    Great for the intermediate learner
I absolutely love this podcast. I listen to it while I walk dogs. With all the different stories you improve your French skills and learn about French culture and history. One of the podcasts taught me how to make French crepes!

    Great French, depressing topics
There are many controversial and hard topics addressed by this podcast - almost all are charged social topics or stories of oppression and tragedy. It’s a lot. I wish they would mix it up with a story of a boy who catches a fish or about skiing in chamonix or anything that I can just concentrate on the French without solving for world peace and social justice every time.

Decent for learning French, but why so many Parisians?
This podcast is definitely useful for learning French, with it being possible to understand the storyline even if you don’t know French at all. As your French gets better, you will start to understand more and more of the episodes. However, very little slang is used in the episodes, so this podcast does not actually help you understand how real people talk. Additionally, most of the storylines happen in Paris, and if not in Paris, then somewhere else in France. I would personally appreciate having a lot more episodes from Québec and North Africa. The accents are very different, and getting practice with them is important. Finally, it would be nice if the storylines were a little less predictable.

Helping me reach my goal of B1
Constant threats from Duo aside, this is a pretty cool podcast. Best used along with the Duolingo app, for the learning style/pace.

    Really the best!
I absolutely love this podcast. I’m A2 level and pick up bits and pieces of the French but find it so helpful. The host could make a wall seem interesting !!

    Engaging, Exciting, and finely-crafted!
Thank you, Duolingo Team! These podcasts are so well-done. You pick interesting stories and keep the French language accessible but challenging. I love to dip my toes back into the rich world of French language and culture by listening to these delightful pieces. Keep up the excellent work! Bisous!

    Great pod!
I only started learning French about 1-2 months ago. I don’t know a lot at all but I love hearing out words I know and the English summary helps a lot!

    Josephine Baker serialized is A+
Love the serialized season on Josephine Baker!! Really enjoying listening to it and I’m engaged the whole way through. 4 stars only because I listened to some of the re-visited episodes from this season and the audio quality on the French is quite poor. Much prefer the acted / serialized episodes.

In the Spotlight with Jacques Brel
I loved this episode. My father was a high school and college French teacher and Francophile. Although he was born in Vienna and immigrated to the US in 1927 as a 10 year old, and we heard German at home because my grandmother lived with us, he insisted we all study French. I am the only one of the 4 kids who speaks it. We grew up on Jacques Brel listening to his records on our stereo. And when the Broadway play, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris arrived, he took my mother and me to it at least twice! And after that, intermixed with Jacques Brel records we also listened to the stage recording of the play. This episode brought back many fond memories of my father who died when I was in high school. Thank you for this. Now I’m going to listen to both Jacques Brel and Arnaud! Teri Gruenwald

    More English than French
Was excited to try a good easy French language podcast, but unfortunately this one has more English than French in it. This language switching is terrible for learning, and Duolingo should really know better.

    Merci d’une profeseur de langue
Salut! As a language teacher myself (Spanish, my native tongue), I can really appreciate the excellent craftsmanship Duolingo has put into these podcasts. The stories are engaging AND real. The speed of speech and clear diction are perfect for intermediate-level learners, plus Duolingo provides access to all scripts. What’s not to love? Thanks, Duolingo! The podcast about Josephine Baker was amazing. Mariangeles V.

I am so grateful for this magnificent story you presented to us. It evoked all sorts of emotions while telling a story I have not heard before. At the same time it is improving my French. Please continue to give us more stories like this. Keep up the good work ! Best regards to everyone at Duolingo. Robert L. Detroit, Michigan USA

If you’re looking for yet another place where you can find virtue signaling to minority groups (only this time in French), look no further.

    Tres bien!
As a French learner, it has been interesting to hear French be spoken in the context of a story, or in the case, a longer one of Josephine. Keep it up, et Au Revoir!

    Great system
This is the best French learning podcast I have found. Besides being an unusual and very effective system, it gives a wide range of information about French history, travel, food, etc. I can’t say enough good about it.

Great content but please can we get some francophone hosts
Like Ngofeen before her, Ariana has an appealing radio voice in English. But while his French pronunciation was iffy but tolerable, hers is just bad. “Hello and byenn-va-noo to the Duolingo French podcast.” I listen to the Spanish Duolingo podcast also, and Martina sounds right. The French one has some cool concepts (love that we’re following Josephine Baker now!) but I need a host who sounds like they can actually speak French.
  • YGlen
    Great addition to enhance learning!
Awesome first season, and yet has found a way to continuously improve. The latest season about Josephine Baker is the best yet!
  • EdallunaVal
    Surprisingly inspiring
The French Duolingo podcast has been a pleasant surprise. The French is slowed down to a pace I can understand and varied enough for me to learn, but most importantly, the stories have been so wonderful and inspiring. I see a new season is coming out focusing on Josephine Baker, and I’m excited! I also hope other seasons in the future continue to profile the diverse voices in France and other French-speaking countries.

    Free… Ok
Just another corporation, preaching liberal ideas and making money off capitalism. Please stop advertising free education because that’s a complete lie.
  • HannahFuqua
    Woke but still useful
The only reason for four stars is because of the annoying wokeness. The layout itself is great and I love the variation in accents, but sometimes the content misses the mark for me, especially the early episodes.

    J’aime😍
I love this podcast. As a young Duo learner, I love the language I am learning and always long for more ways to learn. This helps me with French so much as I work my way to being fluent. It is just what you need, to any other learners reading this. So get it NOW!

    Well-put together
As an intermediate French learner, it is nice to actually be able to follow along to this podcast. They speak at a slower pace so you can process the words, unlike watching an authentically French movie. Interesting and light-hearted topics. Good production quality, the narrator is pleasant to listen to as well.
  • Valerie loves French culture
    Incroyable!
I love learning French via these stories! I’ve been listening to each episode a couple of times for understanding. This also helps me as I watch Lupin in French with French subtitles. Now I want to do more research on Alexsandre.
  • Ta marie
    Great podcast!
I love how this podcast journeys through a story and adds French to help listeners familiarize themselves with the language.
