    Keeping It Aloha
I've been listen to the podcast for over two years. I typically listen while on my daily walk. I've been visiting Family and Friends in Hawaii for over 40 years. Every time I return home, I miss Hawaii, especially the Aloha. I am no child and know the harsh realities of the world, and this podcast helps keep me cemetery. This podcast has also helped me keep in touch with the People and spirit of Aloha. Over the years this podcast has made me angry, feeling at peace with things, missing Hawaii, nostalgic, sad and in tears, and with a warm heart. The host is an amazing young Man named Kamaka Dias. He is a story himself. He was raised on Hawaii Island, moved to Oahu at a young age, played high school football, attended University, is a Peace Corp Alum having worked in Madagascar. He speaks Hawaiian fluently, although he is not of Hawaiian blood, but because it was spoken in his home. He is very personable, well read, very intelligent, has a very humble demeanor. In essence he truly does "Keep It Aloha". I started listening by picking episodes in which I was familiar with the guest. When I exhausted that list, I chose episodes with interesting sounding topics and guests. When that list was exhausted I started listening to episodes sequentially regardless of the topic or guest. Frankly not every episode is of great interest to me, however I listen to the entire episode because I might learn something about Hawaiian history, cuisine, culture, growing up in Hawaii, or more about the human condition. This podcast provides a video or audio only version and can be accessed via Apple Podcast, Spotify, YouTube, and I'm guessing many other sources. New episodes drop usually every Thursday and most are 2 hours long. Check out the list but believe me the most recent episode with Dr. Randy Kosaki and Kimi Werner is very moving. Check out a few episodes. If you are like me, you might find more than a few episodes that are of interest. Other guests are in the queue so stay tuned. Wishing Kamaka, his team, and Ohana continued success. Aloha

Spread awareness of Human trafficking in Hawai’i
Aloha Kamaka… Big ask - Would it be possible to source out an individual who’s been sexually trafficked in Hawai’i and sharing their story and spread awareness of human trafficking in Hawai’i with your podcast? Mahalo

    Thank you
Thank you for your podcasts! I’m a big fan…I anxiously await each new edition on Thursdays. I especially like the length of the podcasts…it allows for us listeners to get an in-depth insight into your guests beyond their presenting fame or notoriety. I especially liked yesterday’s interview with Justin Kawika Young. I even checked out his film, ā€œMy Hero , the Hitman.ā€ Excellent. Mahalo! PS…I too was in the Peace Corps, and like you, it changed my life forever.

Goes deep and wide in Hawaiian and local culture
As a malihini here for only 25 years, I love how this podcast goes deep and wide in Hawaiian and local culture. My first listen was Keao NeSmith, whose translation work I have admired for many years. His mana’o about Ź»Ålelo HawaiŹ»i was amazing—and here I am second-guessing my use of ā€˜okina and kahakō lol. I loved what he said about haole and aloha and ā€œmana leoā€ and so much more. Other highlights have been Kamaka Pili, Kelly Hu, Sudden Rush and others from journalism, movies, sports, and music. The most fun so far was Frank Delima, Andy Bumatai and Angie T. I was laughing so hard I might have been a danger on the road—and I learned a lot about local comedy. Through it all is Kamaka with his nahenahe style taking us through the highs and lows of history, trauma, culture, hope and joy. Mahalo.

    My #1 Podcast in 2023
Kamaka, Mahalo for creating great content for Keep it Aloha. It was my number one podcast listened to this year and I’m not surprised! The guests on this show are great; I’ve learned so much and it has inspired me to venture out to deepen my connection with the Hawaiian culture and language. I’m from Maui, living on the mainland and listening to this podcast helps me get a little piece of home on my daily drives.

Mahalo nui for using this platform to educate and inspire me. I truly enjoy getting my Keep It Aloha fix every week, sometimes everyday! Any time I have free time, I go on to YouTube to check out a current or past episode. I play it in the car, while I wash dishes, and even on my TV while I work from home. Keep doing what you’re doing and always keep it aloha. Mahalo!!!

    From a kanaka named Kamaka
From one Kanaka named Kamaka to another; This podcast means the world to me. I’m native Hawaiian and Tongan but born and raised on the continent. For a long time I rejected my Polynesian heritage but in my later years have had so much healing in getting in touch with the culture and learning the languages. Thank you for having a show that allows me to listen to poly people so connected to their roots that it gives me a better chance to reconnect to mine. Listening to your show makes me proud to be Hawaiian. Also the PCC episode brought a tear to my eye when they talked about the good looking young men who came to build it because one of those good looking young men was my Tongan grandfather.

    Everyone needs KIA
Aloha! I’m born and raised on the mainland but my parents grew up on Oahu. My dad was military so we moved a lot but mostly lived in CA. Their experience in Hawaii translated to how they raised us. I’m mixed Filipino and haole, and the Hawaiian culture was a huge impact on my upbringing and how my husband (he was born on Oahu) and I raise our own keiki. I look forward to listening to your podcast bc I love to hear everyone talk story and have learned so much about other islands, more about the history and living pono. Keep it going, the world needs more aloha!šŸ¤™

    Makes One Think
I started listening to the podcast recently. I don’t necessarily agree with everything shared, but hearing differing perspectives in a thoughtful and caring manner breathes life into my na’au. Mahalo for making me think and helping me deepen my aloha for Hawaii and her people.

Always something new to learn about Hawaii
Whether you’re local, kanaka, or a newcomer to the islands, this is the podcast to help build a more nuanced and informed view of Hawaii. The informal discussions hosted by Kamaka on this podcast are full of insights into Hawaii’s many layers and a beautiful picture of how these individuals are respectfully approaching their roles as influencers of today’s culture in Hawaii and beyond.

    Keep it coming
Aloha Kamaka, The last two episodes #91 and #92, with Kuana Torres Kahele and Keao NeSmith were timeless. Appreciate the knowledge and experiences they shared. I could listen to them for many more hours, and I hope you can bring them back again. Just a thought… maybe a spinoff podcast bringing in native speakers / kupuna sharing their wisdom? I’d definitely listen. Thank you so much for bringing in these guests. By the way, hope that Madagascar podcast with you and Keao comes to life.

Awesome to see the podcast grow
I enjoy the content for sure and the people that come onto the podcast. However, Kamaka needs to stop reading from his laptop. You’ve grown a lot, but after almost 100 episodes it’s time to leave the script behind. You got this braddah šŸ¤™šŸ¾

    Keep it up!
I’ve always watched your podcast clips on instagram but haven’t jumped on the actual podcast till today. Gotta admit, I’ve gone through a slight rabbit hole of listening to episode after episode today and it’s awesome. I’m 33 now but growing up I’ve been brainwashed to think being Hawaiian is a shameful thing. Hearing testimony of others who’s been through the same and come out embracing their Hawaiian-ness in the end is helping give me the confidence I need to get more in touch with my roots. Keep up the good work. I know there are many others out there that lean on the ones like yourself to help pull us out of this hole of shame we’ve been taught to accept all our lives. An incredible resource!
I have just moved to Hawai’i from the mainland and want to learn as much about Hawai’ian culture as possible. This podcast is such an incredible fountain of information culturally and socially. Not only does this show give me a starting point for my research, but it also gives me members of the Hawai’ian/Polynesian culture to learn from. Mahalo for taking the time to share these stories and lessons from such a beautiful culture.

A must listen podcast for everyone
As a California boy who isn’t from the islands, the Polynesian culture is one that I deeply respect and strive to incorporate into my own life. I love the stewardship and respect that the people of the island nations hold for the land and the ocean, as well for the love that the people have for one another. The culture is absolutely life changing and every time I visit the islands, I always try and soak up the lessons that the people I met have taught me. This podcast is such a refreshing reminder of what’s really important in life and that change can come in the smallest forms. Mahalo Kamaka and crew for giving people a piece of your aloha!

I look forward to every episode of Kamaka’s podcast. Our family has relocated to the continent and Keep it Aloha helps to keep me connected to HawaiŹ»i. It’s hard not to finish listening to an episode without becoming a greater fan of the guest. Hoping that Jack Johnson will be on the show one day!!!

    Interesting and informative
Kamala’s show is essential for keeping up with the pulse of all things in contemporary Hawaii. His guests are always interesting (sports, entertainment, fashion), but my favorites are people like Daniel Anthony and others engaged with Hawaii’s deepest layers of history, culture and environment. This last episode was so powerful and thought provoking, and the extent to which he and his guests probe these deeper issues will help enlighten his listeners (esp younger audiences) to understand the true meaning of the show’s namesake.

    Great Hawaiian Podcast
Love how Kamaka brings on guests that are open to talking about controversial and important issues. Thoughtful, heartfelt, and always some levity. Great podcast! It also helped me thru the rough late nights as a new mom coping with ppd. The aloha Kamaka exudes is infectious and listening to this pod was a bright light in some of those rough times. :)

    Spread the aloha
I came across this Hawaii verse podcast randomly, but I am glad I did! First couple episodes that I listened too, I really enjoyed the conversations and the life stories from Native Hawaiians. I’ve lived in Oahu for a short period of time even though I’m not a local or native to hawai’i; I will always support/ love Hawai’i. ā¤ļø - Christina
