Michelle McKThe missing link in my long covid journeyI went from marathon to bedridden in a matter of months in my long covid journey. I suffered debilitating symptoms for months before finding mind body work and brain retraining. I cannot overstate how important this work is - it saved me from the darkest chapter of my life. Understanding that my symptoms were neuropathic and adopting journaling, meditation, and somatic tracking was the most important thing in my healing journey. Recovery is possible.

239621JmanHelping with my back painI’ve been suffering from horrible back pain and radiating pain down my right leg for two years. A discectomy didn’t really solve the problem. This podcast was mind blowing in teaching me to address the pain from a different perspective. I’m in the process of doing the work — doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a quick fix for me — but I’m very hopeful now! Thank you! I wish I could work with these guys personally!

jeniferstTragic. Lack of knowledge of fascial linesJust listened to “how can I tell if my brain is causing my pain”. Host tells person and live audience that gardening and vacuuming are the same - both postures hunched over. Not true. Gardening is involves forceful, stabbing into earth with arms and legs. Activates big muscles. For those with pains related to muscle groups that we work together, fascial tightness can result in wrong muscle groups being used for the activity. Small muscles along spine as opposed to big muscles. That’s what happens with vacuuming. It’s not what happens with gardening if you are digging. I’ve been working on my pain for six years with PT/bodywork person. She made me aware of this. Take a look at Meyers book Anatomy Trains – this is about relationship between muscles in the body and fascia that wraps them in groups. At another point in the podcast he says pain that moves around is a clue to it being brain pain. Fascial lines are connected to each other. Your pain moves around because different parts of your fascia become tight or restricted as you use your muscles. The only positive thing I would say about this podcast after sampling 2 episodes is that yes, fear of pain causes you to tense up. That’s true. I find if I accept that I am working on my pain and try to have a more relaxed attitude about it, I don’t compound it with tightening up my diaphragm/pelvic floor. But some of that is unavoidable because it’s sub- cortical. I have recently tried NMES device- very helpful. Would be the exact opposite approach to this podcast’s focus on your concious mind. ( btw I am just regular person not any kind of specialist and not paid by anybody to promote or disprove anything! Just a person still working on resolving pain.)

JasmineDiaz6AmazingI stopped listening to this podcast after about four episodes because using what I learned, I was able to get rid of my pain. It feels like a miracle. I’ve been going to chiropractors and doing PT for a year to resolve terrible lower back pain that I was thinking I was gonna just have to deal with for the rest of my life. By reframing how I think about my pain and using the pain-imaging technique they suggest, I was able to get rid of pain when it cropped up and occurrences of my pain reduced and reduced. Now I feel the back pain maybe once or twice a day a few days a week at like a level two at most and I’m able to get rid of it using the technique. All this from not even 2 hours worth of listening! This podcast is incredibly impactful. Thanks for making it.

Sean ArnoldHappy HealingThis podcast has been incredible in helping me learn to identify and effectively respond to neuroplastic symptoms. My symptoms, including pain, fatigue, and anxiety, have lessened as a result, and when I do have a flair up I can much more easily identify what is going on (my brain is on a rant), send myself messages of safety, and give myself more of what I’m needing. I recommend listening to the episodes repeatedly so the learnings can sink in more deeply over time. Alan and Alon are really funny and endearing as well.

kelly-n-brooksChanged my lifeThis podcast and their book “The Way Out” helped me completely resolve my nerve pain. I was in total despair for months, truly believing I was stuck like that and worried it would keep getting worse. Through learning about neuroplastic pain, hearing other people’s success stories, and using somatic tracking, my nerve pain went away in less than 2 weeks! I still have some other symptoms I am dealing with but this stuff truly works and it’s helping me tackle those as well.

mbishdirnddInteresting and helpful, avoid the Facebook communityGreat podcast, but don’t join the Facebook group. It’s unfortunately been co-opted by toxic “moderators” playing as therapists and giving unhelpful and often condescending advice. Really a shame. However Alan Gordon’s book is well worth the read and made a big positive impact in my life.

Lidget26Not as I hoped.I believe that there is a strong psychological component to pain, and it’s good to hear the issue brought to a wider audience. But the calls with listeners I find deceptive. The hosts speak to dlstraught callers in soothing tones and inevitably within moments, the callers say they feel better. But it is natural for a caller, especially one wanting to believe in TMS, to lean toward telling the host what he wants to hear. There is an element of flim-flam or faith healing to these calls that does a disservice to Sarno and his work.

$$HEY NOW$$Half-truthsAlan is woefully reductive about the massive subject of chronic pain. There are obvious benefits to somatic tracking, deep breathing, ext. But please…. This simply reeks of infomercial psychology.

Beckers53Helped me turn the cornerFirst off, I think I might be a little in love with Alan. That was a lot of free therapy! But Nightingale syndrome aside, this podcast is what really and truly helped me turn the corner from “F*ck you my pain isn’t in my head, it’s REAL!” to “Okay, maybe it’s coming from my brain sending too many danger signals, but it’s not my fault and there IS something I can do about it. Holy sh*t, I might actually be able to be pain free!” So for that, thank you both, truly, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

KdiddlzUse correct grammar in a public forum pleaseCorrect: “We too”. As in “we have too”. Incorrect: “us too”. You would not say “us too have published similar results”.

michelle a huberExtremely important!I love this podcast I think it’s incredibly useful for chronic pain sufferers and their friends/families.
-
no, very wrongThis person has never suffered from true migraine painThis is ridiculous and minimizes the credibility of people who suffer from true chronic pain. Migraine pain is not due to fear of pain. When migraine wakes you up in the middle of the night, it is not caused by fear. These 2 people need to understand the clinical phenomenon of what happens when a migraine sets in. Vascular changes in the nerves and brains of chronic migraine sufferers is real. Don’t even try to compare this to your kid’s fear of shots. Ridiculous analogy.

Sliding DuckNeuroscientist and Chronic Pain Sufferer says…True excellence. In the tradition of Dr. Sarno, but simply and practically realized. An essential and grounded way to touch and shift your own neural networks away from pain. Alarmingly easy, especially with Alan and Alon as thoughtful guides. Listen here for a way to have powerful control over your mind and relief from chronic pain. Thank you A&A.

KatieElyse18Thank you!Alan and Alon, thank you for your podcast. I feel I’m finally on the right path with your techniques. I love that you tackle the dark subject of chronic pain in such a delightful manor. Your examples are relatable and enlightening. Just got started on your book as well. Thank you for helping when no one else could. It’s been a long frustrating battle with pain and you’ve been the light I needed.

MIZ-SuccessIt works!I got cured from chronic pain in April 2020 using Alan’s protocol, available for free on the TMS Wiki. I went to pain specialists, had MRI scans done, got cortisone injections, and saw chiropractors, physical therapists and masseuses to no avail. I read many books on TMS and tried out other protocols, but they didn’t work for me. I highly recommend Alan’s work. He has never gotten a dime from me but helped me more than the U.S. healthcare system. I paid thousands of dollars in out of pocket insurance costs for traditional treatments, which didn’t work at all. When I started implementing what Alan teaches, I felt relief within a couple of days. Within two weeks 90% of the pain was gone. I relapsed briefly when the pandemic lockdowns started. Then I went back to the principles he teaches. I’ve been able to get through a pandemic, losing a 10-years job, starting a company, and other life events without relapsing. No pain, even though doctors say that I have compression issues in my lower back. Whatever! :-)

anniepncThank you for helping me to Reverse a lifetime of pain w RSD/CRPS Type II’ve never been more hopeful for long term solution to my chronic pain !! Thank you Both !! This podcast along with the Curable app, has significantly reduced my pain levels - and I’ve only been doing this for a week ! I have RSD/CRPS Type I in my left leg (15 years), in my left arm (5 years) and last October the disease began to spread into organ systems throughout my body. Somatic tracking and the Curable exercises are Significantly reducing pain levels because a large amount of RSD pain is neuroplastic. I highly encourage any chronic pain sufferer , especially those with RSD, to use Curable and listen to this podcast !

-
SusanARichExcellent PodcastThey are so clear and articulate in explaining the science behind pain. And the two of them together are very funny. This makes it more palatable to listen to a subject that can be quite difficult for those of us experiencing chronic pain. It really should be on video so we can see Alon's bunny paws!
-

Kari Lyn StevensAs a TherapistAs a therapist I am so excited about the work that they are doing here. And, that they are bringing it to as many people as possible through this podcast. This is something that needs to be common knowledge as we navigate not only our pain, but our anxiety and depression. Five stars is not enough.

caring for our democracyEngaging and informativeI have been dealing with chronic pain for 30 years. I have done a lot of work on the mind-body connection, utilize self hypnosis and meditation yet I still find that I am learning a great deal from this podcast series on how to manage chronic pain and how to identify what I can and cannot do about it. Great series and fun to listen to.
-
grateful sydthank you, curableI first stumbled upon this app, curable a bit over a year ago. I remember the first podcast episode I listened to was about a woman named Susan who suffered from chronic migraines. As a migraine sufferer, this episode rlly resonated w/ me and gave me hope. It honestly brought me to tears. I think it was the first time I even considered the possibility of “getting better”. These podcast episodes have given me so much hope and insight into the roots of my chronic pain. I am endlessly grateful for this app, for the perspectives on pain it has given me. I honestly can’t put into words how much this podcast has helped me in dealing with and lessening my pain (bananas). Thank you so much. 🥺
-
mojo da maestroSo insightful!I have a lot in common with Dr. Alan’s story. I’m currently afraid to do anything because I think I will hurt my back. I’m currently trying to overcome the fear of the pain. I believe I can do it. I’m currently listening to the curable app.....that’s how I found this podcast.
