  • As informative as it is fun!
    Essential auction draft content
Not only is Drew putting out the only auction-specific content in the fantasy space, but he’s gotten sharper and better at sharing his knowledge with each passing season of the show. I cannot recommend the show highly enough. The content is so good that I’ve actually shared the recommendation with a few league-mates (I know, blasphemy sharing such an edge). I’m just that enthusiastic about discussing auction and fantasy content with them because of Drew.

    Best Auction Podcast
I’ve been listening to this show for a couple years and I have yet to find a more thorough and informative source for auction drafting information and strategy. Drew goes in depth on multiple topics related to auction drafting and his guest discussions have only gotten better. Well worth your time!

    Great podcast!
I discovered Drew’s podcast this summer and it’s been a great listen! Each episode has fun and thought provoking advice and conversations. Amazing podcast for the underserved auction community, especially those who like the strangely behind auction drafting.

I have the utmost respect for Drew and the personality he brings to the auction and legal realm of fantasy football. Do NOT hesitate to give it a listen!

Fantasy Football Deep Dives and Fine Fellowship
Four seasons and going strong! Drew Davenport continues taking you on his journey to filling the world with cold-blooded fantasy football terminators. Looking for concise hyper-focused takes and news? .. well better look somewhere else. Drew delivers a more intimate deep dive into game theory. Mr. Uncrustable himself suits up to break through the stale outer layers that always get picked at and he delves into the gooey center of the game we all love. He takes you under his wing with the soul purpose of sharing his thoughts about how to excel at fantasy football all the while managing to take solo discussions and make them feel like conversations. He sprinkles in some of his own takes on the season and tops it all off with a topical interview with some of the biggest names in fantasy football. All in all for fantasy football fans it is an enjoyable hour (or two) to spend each week with like-minded friends that share an obsession.

    Boner bashing
Not sure where the title came from… maybe Paula 🤔 Honestly, busy 9-5 guy here and in a 8 year 12-team OG league switching things up to keep it interesting and going Auction this season. The algo Gods of ChatGPT recommended Drew’s podcast, but turns out half the dudes in my league are also listening and for good reason.. he’s the best. Original and informative. Thanks for getting me and my league mates up to par with auction drafts! If your new to auction drafting, interested in fine tuning your auction strategy, or just want to listen to a highly entertaining podcast then look no further. 👍👍 (This was written by a human and not AI…well except for the title)

    Great fantasy football advice!
The only fantasy football podcast I tune into. Drew’s awesome! Informative FF legal updates on players. Advice on using a par sheet with auction drafting. Great lineup of guests. Of course I enjoy a Ranch Guy visit.

The Podcast That Got Me Into Auction Drafting
3 years ago I was trying to learn more about auction drafting and see if it was something I wanted to implement in the home league I am commissioner of. I thought podcasts would be a great place to learn but it turns out there are not a lot of quality shows geared towards the strategy of auction style fantasy football. I found Drew and the Auction Brief and have never looked back. Drew’s way of story telling keeps the show light and fun when it could easily get bogged down in theory and spreadsheet talk. From nomination strategies to par sheets to engaging guests this show has it all. I have learned a ton from the Auction Brief and my home league went to auction style draft 3 years ago when I found the podcast and we love it. We now do our draft live and in person and I would not be as prepared if it wasn’t for the Auction Brief!

    Fantasy Gold
No one talks about auction drafts like Drew. Since finding this podcast, I have been able to go back to a typical snake draft, but if you do not do auction drafting between Drew and his guests fantasy information is a goldmine to win you leagues!!!

    THE Source for Auction Content
It’s not easy to find good auction content for fantasy football. On top of that, most of what you do see is simply snake draft content dressed up to look/sound like auction content. With this podcast, Drew has really separated himself as THE source for auction drafters. He’s not just spitting out buys and sells either. He’s getting DEEP into the strategy of it. What should you be doing? How should you be doing it? What does preparation look like? I promise you can’t get this anywhere else in the auction content space. I’ve certainly looked! Also, Drew manages to keep it fun and light. The shows aren’t short, but they never feel long. It’s the first thing I look for on Thursday morning (and they’re always posted early). Drew also makes himself super accessible to his listeners. I’ve communicated with him personally, and he clearly wants to help, which is so rare. All that’s to say.. if you are looking for great auction content.. you found it! Thanks, Drew.

    The Auction Draft Expert
Auction drafting is the only way to play fantasy football, and Drew is *the* expert on auction drafts. I listen to every episode, and add all of his key points to my fantasy notebook. How has that worked out? I went 13-1 in my auction league last year (unfortunately fell short in the playoffs). On top of his auction advice, he also gives expert advice on players’ legal outlooks (like Rashee Rice right now), has great guests, and has a very entertaining presentation.

    Unique and valuable
I was searching for auction tools in the offseason and stumbled upon this hidden gem. Drawing from his legal and poker background, Drew brings a unique and valuable perspective to the table. Helped take my auction game from a pathetic 2 to a confident 10.

Truly unique content that caters to a growing population that is woefully underserved
Drew does a fantastic job of really focusing on auction strategy. He talks some about players he likes, which is nice, but I could drown myself in player ranking content found elsewhere. Not enough people talk strategy in general and that is especially true with auctions. Drew has tremendous insights on the subject and I really have learned a lot listening to this pod. Many of his pillars are things I picked up subconsciously over a decade+ of doing auctions, but he puts them to words beautifully and helps me better understand what I do well and where I can improve. I feel like my auctions have gone noticeably better since I found the auction brief. I particularly enjoy the parallels he draws to no limit hold em poker. As someone that used to be an avid poker player, the analogies really cement the concepts he discusses. And really, auction ff is a format that is growing in popularity (though not fast enough in my opinion). I have yet to meet anyone that has dove into auction drafting and decided snake was better and went back. It is just a vastly superior format. And there are a lot of good fantasy podcasts out there, but they all focus on snake drafts. My eyes totally glaze over and I tune out when I hear the term ADP. Luckily, with the auction brief, that is never an issue.

    Home league auction success
Was finally able to convince my home league to switch over to auction and everyone loved it. Was able to get 9/12 of the league in person, hoping for 12/12 for offline auction next year! Best auction content (and poker stories) out there!

A Podcast I was lucky to find
I had snake drafted for years with the same group and won the league a few times until one day they decided to turn it an auction league. I think this was stemmed on a couple of the guys being in finance or business and the switch would bring an advantage for them. That may have been true only if they had this podcast along with their background. I have since used this as my secret weapon going into draft season and have been successful. Can’t imagine going into an auction draft without a Par cheat( which I didn’t know existed before I listened) thank you Drew!

    A Unique Approach
If you’re like me and want to dive deeper into auction draft strategy - not just listen to another show about rankings - this podcast is for you. Every year, I pour over the auction draft episodes popular fantasy football podcasts release (1 per year, typically, hitting on the same high-level points), but I was searching for more detail. The Auction Brief delivers just that. What I like most about this podcast isn’t that we get Drew’s player takes, though there is some of that. I like that he spends a great deal of time talking about approach, thought process, and strategy. Every auction draft is different - even with the same managers - and learning to think is probably more important than how you feel about any given player. Pressure and precision - the sit down bonus (it’s a real thing, I’ve been testing it in mocks) - nomination strategies - inflection points … valuable concepts that I’ve pulled from listening. This podcast will remain in my regular rotation.

    The Auction King!!!
Drew is just like Abe Froman the Sausage King of Chicago, if only he was into making sausage and lived in Chicago. Otherwise he is Drew Davenport the Auction Draft King of the World! Pouring out great auction info, the Patreon and pods are just fabulous. Coming from someone who’s been running an auction league for 15 years, it’s refreshing to FINALLY get some solid content bedsides just a few mock drafts and a few articles. Thank you 🙏 You are doing the Lord’s work sir.

Drew is the best at Auction Content
There’s so much fantasy football content out there but so few sources dedicated to the best way to play fantasy football (auction/salary cap!) Drew is so thorough in breaking down the ins and outs of auctions and brings a unique perspective on fantasy football as well as various legal issues throughout the NFL. If you’re into auction drafting, you absolutely have to check how his manifesto every year.

The reason why podcasts were invented
To some, this may sound absurd—perhaps even as outlandish as suggesting that fantasy football holds the secret to world peace. But for those who actually listen to the show, it's nothing less than the pinnacle of rational thought. Drew will whisk you away to fantastical realms, not only of fantasy football but also of life itself, that you never knew existed. Absorb his wisdom, and success will follow—or at least, that's the plan.

    Drew Knows Auctions!!
I’ve never felt so prepared for my upcoming auction drafts. Drew breaks everything down to the most minute detail. Auction based content is so scarce in this industry, so when I found this podcast I was ecstatic!! I first heard about Drew through SXM FFMornings and the rest is history!

    Auction League Proficiency 301
By the time you are done with a season of this podcast, you will be a proud graduate of what I like to call Auction League Proficiency 301. Drew not only teaches you basic fundamentals needed to thrive in auction leagues like par sheets, but he also goes in depth on advanced strategies like how to utilize nominations to your advantage, identifying critical turning or defining points in the draft, the psychology behind auction bidding and so many more topics. He also builds on what he learns year to year, so this is a course you can come back to every season. And if that wasn't enough, he brings in other creators from the fantasy football community to gain insight from them on various topics weekly. This podcast is one of the greatest underrated advantages you can have, and all it will cost you is the time it takes to listen. He will be the first to tell you he can be a bit long winded, so feel free to turn the dial up to 1.5x speed or whatever pace works for you if you're short on time. If you want to learn about auctions, improve your auction game, or simply cover up any holes in your current approach, this will be well worth your time.

    Fantastic Fantasy Facts
I am in my second year of the auction fantasy world. The Auction Brief and Drew has been by far the most informative and helpful source of fantasy auction information. He takes a down to earth, process driven approach, that combines prep and real time analysis to yield great results. A must follow!

The Gold Standard for Auction Info
Listening to the Auction Brief with Drew feels like attending a legal negotiation masterclass, but with more laughs and fewer objections. Drew breaks down strategies with the precision of a seasoned attorney dissecting a contract. He understands that the drama of your draft rivals that of a high-stakes courtroom battle and prepares you for the fight. A “stereotypical” fantasy podcast just discuss player and rankings. My favorite thing about Drew is his emphasis on strategy and planning. This is how you win leagues! The Auction Brief is my go to podcast for my 2 auction leagues.

    Best Fantasy Auction Advice
I came across Drew this past Saturday on YouTube. He was features in the Fantasy Points. I immediately subbed and have listened to all of his 2024 podcasts since Monday. I have learned more about auction drafting in the last 4 days than I have in the last decade!!! Great listen and he sure knows how to keep you tuned in. A lot of guys know their stuff, it’s a rare few who can also break it down and keep you wanting more!!! If you’re not subbed, you are missing out!!!

    Much Needed
Been following Drew for awhile now. He’s an Auction Draft degenerate and unfortunately, we do not have enough of those guys around. His knowledge and advice is always on point. His desire to get people into Auction Drafts is a game changer. On top of that, the legal breakdowns of players potential charges and suspension outcomes is incredibly important and useful.

    Cliff notes
Good info, but too much rambling. No one care about the poker or life advice. Voices are dumb. They detract from what is otherwise good information. If it was only the fantasy auction info, I’d give 5 stars.
  • Braehole
Passion he’s all about passion with your auction draft
He can get a little long-winded, but that’s because he’s so passionate about teaching you how to do auction drafts. You just have to go back through these past episodes and you can get a full view of everything that you need to do in auction drafts. everything you need to be a good auctioneer is in these episodes through them and watch all of them and then you will be a pro also.
  • hopefullynotthisone
Takes too long to talk about fantasy
The only real auction content I’ve found and I’m glad to have it. The only dislike is having to wait or skip through the first 15 - 20 minutes of non fantasy talk the host tends to do. 5 minutes would be okay but I listened to an episode today where he meandered on about anything but concrete fantasy talk/advice for 23 minutes.
  • JOHNJ0HNJOHN
    Great Info!
The Auction Brief is very insightful and brings up concepts that I’ve never even thought about in my experiences in auction Drafts. Drew clearly knows what he’s talking about. Please make a video covering Superflex auctions. I have my draft in a couple weeks and am not sure how to approach it.

    Unique analysis
Drew is a unique way to communicate with the fantasy public! I started this podcast from when you started because of the legal analysis which help me deciding what I want to do for my exposures with some intrigue in auction leagues. I have now played in a few salary cap leagues and stay for the poker banter. Great listen even though episodes are so long. Good thing I listen to most podcast at 2x.

    Auction (kinda) brief
Honestly, Drew sheds light on the aspects of drafting that no one speaks about. It’s more than just adp strategy. It’s easily one of my own personal favorites. Keep up the great work n dad jokes!

A must listen for auction drafters
I’ve been following Drew for several years and I’ve become such a better auction drafter because of him. His strategy insight is second to none - he will challenge the way you think about the way you nominate players, bid, and budget.

The Auction Brief is an Awesome Podcast
This is my second year of being introduced to doing an auction draft and also listening to your podcast. The first episode I listened to was when David Dodds was the guest. I’m only 14 yrs old , so at first I had no idea about strategies and how to dominate an auction. I appreciate how you spend time on your show talking about the basic concepts of an auction because they are the fundamentals for have a great draft. The most impactful thing for me was you talking about the budget portion of an auction. It goes a long way, and now I know what a Par-sheet is and hopefully will help me drop the hammer at the end of my auctions. I just recently watched Office Space and I thought the impression of Milton was great and enjoy your sense of humor. One of the highlights of my day is listening to your show on my morning runs. Just wanted to leave a review and show my appreciation for podcast , thanks Drew!

    Invaluable Resource
The Auction Brief is an invaluable resource for anyone in a salary cap/auction league. No other podcast covers auction strategy in anything but a perfunctory way. With The Auction Brief, Drew dives deep into the nitty-gritty of the auction process, giving the listener a massive advantage over their league mates. The in-depth discussion of nomination strategy, par sheets, utilizing the hammer, etc makes this a can’t miss podcast for anyone preparing for an auction draft. Unless you’re in my league! In that case, this is the worst podcast and will not help you one bit. For everyone else, this one gets the strongest recommendation.

    Auction Success Begins With Drew
Drew is the man! Everything you need to know about auction drafting is here. The process is such a mystery because every auction draft is different but Drew helps give you the knowledge to prepare for an auction and to be successful in one (par sheets FTW). Give Drew a listen and you might even improve at poker too.
  • Thorndj
Long but great and your friends don’t listen which gives you the advantage
Drew does a great job covering all things fantasy sports! It’s definitely up there with the quality of some of the well known names even if he isn’t well known which gives you a leg up on your friends if you listen and they don’t. Lending his legal mind sets him apart from others so you won’t hear another show like it. Even though he focuses on auction, most tips are transferable to the more common snake draft. While I wish the episodes were a bit shorter because I typically don’t have time for 2 hour podcasts in a week, I can still listen to some or parts and usually get something out of it. Love the poker stories and crossties too. My advice (other than being shorter) is to call out how a tip in auction can be used in snake drafts too. Thanks for what you do Drew!

    Great for Auction tips
This podcast has been great for tips for doing auction drafts. It has helped me last year and I know it will help me this year. Great reminders, glad Drew says things that might be a simple thing but that needs to be addressed, as well as things I have not thought about before. Great podcast.

The best auction fantasy football podcast out there
What a great show! I have followed Drew for many years at Footballguys and his podcast is just top notch! Lots of great fantasy football auction advice- from budgeting, how to read the room, inflection points, nomination strategists and much more. The only podcast I will make sure and listen to within 24 hours of being posted. If you are an auction player this is a must listen!! I have played on auction leagues for over a decade, I feel I have improved my game immensely with Drew’s advice. Throw in some poker talk and humor, this is my favorite podcast. Drew deserves his flowers. And maybe some extra ranch.
  • ack50
Finally a salary cap focused pod
Quirky? Yes! Lot of poker talk? Check! But this is great salary cap focused content. If you’re tired of hearing about boring snake drafts, then you’ll love Drew’s takes on the higher evolution of fantasy football drafting. Auction drafts are the best and Drew breaks it down beautifully and brings in some great guests as well.

Great Resource for Auction / Salary Cap Fantasy Football
My main league has been a salary cap for the past 5 years. I’ve been looking for a podcast to help with this for the entire time. So many podcasts try half-heartedly to tackle strategy by either doing a mock and talking through it as it’s happening or by simply saying “every auction is different so it’s hard to give solid advice” Drew’s podcast trumps anything I’ve otherwise come across. So much theory with examples from fantasy football and poker. It has helped me immensely as I prepare each year. For example, one item he brought up this summer was the value of leaving big name players on the board as a way to keep people from spending their money as they WAIT to try to grab that star when he’s nominated. I’ve looked back at last years draft and see examples of this from my league and am looking forward to implementing this this season. One topic suggestion for you Drew: how / what should you look for when reflecting on past drafts? I have years of data as the Commissioner / obsessed fantasy manager. How do you look through your old draft leagues to search for trends as far as values, nomination tendencies, league mate tendencies, etc. This pod is awesome! Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you Drew!
