far from a “one size fits all” approach. Unlike the dieting industry, this show encourages finding what works uniquely for you while giving you several tools for support along the way. The host also offers so much of her wisdom FOR FREE and shows a lot of integrity by not accepting 3rd party advertisements on her show. I feel confident that I’m getting an unbiased viewpoint if she ever recommends a book because I know it’s one she genuinely believes in, since she doesn’t do ads for anything that isn’t her own product. I should have left this review sooner, but I had no idea how much the lessons from this podcast would stick with me over the years. It has truly changed the way I think about my health and habits.

    Ehhh…
A little about the reviewer- I’ve never been very overweight , mostly just vanity pounds or pounds I gain from eating too many deserts and usually no more than 15 pounds.. The good things about the podcast is the emphasis on maintenance and building habits and starting at where you are at now, so not trying to do drastic things.. The bad- I think the emphasis on calories and tracking can cause obsessive thinking about food.. I also think there is not enough emphasis on listening to your body.. I know many very overweight people that track and count calories, then binge likely because they are too deep into their own thoughts and white knuckling it.. . also the emphasis on the lower brain … wish we could call it some other name .. I find it silly to think we have a lower brain that sabotage us and an upper brain that look out for us.. I think that the whole brain looks out for us and tries to defend us from starvation.. and dieting suggests under eating.. constantly thinking about/planning/counting food- all that does is fuel the ‘lower’ brain, if that’s what you want to call it.. I think a better approach might be seeking out things to do with your time other than thinking about food.. seeking out therapy - perhaps if you are so overweight and are abusing your body with food , You might need more help.. and listening to your body , and fueling it with protein and fiber rich food and drinking water and exercising .. really, all the overthinking is just silly.. The other thing- the host asks her listeners not to leave a one star review if they disagree with her advertising her business on the show.. seems like a very self serving, narcissistic view to me .. we should have a right to leave a review about anything we don’t like or do like about the content.. that’s the point of freedom of speech/opinion…

    Maintenance
This podcast and YouTube videos were the missing link to successful weight loss and more importantly maintaining that weight loss. No more yo-yo diets. Just maintenance ranges and mindset change.
  • 1stdancekath
    Oh no not another diet
I approached this program with not a little skepticism. I like you have become weary and confused by the myriad of mixed messages sent by so called experts of diet and nutrition. I literally had lost hope that there was even one credible source out there not out for personal gain. Boy was I wrong. Heather offers a common sense no hype journey to SUSTAINED LIFE CHANGE. The bad news - there ARE NO QUICK FIXES for the years of ingrained misinformation that have led to our obesity. The GREAT NEWS - you can retrain your body and mind (no matter what your age or physical condition) to throw off old norms and develop new ones that work for you! Please if you are like me and have TRIED IT ALL don’t let this one pass you by. Especially if you struggle with binge eating and the constant feeling of self defeat that accompany it. I promise you will find that hope you’re seeking!

Evidence-based, commercial-free real weight loss coaching
I listen to 3 podcasts only: Half Size Me, We Only Look Thin, and Happier with Gretchen Rubin. Half Size Me usually gets the most airtime from me, though, because I just learn SO much from it. Heather is REAL about what it takes to lose in a healthy way and maintain it long-term. Nothing else has kept me more focused on improving my habits and making real, sustainable changes. Down 83 lbs, and I attribute so much of my knowledge to her!

I’m so thankful I found this!!!
I found this podcast in the fall of 2021. I can’t remember ever getting so much helpful information in one place…it really isn’t complicated. I now understand…enjoy the process!!! With Graditude
Dear Heather, I wanted to write to thank you for your generous offerings. I feel like I found you at the perfect time. I have been struggling with weight concerns for many years and recently realized that the largest change that I have made in my behavior patterns around eating came when I started following Dave Ramsey’s plan and eating out less. What got me through that process was connecting to my why, taking it day by day and his podcasts. We call him uncle Dave and now we refer to you as our bestie Heather. You both show a path to success, have belief that people can change, know the struggle from personal experience and are cheer leaders and educators. (I also think you are an amazing listener and ask very insightful questions). Thank you Sarah

Love the show but please don’t stray!
I LOVE this show and can honestly say she has assisted me in losing nearly 40 pounds! Today’s Ask Heather was a parenting question that was answered and that bummed me out. Please don’t go down that road and change. I love the podcasts but that Ask Heather made me go, “Hmmmm…”

    Best Podcast Ever
I have been at my goal weight through another program but this podcast has continued to help me with my journey in maintenance. It’s the only place I’ve found that discusses maintainability. Adding to my previous review, I have listened to some other weight loss podcasts and while some are good, I always come back to Heather’s gentle approach. I’ve maintained within my goal range for over 6 years, but I was missing a piece of the puzzle in the area of my mind. Heather has interviewed people that got me researching the issues of my “lower brain” and that has been key too. Thank you Heather!

So, I laugh when I hear Heather’s disclaimer.. about not being a professional. She absolutely is!! I am a cognitive behavioral therapist and she uses tools based in reliable research and proven facts to guide her audience. Her perspective and mindset is just right on point.
