Lovelys mommaWe needed thisI’ve delved into a plethora of podcast centered around missing Black girls, but none have resonated with me quite like Black girl gone . What sets this podcast apart is the absence of personal opinions on the victims, no unnecessary gossip, and thorough research into each case . This podcast is not just important, it’s essential on shedding light on the fact that the disappearance and murder of Black women and children is a matter of public safety. Amara is doing a fantastic job, and I’m grateful for her efforts .

anjiegrhmJust the factsI appreciate that you separate your thoughts from the facts of the case. When you tell the stories of these women and girls you give the facts as they can be found or have been released. Then you and your husband do the recap where you insert your opinions and thoughts. I really appreciate that. I also REALLY appreciate that your focus is on people of color. Often our stories are overlooked because well …… America. Most of these stories I’m learning about here on your show. You’re doing an amazing service please keep up the good work.

Marilyn558Very importantFinally someone exposing the women of color that are over looked, when the white, blonde, blue eyed, rich women stay in the spotlight for years. Great work!

Gaston 252True Crime/PodcastJust seen Amara on Tamron Hall! Awareness that been need!

maribonnHighly RecommendedAmara is such a great story teller. With each episode you can tell she has spent time researching is very intentional about the story she crafts. Her voice is soothing, even while telling often horrific stories. She is very thoughtful and tactful in her delivery, every time. Currently binge listening.

nickname_9001Really want to likeI want to like and support this podcast because of its cause, but the research is subpar. For example, in the Bernita White episode, the host states that she was shot from more than 100 feet away when it was 100 yards away… she also missed other details in the case. Please try to improve your research as this podcast has potential.

pinkisloveGreat Crime Podcast!I am a true crime junkie … I love her podcasts and cases she covers! I am always intrigued when I find cases on some of the ID channel shows. And I know if I ever go missing or something happens I would want my story to be told by Amara!

Ahsongbird127A heart that hurts, has hope for our black girls goneHello Amara, I am a fan of true crime mostly to see the justice system process, hear from families, and see justice. However, I was unaware of your podcast until a few weeks ago and it is absolutely amazing to hear your heart, passion, and research presents in such a way that I pray every one of our back sisters, daughters, mothers, friends cases are solved. That care, divinity and respect is given to search, investigate, and bring justice to our “cousins” they same way national attention is brought to others. We are one; we are humans, and every person who looks like me, my sisters, children, deserve to have the same level of justice. Thank you for keeping the name, life, and story alive.

Trice2019Thank youOmg! I really enjoy listening to this podcast. I really appreciate you on covering these stories on black women. Some stories I’ve heard of and others I haven’t. I really really appreciate you!!
-
Patty Podcast10/10FANTASTIC SHOW!! Extremely well done.
-
BossBellaXVery interesting & informativeGreat podcast!!! Very interesting & informative. Cases that need to have exposure & attention are given both. Although very sad & heartbreaking, the way these true stories are told brings clarity & much needed attention to the cases spoken about. Keep up the amazing work you are doing. If it was not for you, I would not have known about half of these true stories. Thank you.

MCD525So many ads but wonderful storytelling.Exactly what the title says. The stories are great, and I actually appreciate them being a bit shorter now (according to other reviews) because it’s easy to get through a story and devote attention to it without having to pick back up at a later date, etc. I love your voice & I love the way you get right to the point and share what happened to this beautiful women. My only quibble are the ads. I’m not lowering my stars because I really understand getting your bag and I respect that you must make money to keep up this great work, but it is quite tedious to have a 3:00+ break in the middle of the story as WELL as at the beginning of the show. But this is life, and I get to enjoy this for free because of it, so it is what it is! Thanks for this podcast!

SabrinaaaaaaaaaaaaasLove the podcast miss afterthoughtsI have been listening to this podcast for about 6 months and I have heard them all. My favorite part was the afterthoughts because it allowed for a level of discussion after the information dump of the case. I hope it comes back but either way, I support y’all!
-
txgrinchThank youThis is a great podcast
-
LeeAnnFZGreat Podcast!Thank you for lending your time and beautiful voice to these victims.

BGTC FanLong time fanThis true crime show remains one of the few that sticks to the facts & remains fair & balance. Yet it’s still so interesting. Love listening to the cases that get highlighted, the tone of the author. One of my must listens for year
-
Sheed@103SheezyI love this podcast i just started watching this in probably April and all these stories are just sad and horrific Thanks for shining light on these cases it really pisses me off when some cases are just unsolved or the police are not taking it serious. And most of these stories are about teenage girls and a kid it just upsets me because a kid doesn’t deserve to get killed epescially alianna defreeze she was just a innocent kid
-
MelaninMonr0eOnce good now just mehThe episodes are getting SHORTER and the ads are getting LONGER! (45 mins to 30mins). Also, there seems to be lack of actual work done to search the cases and seemingly only relying on published material i.e. true crime episodes. If the time and passion isn’t going to be consistent it’s best to just call it. It does a disservice to the women and girls, honestly.

Cyb1229Your voice is too low and we can hardly hearI love the podcast and I know the host has somewhat of a deep voice but I don’t know what happens because during commercials she is loud and clear but when she is telling the story her voice goes very low and it is hard to hear. I have to have my volume turned all the way up and even then sometimes it is hard to understand.. that is my only complaint. Other than that love the podcast!
-
FNOMINLI appreciate the exposure!Black women going missing g receive so little attention! Confirming what we know about bro g Black in America. We don’t doubt! I completely appreciate this sister’s commitment to shining a light and seeing us! I have to admit though, her staccato manner of speaking is irritating! I I lthink she is getting better though! Recent interviews are t as extreme and sound a little more natural of a way to speak!
-
Bkaquestar16I love murder mysteriesThis is on e if my favorite shows to listen to while I’m at work . The host does such a great job telling the stories and advocating for the victims . I can’t get enough.
-
LEGALLEGAL12Too close to homeI’ve been listening for a while and love it! The Sherri case is located 30 mins away and I’ve never heard of it. Now, I’m curious how many cases are close by. Thank you sharing all these tragic stories.
-
OlamideJasGreat WorkI appreciate the work that goes into finding and telling the stories of black girls and women. I really wish that you would talk to and incorporate interviews with friends/family to break up the monotony of hearing just one voice. Overall a great podcast!
-
Sophie1913Love this podThis podcast does a great job of telling stories of true crime of people of color. The stories are told with respect and dignity to the victims which I find important. She tells stories of people that do not get enough attention! It is much needed, thank you for telling our stories in a respectful way!
-
Queennie1Keep up the great workI love this show. I did not have any idea that there are so many “black girls gone”. I have told so many people about this show. Keep up the great work these stories need to be heard.
-
Nnenna'Episode suggestionHello, I love your show and have been considering asking you to do a story on Clarinda Holcomb. She was a mother of three small girls and was murdered after watching their father being killed in front of her by a man named Reginald Green. Not sure how much you can find on the story he was the son of my cousin who is now raising his granddaughters. We life in a world where people should be ashamed to f how they handle the cases of those of us that are black and brown. I appreciate you telling the stories that most of us would never know about if it were not for people like you and your husband. Thank you 🙏🏼
-
Tisha MareeLove the podcastLove this podcast && how it brings awareness to so many black && brown girls that go missing without any new coverage.. Most of these stories I’ve never heard.
-
PoisonIvey08Needs ImprovementI used to really love this show because it was one of my first experiences with Black true crime and highlighted stories other podcasts didn't. However, now that other podcasts have come out I realize that this podcast doesn't go into the story or give as much context. I think if you're going to tell the story you should do a little more research and provide more info other than that the crime occurred.

Tanyka MThe fake voiceThe voice is annoying. I tried to listen. And I don’t mean to be rude. It’s like she’s trying to hard to sound proper. I love the theme of the podcast. I love the stories. But the fake voice makes it unbearable for me….
-
Trixxie28It’s Okay so far…I’ve listened to a few episodes so far, having found this podcast 2 days ago. I love that cases about black and brown women who are often forgotten about in the media is highlighted on here and I love learning about their stories, but theres no in-depth research regarding their stories. Also, the editing is a bit off as certain parts are repeated or just downright cut off. Trying to be fair, this is the first 10-15 episodes I’m talking about. I’ll come back and edit once I listen more. Editing is still off. The flow of the show has gotten better but the editing is a problem for me. Edit: 04/2024: I’m still a listening and the editing has gotten significantly better! I also love that you include solved stories. Thanks Amara!

becklovestajLoveI love this podcast telling our stories is so important!!
-
Sese29Love this podcast!I Love this podcast! The host is well spoken and knowledgeable. You can tell she does the research needed. Also, to the few reviews of people crying about this being a BLACK girl gone podcast only..GO CRY ABOUT IT. Anyone with sense knows that when black women come up missing and or murdered it doesn’t nearly get as much coverage as our white counterparts. Please go cry somewhere else. This is NOT the place. Sincerely a fed up black woman!

Paul 86538Great Premise…Poor PresentationThe topic of the show is near and dear to me. The show has a wonderful premise. The issue is the host. I can tell she is not a journalist. She just skims the surface of all of these topics with internet research. It’s like she is just reading a Google search out loud. I would be ok with this if she could read better. The host takes these long silent pauses as if she lost her place in her notes. This show is just tough to listen to.
-
Mandie Lee HazeGiving a voice to the voicelessI love this show. The stories are well researched, detailed, and always respectful to the victims — who Amara works tirelessly to let their names & stories be known and advocate for them. Thank you for doing what mainstream media won’t. These girls deserve justice.
-
Lani_Nosahani_Incredible, Genuine and Educational PodcastI started listening to this podcast about two weeks ago, and I haven’t been able to stop. I listen in all my free time. Amara relays these cases in a way that honors the victims and raises awareness about how systemic racism and oppression causes these stories to be overlooked by police officers and the media. Thank you so much for telling the stories that are so often overlooked.
-
KIMsimoneGreat ShowNot only are the stories well researched, the host is a great storyteller. These are important stories and need to be heard. Though many of the stories are dated, this podcast allows those women to hopefully seek some kind of justice. Focusing on women of color is beautiful. And after reading some of the reviews about your primary focus, I hope you keep going and highlighting black women.

BagelzN'SpaceNoWhen I hear about a missing person case, I’m not looking at the skin color. I’m starting the “YELLOW GIRL GONE” podcast now…… Do you see it? Literally all people are equal.
-
mobxoLove this Podcast!!!I originally started listening on YouTube until I found out about her having a Podcast.. I’ve been listening all day!!! I’ve learned so much & gained lots of knowledge about the dangers of this world! Keep them coming, Btw she has the same name as my daughter I just spell hers with an O! That’s another reason I like her along with her very soothing voice!
-
Anita BeautyExcellent WorkThank you, for the opportunities to listen to share and let of beware of the people that missing and my heart goes out to them. I pray the family receives recovery from their loves ones
-
NullityCarlee? Are you going to cover the fake disappearance of Carlee Russell? Yeah, I didn’t think so… Edit: the title of this podcast is pretty racist. You should care about all people regardless of color. This is shameful but you were doing the exact same things The News is doing when blowing up cases like JonBenét Ramsey, or Gabby Petito. You’re not helping the female cause whatsoever.
-
Chantel MoniqueThank you!!Thank you for telling our stories. Love this podcast.
-
Apft girlSurface level podcast about an necessary topicThis podcast is okay. It’s real value comes from covering cases of black victims. I’ve heard of some of the cases, but other may not have. The host is pretty much summarizing news articles and Wikipedia (if it exists) so there’s no investigative journalism happening. Very monotone. The topic makes it worth it!
-
Gemini SunThe Voice! This podcast is so captivating, due in large to the beautiful voice of the host! Her voice has a way of pulling you into the story, very similar to a good audiobook. In this case, with true crime stories, it’s almost unsettling (in a good way). The writing is also excellent and holds a great deal of compassion, and respect for the victims and their families.
-
Mrs S 930LOVE!!!I’m deep into this podcast and my current episode I’m listening too , I discovered we are also birthday twins !!!!now I love you even more !!!!
-
PamlicoQueenImportant Attention into the Stories of Missing and Murdered Black WomenI stumbled onto this podcast and have been bingeing it ever since. The host, Amara, reports objectively and honestly about missing and murdered Black women, highlighting the disparity between the attention and resources these victims and their families receive compared to missing and murdered white women.
-
Coolnickname95I have a story!!!Hi! I love listening to these stories. It’s terrible but I love getting to know these women’s stories, they deserve the recognition. But I have a story that I would love for you to do. I know about it a little but you always seem to find so much more information. The story is of a 18 yo girl that was murdered by a bf/ex bf because he believed she was pregnant. Autopsy revealed she wasn’t pregnant. He was convicted & sentenced. She had a 9 month old at the time of her murder. Her name is Trayona McDowell from Louisville ky. Please share her story
-
Yvette 08/17The best!!I absolutely love this podcast!!! I have listened to each and every episode!! Definitely one of my faves.
-
NaeBae09GratefulThis podcast is one of my favorites. I love listening about the misfortune of those who I can actually relate to. I have an auntie who went missing in January 2006 so the heartbreak is relatable. I’m glad somebody is getting everybody’s story out no matter how they were labeled or perceived. I love hearing the new and familiar stories.
-
Sadieb151You are doing a fantastic job! Thank you!I’m about to cry just writing this. Just listened to Asia, after finishing the story of the 11 year old girl that just walked off. The pain these families must feel is unimaginable. Thank you for telling their stories in such a meaningful way. They deserve to be told. To be known. 😭💔

C.A.GregoryA pleasant addition to my weekly roundup of PodcastsLove the style of reporting, and the host’s soothing tone. However I truly wish there was more investigative research done to so that more than a surficial knowledge to the cases are added, especially since many of these have been cold for decades. Also, there is some skipping in the episode that was released today (December 20 ‘23). Not sure if it’s just on my end but had to rewind a bunch of times. So maybe check that out. y
