    Love this podcast
I am not an art history major but appreciate both art and history. Amanda’s storytelling is so insightful and I appreciate her knowledge.

    Recently discovered this show!!!
I’m completely obsessed and enamored with the information! I love hearing a brilliant woman talking about art history, it reminds me of all my lovely art history professors who changed my life. Love the perspectives and topics.

    Great podcast
I’ve been listening to this podcast a lot lately, very informative, I love the biography style, as I’m always intrigued by how people navigated through the time they live in. She knows the stuff well, and just genuinely sounds pleasant.

Art History Degree Put to Good Use!
Love, Love, Love. Made me wish I had looked at the Primavera longer instead of being put off by the crowds. Was there to see Artemisia’s work on that trip anyways. Ooooo do Judith Slaying Holefernese (I know that isn’t spelt correctly, sorry).

    Great pacing…
This isn’t my normal podcast material but it’s really grown on me. A great break from my typical listening choices. Thanks Amanda!

A solid and thoughtful art history podcast
I love podcasts that have a vision. This one is always a feast for the ears and gives so much food for thought. The episodes are written beautifully and the insights provided about the featured artworks are always informative. Always looking forward to new episodes!

    Grant Wood?
I am soooo confused. WHY would you focus on Paul Revere but not make any mention of Grant Wood’s journey as an openly gay man in the early part of the 20th century. What’s up? Grant Wood’s biography is incredibly dynamic- but we instead listen to the story of the16 children of Paul Revere? No.

    Informative!
Sober. Very well written. A good voice with clear pronunciation. Entirely worthwhile.

What a Find-Smart, palatable and a beautiful journey
I listened to an interview Amanda did on a different podcast and found out about Art of History. And, I’m thrilled about it! I’ve started with the first one and can’t stop listening. It is now my topic of choice during Watercooler chats at work. “So, I’ve started this new podcast called Art of History and todays episode was about….” 🤓 (Look, if I’ve got to listen to fantasy football leagues, they can listen to me gush a bit about historical significance of neoclassical art subjects-insert: Death of Marat episode here) I am am a novice in the art and history world and know next to nothing other than I enjoy looking at art and hearing good stories. Amanda does a fantastic job detailing the art piece before jumping into the history. I like to pull up the photo of the art before I play the podcast to get my own perspective. Then I listen to Amanda and feel like I’m on a personal tour. Once we’ve explored the painting, her story telling ability takes you on a digestible historical journey. I just listened to the Joan of Arc podcast and feel so inspired! Inspired to be like Joan, inspired to learn more, inspired to speak up, inspired to trust my instincts. Just so inspired. I’m so happy to have heard Amanda on the “straight up with Stassi” podcast.

    The Art of Great Podcasting
In a world of endless art/history podcasts, this one soars above the rest. Amanda has the ability to transport you back to the time you’re learning about and leaves you feeling more connected to both art and history. She has the voice of a born podcaster and I’m always excited when a new episode drops. Re-sparked my extreme love of art that had been buried due to the craziness of life. Highly recommend.

    LOVE!!
I LOVE this podcast! 10/10 would (& have) recommend to every stranger I meet! I go through podcasts so quickly because I feel like they get a little stale after awhile but this one is always soo interesting! I took one art history class in school and low key hated it but Amanda hooks me in a keeps me listening. I love learning about the history and context behind each piece of art then going in-depth on the piece and how it was made. Honestly, I wish I could take Amanda with me to my next museum visit!

Excellent - perfect for those who are new to art history
Love this podcast! Long time follower of Amanda on TikTok, & decided to give this pod a try. Fans from TT will definitely see how her art history education has enriched her podcast & made it so popular. I’ve always been a student of history, & while someone who enjoys art, I’ve never dug deep into most works outside my favorites. I didn’t know much about art history, or what an art history degree is before now. Now I am so sad I missed out on taking an art history class at university. Amanda really brings these works to life. I enjoy the deep, but concise background she gives on the subjects & times of each work. I love her personal thoughts on each work & find them so enriching. I leave each episode feeling as if I’ve just had the best tea, & deep chat with a dear friend. Thank you, Amanda.

This podcast is one of a kind! Enjoyed more than I expected. I love that I’m not being hustled to buy something that I just get to enjoy listening. Love the art bites.

    Great art history source
Amanda is very easy to listen to and follow. She approaches one topic at a time and provides visuals, which help me understand and learn more about what she is discussing.
  • Can’t Get Enough Art
    The Best Podcast!
I love this series of podcasts. They are just long enough to keep my interest and are professionally presented. Amanda introduces herself saying she has an art history degree that she doesn’t use. Yes she does use it! Every podcast is well-researched. Thank you Amanda from an art lover who didn’t have the opportunity to get an art history degree formally.

    Mindfulness
This is the most professional yet intriguing podcast I have heard such far. Amanda has a beautiful voice and personality. She isn’t afraid to state her own OPINION and that it is just that, an opinion. People are allowed to have different opinions and Amanda doesn’t shy away from that. She will give you ALL the facts and then share how she feels. Which is what makes this podcast so interesting and addictive to those willing to learn something. It’s like being in a group discussion with the information presented, her opinion and then yours. Bravo Amanda! Keep them coming

    Thank you!
I didn’t know that I enjoyed art history before this podcast.

    Delightful!!!
Several binged episodes into this podcast, I’m enchanted! Wonderful stories, wonderfully told - and all through the lenses, canvasses, and eyes of art! A long-time fan of history podcasts, I’m thrilled to have discovered this fresh and edifying perspective… and to find it so well done. Thank you! One suggestion: Consider an occasional plug for WikiArt? I’m finding my WikiArt app to be the perfect companion for this podcast, especially as it facilitates the further browsing of an artist, genre, or period.

    Interesting
The content of the podcast is a clear 5 stars. I enjoy the deep dives into an artwork. The podcaster does an excellent job mixing the history of the image and the painter’s impact on the art world. I am listening from the oldest podcast and working my way to the present. I just listened to The Swing, which was great. Areas for improvement include the audio quality (need a better microphone or something), though that may have already been addressed in more recent podcast. Thank you! Angi, Connecticut, USA

    Love this podcast
I really love listening to this podcast. Amanda does a wonderful job introducing you to a painting—and not only the painting, but the subject of the painting and the artist. I’ve learned so much. And it is so much easier to appreciate a painting when you understand the background, as well as the symbolism that is totally obscure to us today. Highly recommended.

    Wonderful
Truly a wonderful and fantastic podcast on art history! I can't get enough. That's my only complaint -wish the podasys came out more frequently!

    Different from other art podcasts
I’m both an art and a history enthusiast, and this podcast is a great combination of both! I really like the unique approach of bringing history to life by exploring different pieces of art. While many other “art history” podcasts focus mainly on various art movements and styles of art, this podcast is a deeper dive into the history and interesting people surrounding the art. The narrator really does her research and I learn of many details in each episode that I hadn’t heard of anywhere else. Looking forward to many more to come!

    Political Ad
Really disappointed to start an episode and get bombarded with a political ad. I don’t know if Amanda, the host, has knowledge of it, so I will give the benefit of the doubt and assume someone on her team could have dropped the ball. Nevertheless, I can’t subscribe to a show taking payouts from Greg Abbott. Having a personal opinion is one thing, but shilling for a politician by lending your platform is another.

    Delivery
The information is very interesting but the delivery is not professional. She’s obviously reading and does an uncomfortable upspeak, singsong.
  • Don'tDownLoad23
    Moronic
I was very interested until the moronic comment during the Marat episode. She points out that the wealth gap today is greater than the wealth gap during the French Revolution while completely ignoring the fact that the poorest today in this country (US) enjoy a better standard of living and eat more calories than most 18th century French nobles while enjoyed all the rights for which the French were fighting. While intriguing at first if the material dialectic is her historic methodology I think I’ll pass and recommend others to do the same.

    Best Art History “fix”
As a non-practicing Art History major, this podcast is the best art history fix! I love it so much that I’ve listened to episodes more than once-they’re that good!
  • SarahAnneAZ
    Love this!
I listen to a lot of history podcasts, but I love this creative approach! Found Amanda on Tik Tok and was so excited to see she had a podcast. Keep it up, please!

    Love it!
I was a STEM major in college and wasn’t able to fit in as many history classes as I would’ve liked. Amanda’s storytelling & presentation keeps my ADHD, science-nerd brain interested and engaged throughout the episode. I appreciate that she’s able to so vividly portray not just the political history but cultural & social history as well.

    Just what I need
Great job! I am really enjoying your show. This is just what I need to learn a bit more about art. Thank you for doing this show.

    Great!
Enjoy listening to your podcast Amanda! Your knowledge and description of the art pieces help someone like me who enjoys looking at Art, but nothing else! I have learned so much! Your voice and delivery is not monotone, makes it easy to be excited about seeing exactly what pieces you are speaking of!! Thank you!

    My Go-To
This has become my favourite podcast! She does a phenomenal job in all aspects. I love looking at art, but now I feel like I’m being handed the opportunity to truly appreciate and really LOOK at art! Thank you for not just telling us about the piece, but the artist, the context, and your personal thoughts! I look forward to listening to all of your future episodes!

    FAVORITE PODCAST
I absolutely love this podcast, and this is coming from someone who historically does not enjoy art. For context, I had to be dragged to the Lourve in Paris and did not appreciate it at all, but I think I would have if there was a podcast like this about all the art. I absolutely love the way that the historical context is laid out, the art is analyzed, and the stories chosen each episode are all so interesting. By the end of the episode I feel like I have truly lived through that time period and I know all the people involved personally. I really hope there are more episodes coming soon!

    Delightful bite sized episodes!
Found this podcast from her work on the royals on Tiktok. Well researched, great style and flow and each episode is self contained and around 30 minutes long. Thanks for a great podcast!!
  • sankovitch
    I love it!
This is a wonderful podcast! I love how an artwork is chosen each time and then Amanda discusses not only the historical setting, but also the artistic elements of the artwork. This is a must-follow podcast!

    A little gem indeed
This is the podcast about history of art I was waiting for ! It’s really well done, very engaging, not too simple, not too complex and sometimes give you thoughts/ links to go further. I’m looking forward to discover your future episodes Amanda !

    Delightful!
What a gem! I found the delivery, flow, content, and presenter of this podcast to be delightful. There is enough historical context to give a truer understanding of the art without bogging down the flow with too much information. The tone is lively and interested. The length of the podcast is perfect for me. Thank you for taking your time and energy to create this podcast, I really appreciate it! ❤️
  • tacoloco576
    Engaging and intriguing!
As a history teacher who also loves art, this podcast is right up my alley! The creator is clear and tells history as a story that has you holding on to each detail! This podcast makes my commute fly by!

    My favorite!
I had been looking for a history podcast to listen to, and I was beyond ecstatic to find out one of my favorite TikTok creators has a podcast as well! I am only two episodes in and I’m hooked. Amanda, you are amazing at what you do! I have learned so much from you about my favorite special interest of the history of royalty, and I’m so glad that I can now get information from you on more than just a 30 second limited TikTok!

    Refreshing
What a relief to hear substance rather than unqualified opinions that bombard us every day. Thank you for great research.

    Awesome creator
I discovered this creator on TikTok in the early pandemic days, and find her work incredibly good. My undergrad is in history and she clearly has a strong command in presenting the context of subjects without bias, yet does include a fresh perspective on how we can better understand past events. Amanda - if you’re reading this review, thank you so much for all of the work you put into your presentations.

    Interesting!
So glad I found this! I follow you on TikTok and love your content! I’ve only listened to the first episode but will catch up quickly.

    Great content!
This is an awesome and very informative podcast! I love learning about art history and she does a great job of describing the artwork and it’s meanings . A podcast initially seems an odd choice for the medium but it is done very well and is fun to listen to! Give it a shot

My Art History degree is here for it!
Followed here from Tiktok, love your content there by the way, and was not disappointed. I have always wondered how one would/could do a podcast about art in a way that wasn’t just blah and you have hit the nail on it’s head by making the show about both the art and the history together. My unused Art History degree is here for it! Thanks for all your hard work and your matter of fact way of delivering interesting subject matter.
