Uncanny Valley

When anyone asks Audrey why she moved to Alaska, she tells them for a fresh start. But a lot of the people in Alaska are hiding from something. And Audrey is no different. When she journeyed to Alaska, she found something even more dangerous. Maybe we feel the uncanny valley because long ago, we had to fear something that pretended to be human.

    Absolutely Amazing!
Incredible Story telling; voices; setting, characters; I mean everything! Didn’t know what to expect definitely a vibe! Didn’t want it to end!! How yall wrapped it up in the last episode was impressive when the plots connected! Praying for season two or another banger! Well done yall!! Much love!

    Worth it
The original score and all sound design is next level extraordinary…Wow. Katharine Seaton’s contributions are genius and immaculate. The story unfolds nicely and the plot is sound. Unfortunately, I agree with some of the other reviewers regarding Izzy. Her delivery and sound is off putting and does nothing to enhance the storyline. The part of Izzy possessed a great opportunity to creatively usher the story along but the voice acting is regrettably not up to that task. In spite of this, it is still such an entertaining and layered tale. Sincerely hoping there will be a season 2!

    Shame about Izzy
Had to give up 4 episodes in, which is a shame because for the most part I was enjoying the story. As many others have noted, Izzy’s voice, dialogue, acting, EVERYTHING completely brought me out of the story. Her character is so annoying and childish, she sounds like a caricature. Did they cast her sight unseen or something??

    Worth a Listen!
Interesting story, decent voice acting, and phenomenal sound design. Seriously, the score and interludes alone are worth listening too. They really fit well and enhance the story. Very well done! The story is evocative and told in an interesting way that captures a listener’s attention right away.

Love love love everything about this. Please make more seasons!!

    Izzy…….
The PREMISE was good. Girl moves far away from her problems, encounters other problems, etc. where this podcast started to lose me was the complete lack of set up (slowly finding out Aubrey being a medium). The acting is ok’ish. Some characters are harder to listen to than others. Then there is Izzy, completely intolerable and sadly ever present. Couldn’t get past her and only made it halfway into the story because of her.

    More please
I loved this. Aubrey was really well written and performed. I know a lot of people complain about Izzy but it makes sense given her background. Now Cody... he was well done. I HATED HIM. I thought the plot was interesting too, but I did kind of get lost with the flashbacks. Saving the best for last--Dahlia. Love her

    I need more!
It was amazing hooked from the first episode! When do we get more!

    Izzy ruined it
I liked how this started, but I couldn’t even get through the second episode because of Izzy. Absolutely grating and distracting.

    I survived Izzy
I liked the story but Izzy is completely infuriating. She’s supposed to be seventeen not an immature ten.
  • Sherry_in_NH
    Really enjoyed it
This was a very well written, suspenseful story. Izzy was a little grating a first, but I got used to it. Would like to heard more from this creator!

Good story but god, that Izzy voice!
I’m trying to keep listening because I need a new creepy pod and I’m enjoying the atmosphere and storyline, but JFC - the Izzy character is so grating! And given that Izzy is apparently a voice in our main character’s head, we hear a LOT of it. It’s grating not just because of the actor’s nails-on-a-chalkboard voice but because of the writing. It’s a combo of Valley Girl and toddler. “Waaaaah! But I'm sooo bored!” “Vegas, baby! Vegas!” “Ewww, that creepy old man is hitting on you. Gah-ross!” and so on. And on. In a loud shrill baby-waby voice. Will I be able to stand it and enjoy the story? Right now it’s 50/50. What a shame.

    Very good podcast
I really enjoyed this podcast! They did a great job telling the story, dialogue was very good and they did a great job of putting you in the environment. Hopefully there’s a season 2 soon!

    Interesting
I liked the story and it made me interested in moving to Alaska for at least a year. Sounds peaceful.... Except for the forest. Izzy was hilarious and when she went away i was feeling a little bit of the hurt too. Love the idea of Aubrey being able to hear the dead and having a dead best friend. Can't wait to her the second season.
  • Platinumwolff
    Great if only for…
Would easily be a 5 star if it weren’t for how insufferable Izzy is throughout the entire story, besides that the story has a decent amount of depth and some likable characters. Would recommend with a warning

Just Couldn’t Take Any More Izzy
I got through the second episode and, while I was interested in the story and where it was going, I was not interested enough to be willing to hear another second of Izzy. The voice, the giggle, the stupid jokes…ugh. It was so annoying that it took me right out of the story each time she spoke.
  • ellegibbs
I want to listen to this
…so bad! I keep trying. But Izzy’s voice and behavior is extremely off putting and I can only get so far😭
  • Sterry3
    I tried
I really tried to listen to this podcast. Can’t make it past the 4th episode. The acting is absolutely horrendous.

    You will enjoy this podcast
Uncanny Valley is hands down one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. The story is brilliantly crafted, and the main character was so compelling that I found myself genuinely rooting for her and deeply invested in her journey. It reminded me of how people watch shows like *Friends* just to spend time with the characters — that’s how connected I felt. While I initially found Lizzy’s voice a bit off-putting (as mentioned in other reviews), by the middle of the podcast, I realized she was capturing the character’s essence perfectly. The music, sound effects, writing, and overall performances (most of the cast) were exceptional. I can easily see myself coming back to this podcast for another listen.

    Thrilling
Really intense struggle at the end! I truly felt fear and sorrow for anyone that has ever gone through this! Ending gave me goosebumps. Amazing story and characters!

    Izzy please stop talking
The show is great. I took off a star because Izzy is just a horrible character to listen to. Her story line is good…but the voice…it’s difficult to listen to. No 17 year old talks like that, even in the 2010’s. Really ridiculous.
  • Knb613
    Deserves 5 stars
Was on the edge of my seat during the second to last episode. Some of the bad reviews about some of the characters is only a testament to the amazing character development. Yes the stalker is so creepy… I was uncomfortable just listening to how crazy he was. And Izzy is just pure comic relief. Thanks for the story.

    Izzy 🤮
Enjoying it so far but omg the Izzy character is aweful to listen to. I’m going to try to push through despite her bc I’m really enjoying the story but it’s so hard.

Great story, there's just one thing....
I'm enjoying the show. It's fairly well written and mostly well acted and definitely better than most. The antagonist is super creepy. I'm still in the middle of it so I don't know who or what it is yet... That said, there are two characters that are so annoying I often fast-forward when they're talking. It's Doyle the protagonist's imaginary friend. I understand their value in the story, I just wish that she wasn't so manic and that he wasn't so whiney. I know that whining is an important character trait of his, but he goes on for such a long time that at some point it begins to sound like a baby crying, and I just can't handle it. And she's so annoyingly chipper that I have the same reaction. It seems like you could get the idea across that she's effervescent and optimistic and that he's a whining man-child without constantly clubbing us over the head with it.
  • forrrestfae
    mostly great
loved it overall, plus i am originally from dayton so you get bonus points for that hehe 🖤🖤 a lot going on, but not in a way that i mind. izzy was a hard listen though i am sorry to say😬

    Love it! Want another season!
Got hooked on the first episode and finished it in two days since I wanted to savor it. Very well written and a mysterious plot. Great character development that makes you feel for each character. Izzy is just the perfect comedy relief that is needed! Can’t wait for season 2!

This show is amazing. Absolutely in love with the character interaction and the mystery!

    Wow!
Tried this out…. Got hooked on the very first episode and finished it in one day. It is an amazing show with great characters and a story that makes you feel for them. Can’t wait for the second season.

    Agggh
I’m trying - hopefully I won’t miss anything important bc I have to skip pass Izzy’s talking parts 😩 her voice sounds so forced and aggressively cheesy
  • Fitmom916
    SO good
I binged the whole thing in one workday and was sad when there wasn’t anything new to listen to. Can’t wait for the next season
  • capaychica
    Almost great
The story is good and mostly well done. But what’s with Izzy? She sounds like an older woman trying to sound like a younger woman, but completely overacting and inappropriately cutesy through the entire series. It really brought down the quality of the show.

    Next season
Where is the next season ?

Fresh spin on a classic sci-fi trope
Really original spin and take on a classic sci-fi story. Well produced and acted. Great sound engineering. Can’t wait for season 2.
  • Begelll
    Super fun
Great podcast, really enjoyed all of it. Can’t wait for season 2. Good job 👍🏻
  • bagnew92
    Good start
The whole main plot turns into the sub plot. Drama where there should be more horror elements. All over the place. Annoying characters.
  • Amazement2024
Izzy’s voice grates … omg it’s so shrill
The story is interesting but Izzy needs to tone her voice down! So shrill! Finally listened to the last episodes. Says voice still grates. The end was a disappointment. Don’t make sense seemed disjointed from the mystery and suspense of the beginning.

    Exciting!!!
    I LOVED this series!
  • MusicSusanna
    Trying too hard
This whole podcast tried too hard. From all the different storyline, characters and over acting. Izzie the “friend” is annoying as sin and between the missing brother, the ability to speak to ghosts, then the monster and then the stalker. Way too many things happening. I’ve heard better acting on other podcasts.
  • gwenniek
    Wasn’t sure but
I was HOOKED after the first episode! I can’t wait for the next season!
  • Moiriss8
    Great story
At first it was a little confusing cause it was bouncing back and fourth. But I enjoyed every single chapter. I hope there’s another season.
  • beebekind
    None chilling and beautiful
Beautiful. Haunting. And so well done. I felt transported to that sleepy little town where a harsh alaska winter isn’t the only thing out to kill its inhabitants.
  • DustMePink
    LOVE IT!!!!!
I have only listened to the first two episodes so far and I’m so hooked!!!!! I been sending it to everyone I can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the episodes thank you for your hard work and amazing talent 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Ok quick update now that I have finished all of it listened to it in one day that’s how much I liked it. Izzy was my favorite I see a lot of other ppl not so much but I loved her. The stalker guy made me far to angry 😡 especially how he spoke to her. I liked how the story all pieced together I think you all did an amazing job and I can not wait for a second season hope it’s as good as season one and better 😁😁 Thank you for an (my opinion) amazing podcast definitely in my top five 5️⃣🥰🥰

    🧍 or 🐻
Season 1 beautifully tackles the infamous question “would you rather be alone with a man or a bear?” Except the bear is a monster. And STILL the safer choice.
  • joke3555
    It’s okay
Yes, Izzy’s voice is annoying, but Cody’s is much worse. And in the age of technology, social media and cell phones, why didn’t Audrey put cameras in and out of her home and then give her manager a pic of Cody so she would know who to keep away from. And then no backstory as to how/why Izzy is bound to Audrey and inside her? I just don’t get it.
  • Stratguy666
Great show, but the Izzy character is unbearable
The show is spooky, well written, and very well mixed. But Izzy is poorly acted and distracting. The jumps from great acting to this character are tough. A real shame.
  • Cjblues112
Good show, despite the need for a good male character
Good show, but it paints most guys in a poor light. The only male characters with more than a couple lines, were a stalker and abuser, OR just an abuser. Then you had the drunk that was good for a few lines, the Realtor who gets immediately murdered or the bartender with 2 lines that had nothing to do with the story. Good show otherwise, kind of intriguing
  • Boopbeep235
    Bummer
I was Iooking forward to this podcast but the character, Izzy, ruined it immediately. Her voice made my head and ears hurt. Skipping this one.
  • Aileenc83
    Binged it!
Definitely kept me interested, listed over 2 days while I was spring cleaning lol. I really liked the flashbacks each episode; they make you think and then realize “ohh that’s why this or that happened.” Yes, Izzy’s character is “annoying”, but I feel like that’s exactly how a 17 year old girl would act if they were stuck in the way Izzy is. If she was written differently, I don’t think it would make sense for that character to exist at all. Also, the way the creature spoke was super creepy. Loved it.
  • TheApexHippo
Why is part of the show missing?
I am so interested in this story but the episodes are shortened and missing key sections of the story??? I have purchased realm but yet it still isn’t giving me the full episodes? They randomly cut off and run ads mid sentence and then cut back to a completely different point in the story???
