SundayShoes328Good content (if they’d stop talking about anything else)On what they advertise, they deliver: an open-minded discussion of historical context and evidence as it pertains to certain widely-held or controversial Christian beliefs that people have come to question over the years. I really appreciate their differing perspectives, demonstrating that, in the end, if we don’t love each other and strive for harmony amongst ourselves, what have we gotten from Jesus’ message? That part’s all well and good… until they go off the rails and start talking about pop culture or personal anecdotes. They aren’t charming or funny, there’s tons of dead air, and the girl often repeats the same thing in 5 different ways. Needs some serious editing for this format. I would love to continue consuming this content, but I have to have my hand on the fast-forward button (not conducive to listening to a podcast while driving or working), so I’d rather turn it off.

SportsLadyinActionThankfulThis podcast opens up the Christian life and the Bible. I love they back up all the research !
-
bgawneInsightful and Informative!I absolutely love learning about the nuances of the Bible from the context in which books were written— and this podcast definitely delivers! I learned so much and enjoyed the hosts’ banter along the way!

SavyshopaholicMy new fav podcast!!I absolutely LOVE these conversations. They’re smart, funny, and compassionate. Sometimes direct with the thing needing to be said, said and other times it’s what’s left unsaid that invites more curiosity, exploration, and expansion. These are the conversations I long to have in my own living room and now it’s like they are! Especially when I share with friends and we dialogue about the episodes. Keep ‘em coming!! And Savannah, def appreciate all the work you do with the notes 😉

Yaherdme12the cody and noel of the deconstruction world.Josh and Savannah’s chemistry is unparalleled. Their theological depth, witt and humor makes this podcast SUCH a good listen. They remind me so much of Cody and Noel from the TMG podcast. Plus, they’re not bad to look at. These two are bound to blow up so get in on this now so you can call yourself and OG.

a super proud ravenclawLove love LOVE ……… did I mention how much I LOVE THIS PODCASTAs a gay man who has been through evangelical churches and has a deep love for history and language, this podcast hits every mark! Savannah's humor is excellent (she's also great at articulating how angry aspects of the church can make you), and Josh's optimism and kindness during his monologues make me feel hopeful. His constant education about the word helps you see a different side of Christianity. Their most recent episode was phenomenal. I listened to it on the airplane and was stoked to hear about both of their journeys through the church and the ins and outs of being an affirming preacher. I couldn't recommend them more. I enjoyed all of their episodes and will definitely be looking into the Patreon (highly recommend you should too!). Happy late birthday to both of you (now that Savannah remembers Josh's birthday, haha).

eholmbergI’m so disappointedThis is blasphemy. Sorry to all the Christian who were let down in the POOR representation. Instead of inviting “ queerologest “ or whatever on to this podcast, maybe we should invite some Bible experts.

MC!979The education and understanding we all needI am so grateful to have discovered Savannah and through her IG, this podcast and Josh! The education and perspective you both provide is top notch, full of honesty and humility and rooted in the philosophy that embraces the change of thoughts and beliefs. 5 stars definitely recommend!!!

carlucheeseAMAZINGThis entire podcast has been so incredibly informative and beneficial to starting a dialogue with people who may have many different beliefs. Cannot recommend enough. Savannah and Josh are highly intelligent—but above all, they are compassionate. Give it a listen, you wont regret it.

MadyyoUnbalanced.I absolutely love Savannah and the info she brings to the table. I wish she could have conversations with someone who brings a really high level of belief AND knowledge in Christianity/Christian history. I think that might be more interesting. I’m not too interested in the inorganic insertion of random jokes.

anteancient12THE BEST.Not only is the premise absolutely brilliant (a Christian and atheist…kinda) but it’s also theologically deep and wildly entertaining. Josh’s Christian perspective is SO refreshing and I love how he is able to dismantle Evangelical theology with truth and love. Also….is it just me, or does he look a lot like Chris Evans?!

SnoBunnEIlluminatingAs someone who has struggled with the concept of Christianity and Christians, this is so enlightening and makes me feel seen for all my questions and issues and concerns etc etc I’ve had since I was young. I’m learning so much, even just 3 episodes in and is honestly giving me compassion and clarity to have probing conversations with people who identify as Christians in my community (I’m in OK, so the belt buckle of the Bible Belt here) and feeling like even if I don’t agree, we can still communicate.

Sfamily407I’m disappointedI honestly really disappointed by this podcast. The premise was so interesting to me and I was hopeful to enjoy hearing both sides equally, but it ended up being Savannah just explaining that Christians are uniformed and ignorant. Most of her arguments have never been something that was even a part of my faith. I couldn’t even finish the first episode. I get that she is highly educated, but not once did I get the sense that she wanted to actually understand faith itself. Josh hardly got two words in. Not worth my time.

_wolf359May work for ex-Christians…everyone else stay awayI can see how this would be helpful as an ex-Christian (being one myself). They help expound and explore several topics from a purely Christian perspective. From other perspectives, they are woefully shortsighted, even despite their graduate education (it’s rather cute when Christians and ex-Christians attempt to explain Jewish scripture and Jewish concepts from a Christian perspective and true Christian hubris prevails). I followed Savannah on Instagram and appreciated her insights and professionalism there. But her severely millennial mannerisms and jokes make it difficult to take her seriously in this context. Josh’s jokes are simple terrible. If you’re ex-Christian or on the fence Christian, take a listen. Otherwise, stay away from this myopic podcast.

Speech4MeRefreshingI’m going through some reorganizing of my faith and this thought provoking podcast is exactly what I was looking for. I love how the hosts discuss their views with grace and respect for each other. I just finished the 3rd episode and eagerly waiting for the next. Please keep the great content coming!!
-
GrimmGreenStellar podcastI’m an ex-Christian… kinda, and this podcast is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Great banter, great conversations. I’m anxiously awaiting future episodes.
-
TBO-BroGreat perspectives, unacknowledged biasesI love both of the episodes so far, but I feel like you gloss over a lot of the historical contingencies of both Christianity and the US and jump to some conclusions. I would love to connect on discord with you both and discuss more in depth, can you link discord directly in some show notes or website??

Jmk0005Awesome!!I am loving the concept of this podcast. Thank you both for sitting down and doing this! The concept is not only awesome but I love that two people with two different beliefs can sit down and have a conversation (what a concept). Please keep it up!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Kberg68Great startAfter the first episode, when they are on topic which is most of the time, it’s a really interesting and informative discussion. When they get off on tangents it can get a little old. They also really need to work on volume levels. Over all level is way to low for earbuds at the gym. The individual levels are also way too varied, I shouldn’t have to adjust my volume multiple times. That being said I look forward to more episodes

marthalinebergeeMore episodes please!Grew up in the church, reading the Bible etc. This episode taught me more than a lifetime in the church. Thoughtful, informed conversations with comedy and room for uncertainty= yes please!!
