It’s Not All Rainbows: Surviving Abusive LGBTQIA+ Relationships

25

It's Not All Rainbows is a podcast hosted by Lindsay Goodman, a trauma recovery coach & survivor of narcissistic abuse in a queer relationship. Many licensed professionals have called narcissistic abuse "the most severe form of domestic violence" and yet, most survivors of this insidious abuse suffer behind closed doors. Most people, including mental health practitioners and first responders do not understand what this type of abuse can look like and how it can affect survivors. INAR will explore different aspects of narcissistic abuse, how to get out, and how to begin your healing journey. I appreciate all this content. Has helped me to step away and stay away from unhealthy friendships. Seeing things is clearly that had been blurry for many years. I can’t say thank you enough. I look forward to Wednesdays when I start my morning run I pull up my favorite podcasts to listen to. Yours is in my top 3! Thank you! Thank you!

    Eye-opening!
I discovered Lindsay from a tiktok called “what a birthday with an abusive partner can look like” and was hooked on all the content. I still deal with ptsd from a relationship with a narc 20 years ago! I even panicked when a doordash delivery person had his name and last initial. It stays with you, and through Lindsay’s content , I’ve finally put a name to many of his behaviors and manipulations. I’m lucky to be looking at it from many years in hindsight, but it’s never too late to understand it better. (many a-ha moments about how it STILL affects my marriage today) Thank you for all you do!

What I didn’t know I needed to hear.
I’ve been separated from my abuser and no contact for numerous years, but mentally I have nights where I’m right back in that relationship or craving the person who tortured me even when I was in a loving thriving, healthy relationship. I could not understand why I continued to want to make contact and be mentally and or physically hurt until I started listening to this podcast. It’s like the lightbulb moment a kid has in class when they learn something new, well that was me from one episode to the next.

    A journey I never knew I needed.
I watched my mother stay in a narcissistic, abusive relationship for years after she had left my abusive narcissistic father for the SECOND TIME. Yep. married, divorced and re married to divorce the same man! Why??! I never knew, until listening to, “it’s not all rainbows” I have listened and re-listened to every episode Lindsay has shared. The only content I had consumed about narcissistic relationships was, why the narcissist do what they do. Never in the eyes of those who had been abused. Understanding why my mother stayed and continued to seek out abusive men, has healed me in ways I didn’t know I needed. I highly recommend this podcast. Whether you, or a loved one has been in an abusive relationship(romantic or platonic)!

    Loving this content
I’ve really been enjoying Lindsay’s podcast. I like the short episodes, and I think she’s talking about very meaningful things. This is a great listen for anybody but especially queer people and survivors of domestic violence. Lindsay also makes amazing content on Instagram and TikTok. Huge fan
