Mike Sheas’s work and this talk show in particular has been some of the most impactful content to my 30-year DM hobby. This is must listen/read material IMHO. Mike leads the way giving consistent free value while offering some products for sale…and much of the best parts of the products are available for free. Mike gives very good commentary on industry news and events while being clear on his opinions and encouraging people to think for themselves. Mike reminds us of what’s important, playing games with our friends. Don’t over think it. Use the 8-steps to clear anxiety and run great games.

The host never called WOTC to task for interjecting politics in recent years. But the moment the OGL thing was teased and threatened his wallet after riding D&D’s coattails, there was an instant about face turning on the company to the point of changing the podcast name. After being a long time listener, I’ve found most of this podcast’s credibility to have gone out the window. There are other better and more neutral RPG casts to listen to. Best part of this show is the how to GM guidance & Q&A at the end.

In an internet universe filled with miserable trolls, Mike Shea—Sly Flourish—is a real gem. This is my favorite RPG podcast from my favorite dude working in the space. I read all your books, Mike! Keep up the awesome work!

Fantastic advice and a fun podcast to listen to even if you aren’t a dm/gm. Every episode feels like listening to a friend help you become better at dnd/rpgs. The news and analysis is timely and well informed. I’ve even purchased a bundle of Mike’s books after getting such great tools from this podcast and the books are great too. Keep it up Mike!

Ugh, I had just started listening when the drama and leak came out with the ogl. I had liked the content, and then all the opinions and junk came out with this latest episode about the ogl. It sounds like an angry man yelling at his microphone sounding like a right wing radio host. I don’t know any other way to say the kinds of vibes it gave me. Just not good. Please stick to DM/D&D prep.

I’m a DM and find Mike’s prep and discussion to be entertaining and educational. Nice to hear how his campaign is going, and what he is doing to prepare for the upcoming one. Great tips and tricks. Always looking forward to when a new episode drops.
