The best running podcast out there!
David and Megan are the real deal. Genuine, insightful and hilarious/uplifting. David is so approachable and always interested in helping and uplifting other runners. When you look at the results of Megan and David’s athletes and the results of Megan and David themselves they absolutely speak for themselves. Also there approach is so attainable for us who aren’t elite. SO keep spreading the love and the Huzzah vibes!

    I love!!
This is one of my favorite podcasts. I found while I was training for my first ultra marathon and wanted to understand heart rate training better. But I’ve been sucked in to all the other topics Megan and David have to offer. I love the mix between running/fitness/science/& other random topics. I’ve listened to this on my long runs, cleaning the house, car drives. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Best part of my life week!
Thank you Megan and David for this podcast! I have enjoyed listening over the last 4 year when I signed up for my first trail race that was a half marathon. Now I am approaching my first 50 miler. I have enjoyed your enthusiasm, authenticity, and research! Congratulations David on your accomplishment in your races and congratulations to Megan overcoming health complications and becoming a mom! You two have brought me so much joy with this podcast. Hezaa!!

    Science + love = can’t lose
Hi guys! Newer listener but long time nerd and fan of the sport. I want you to know how much I appreciate the energy and content you bring to keep us company on our drives, runs, or whatever we are getting up to. I’m in nursing school right now while also going through other big life transitions (I blew up my life to move to the mountains of Vermont) and it’s pretty stressful and lonely a lot of the time. My miles with podcasts are how I'm getting through it in once price. You are both so authentic and have the winning combo of all the science and all the love: you can’t lose. Thanks for continuing to show up, I’m rooting for you guys!! Kristi

    Fun and inspirational
You don’t need to be an ultra runner or marathoner to love this podcast. David and Megan have such great energy for running that it is infectious and keeps me motivated. Then there is the science, research and testing of theories that is both interesting, and somehow always funny. Especially loved episode 230, encouraging all of us to “take our shot” and push out of our comfort zone in running, but more importantly, in life. Thanks David and Megan!

Listening since the first few months - it just keeps getting BETTER
Megan and David are the kindest, most enthusiastic, and most delightfully weird running coaches on the planet. Every week is more than an hour of training science, oddly inappropriate yet still appropriate r-rated jokes, and unconditional love. What more could a person possibly want??? TEN STARS.

    Literally the Absolute Best!
David and Megan are AMAZING! Every episode is chock full of super interesting studies/research, awesome training theory, and perhaps most importantly the incredibly fun and energetic interaction between David and Megan! I’ve learned so so so much about how to improve in both running and life by listening to this podcast and I am incredibly excited to have found them! Love love love all the positivity and support, wrapped in a ton of fun and laughs! Simply the BEST!

    Best Running Podcast!
I’m sad I only found the SWAP podcast after David set the course record at Leadville, but better late than never!

    Leave politics out
The show content and your personalities are great but recently you’ve have introduced politics. While it’s your platform to do what you want, I can’t understand why you would discuss politics and with your divisive comments, create separation, and insult others. I used to strongly recommend your show to others but I no longer can. You may not lose many followers but you have lost at least one. Wish you all the best with your running and wish you would choose to leave politics out of running content.

    Love it!
Listening to this podcast makes me feel like I’m hanging out with friends. I’m a middle of the pack road runner but love hearing the science and being inspired to FAFO and chase big dreams. It’s also extra helpful to hear them doing all the things while raising a tiny human.

    Love this show
Great content! Found this show after listening to the interview with David on Science of Sport. Also, I thought I accidentally hit the playback speed increase the first time I listened to this show, but then I realized this is just the speed we’re going here. Love it.

The podcast running deserves—inspiring, informative, FUN
Megan and David embrace the joy and fun that makes running so wonderful while informing and inspiring those who want to dig deeper and push further in this incredible sport. Thank you, SWAP, for existing!

    Great but…
Wonderful people delivering amazing ultra running content with the sensibilities and humor of a couple of middle school boys who have spent one week too many away from adults at summer camp.
  • 737-900ER Pilot
    Just discuss running -please
Although the running info is very good. I would appreciate no politics, we know she will win(selected) we know that so stick to running info or at least sports info, disappointed

    Best people, Best pod!
Although I discovered this pod after I started running, I quickly learned it’s about so much more. David and Megan are 2 of the best humans you could ever have in your ears!! On top of that, they’re both world class athletes and coaches. The way they can uplift people and ideas has impacted my life in such a positive way that if there were 10 stars, they should have them all!!! Oh yeah…. Bread bowls….
  • Pbduff
    Great listen
This podcast is fantastic. If you’re a fan of trail running (and lots of other endurance sports talk as well), exercise science, nutrition information, and whole lot of other cool topics delivered by two exceptionally good humans, then this podcast is for you. I came for the trail running info and stayed for the joyful, kind, and supportive hosts. 10 outta 10. Def recommend.

SWAP is superior- Megan let me work for you??
“Why are you crying?” … my husband when I come back from runs listening to SWAP. Megan and David talk running, go into research, make me laugh, but more than anything inspire me to be my best self. They spread love, they inspire kindness, the world would be a better place if everyone listened to SWAP. Megan, I’m a nurse that desperately wants to become a women’s health nurse practitioner but just can’t get the finances together to go back to school at the moment. I want to help women and people with uteruses get the healthcare they deserve. I also want to have evidence to look to when giving recommendations regarding exercise in pregnancy/ postpartum. Especially given this is something I’m going through now! All of that being said- if you ever need a research nurse let me know!

    A light in dark times
These two crush it every week. The world needs more of this spirit. How many podcasts are able to actually make their listeners feel loved in a genuine way? Thank you for the all the knowledge and light for all these years. You inspire me to be more vulnerable with the people I love and even those I don’t.

    The GOATs
SWAP is the perfect blend of running science, news, analysis, goofiness, hot takes, and love. Listening to David and Megan each week has made me a better runner, parent, and person. Huzzah!

    Woohoo!
David and Megan are the best part of my Tuesday! Helpful tips and reminders for the ultra athlete in all of us. I’ve seen recent reviews regarding their take on politics and I believe sharing your own opinion on your own podcast is fine. If I didn’t agree, I’d still listen to them. I don’t think they’re against love because they don’t agree with Trumpets. They’re on the right side of history ;) Go run a trail when you feel yourself getting angry.
  • luizabarteldes
    Love
Uplifting, positive, smart. I learn a lot from those two so thank you! Some, or maybe a lot of the political views I don’t agree, but I absolutely respect their right to say it. Please keep sharing your knowledge with us!

Too much politics for a running podcast
Interesting running topics and conversation, but too divisive when it often slips into politics with strong opinions.
  • Happy tree!
The best most uplifting, intelligent podcast!!
Makes me feel good! Makes feel that I count , that I might get back to walk and maybe run after an accident. I learn so much listening to each episode… and as a grandma, I love seeing Leo grow and thrive in happiness! You make me feel fresh, renewed, and included, your laugh and generous spirit is contagious! Thank you Megan ave David .
  • Upliftandrun
    Uplifting, provocative, and informed
This podcast is a wonderful companion on any run and especially on long runs. Megan and David cover a wide array of topics and I always learn a lot when I listen— about running, life, and quirky stuff. I enjoy the occasional banter and that they don’t shy away from controversial topics everyone should think about in running and life.

    Fantastic podcast
There is so much educational content on this podcast for endurance runners. I also love how engaging and genuine David and Megan are. This is the podcast I look forward to downloading the most every week because I always learn something new that enhances my training process. I really appreciate how authentic and courageous they are. I admire how you excel in all that you do by living life with so much passion. I’m a union organizer and an ultramarathoner. I appreciate the shout out you gave to collective bargaining in one of your episodes and I appreciate that you aren’t afraid to use your platform to speak out against the existential threat of a second Trump term. Love you guys and all that you do.

    My favorite
I didn’t get into podcasts till about 3 years ago and have listened to quite a few in that time, many about running. SWAP is by far my favorite podcast. I download it every week regardless of what the topics are. Megan and David are endlessly uplifting, totally honest and super smart. I love the mix of real life, positivity, stats and science and reckless, brutal honesty in the best way possible. Keep up the amazing job!

Not as genuinely about love as they say
Stopped listening. Some topics are good and interesting but others are way off topic of running or just weird. They boast about how they are about love towards all and blah blah blah. But latest episode just singled out a whole group of people as not being good people because of their political views. I believe it’s all messed up but to single out people because of this is not love. Maybe David and Megan are not very good people because they think others are not very good people and don’t genuinely live up to what they boast they are about. Isn’t that what politicians do? Who’s worse?
  • Rivers920
    Great but….
I really have enjoyed this podcast and the fun information on it. I feel it’s a fun escape to the craziness of everyday life. That being said it has divisive moments when they get into politics. “But I don't think you can like Donald Trump and be a good person” really gives a hypocritical vibe to a podcast that boasts inclusivity and this is coming from someone who doesn’t care for Trump but does respect everyone’s perspectives. Using the quote: We are more alike than we are different. Why don’t we focus on the other things that we can come together on and leave politics out? Chances are nobody is making their political decisions based on a podcast on running anyways.

Keep including the news!! I love the DNF comparison also aging athlete ( as one myself) Love you guys

    From Running with Love
I’ve been listening to David and Megan for a couple years now and really appreciate their sincerity and thoughtfulness when it comes to the sport of running and endurance sports in general. They do a great job cutting through the noise when it comes to new research while also embracing the absurdity within distance running. They both have skin in the game and this matters to me a lot. They aren’t two coaches who just point to training plans or workouts saying this is best, do it. They practice what they preach and exhibit their careful consideration in racing like David’s last 50 mile win in Leadville and many of Megan’s great performances. I do not agree with all their takes and certainly don’t need to. I keep listening because they approach the sport and everyone around them with love and a fierce desire to keep improving as athletes and people. Thanks for the content you all provide and the courage to do so with such a loving disposition.

    Easily my favorite running podcast!
Megan and David are the best! I love their energy and positivity and it cheers me up every time I listen. They also have tons of knowledge and experience when it comes to endurance sports.

This is the energy gel of podcasts
This pair is on fire. They are kind, comforting, and inspiring. They answered an email from me in approximately 15 minutes. I find it amazing, even though I am a medium-distance, aspiring marathon/ultra marathoner, with a chronic pain condition to manage. Benefits may include preventing the emotional bonk.

    BEST PODCAST EVER!
Authentic and inspirational content that transcends running.

    No thanks
Stopped listening. Too self absorbed behind the ‘we love everything’. Too much sketchy product pushing. Too much icky vibe for me.

    David and Megan freaking rock!!!!!
These conversations are so encouraging, uplifting, funny, and joyful! The best mix of science and silliness and sports ever. Huzzah!

    Something to look forward to!
I look forward to the new podcast every Tuesday and the Patreon podcasts on Friday. David and Dr. Megan Roche provide the chance to learn about sport science and human potential and make it fun with their side commentary. The combo of the two of them is kind of like what Bill Nye is for the science world - taking complicated training science subjects and making them fun and applicable.
  • sylviekpck
    One of a kind
It took me several listens to get used to how fast these two talk, but in the end I can’t help but love their honesty, their humor, their intelligence and the topics they visit in this podcast. I don’t think everyone will love or understand this podcast, but I encourage you to give it a try, you will laugh a lot and learn a lot.
  • Odetokirk
    It makes you happy!
Love this podcast! David and Megan’s banter is top notch. They inspire, love, and uplift all things. The research they do is very helpful for my training and they present it in a way that I can understand. I never used to look forward to Tuesdays, but now I can’t wait for them.

Great science mixed with laugh out loud good times
I always wonder if the people walking or running the opposite direction wonder what I’m listening to when I’m laughing to myself listening. I can be unmotivated or tired or hitting a wall and boom David Roche makes me laugh. I hope someday I see him at mile x when I want to quit. I wish I had 1/10 of his uplifting silly spirit ❤️ where are the links to all the great research though ??

    It’s Tuesday!!!
I have listened to each and every episode since its inception. These two are brilliant. They impart such a breadth of information while joking the whole way through. If you have a question, these two actually respond! I adore them, and they adore one another. Their banter is priceless. Their relationship is enviable. Love Each Other (Leo!). I could go on and on…. This is a don’t miss can’t miss situation. HUZZZAH!

    Definitely worth a listen!
I am *not* a podcast listener, but I make time for David and Megan every week. Their blend of humor, enthusiasm, deep knowledge, and science is very entertaining, and every week I come away from the episode having learned something new. Thank you SWAP for changing my running for the better!

    Best running podcast ever!
Seriously love this podcast. I say best running podcast but it’s actually my favorite podcast. David and Megan, both great runners in their own right, are coaches to some of the best runners in the world so in other words, they know their stuff. The podcast is a great mix of running news, recent science studies applicable to runners and tons of funny moments. One thing that sets this podcast apart is how authentic and real David and Megan are. They’re just so positive and uplifting to everyone and listening to this podcast really brightens up my week. Tuesday is officially Some Work, All Play podcast day. Keep up the great work!
