Get Offset

65

Get Offset is hosted by Emily Harris and touches on a different topic each week. From new products to controversies in the music and guitar industries, Emily brings her years of music business experience to audio essays and discussions. Having worked heavily in live music and the musical instrument industries, as well as being a performer in bands covered on NPR and Big Takeover, Emily and her guests are dedicated to offsetting the status quo of guitar and gear culture. But they're also not too serious about it. Usually.

    Thanks for understanding
This is just a brilliant show - learn a bit about music gear, learn a bit about the business of music touring and production, learn a lot about human nature and how to be a decent person from a different perspective than mine. Joan and Emily cast a really wide net of musical influences - they cover the kind of indie / shoegaze I already was into, but there’s also a lot of insight into country and cover bands which weren’t on my radar. It’s funny, it’s honest, it’s sweet, and above all, it’s insightful. You should have started listening about 100 words ago.

Way more than a gear podcast
The channel says it’s about offset guitars, but it includes a lot of pedal reviews, recent music industry news and the occasional interview. They provide a much needed different perspective in the overall guitar gear culture. The positive vibe and affirmations are plus!

    Gear heads are great people
All the things I like about gear culture, none of the garbage that I don’t like. Talented and knowledgeable hosts.

    Great show, great people
Each episode is a joy to listen to! Nothing like friendly hosts chatting about music gear and other topics. It’s the highlight of my Tuesdays when a new episode drops!

Quality Talk on the Music and the Gear World.
I appreciate Emily’s and Joan’s discussions and closer looks on gear news, anecdotes, and coverage of being a musician today. Even lately feeling the market on the used gear, is it a good time to buy or not, giving opinions on gear they have tried, what they’re excited about, natural reaction to new gear announcements. They make you feel you’re at a table talking about music. Whether it’s a Fender release that wasn’t properly announced, a Metallica Whiskey, or the strangeness of PRS jumping into the pedal world. There’s coverage for a lot of ground… And I love it. 5 stars. I’ll keep coming back. 💙- Joe (Lex)

    It’s okay
They seem like two friends carrying on a slightly awkward conversation. Could be what people are looking for. Not as much guitar talk as I would have liked. I listened to a handful of episodes but it just wasn’t for me.

    Emily is the saving grace
This podcast would be way better without the dude host always playing devils advocate and perpetuating every sort of white male entitlement imaginable.

    Honest reviews
I feel like you get honest reviews from this podcast. They also get great guest.

    Andrew has improved.
And he shouldn't care that i think that, but i thought i should change my review. Still kinda like when your parents made your friends little brother tag along, but I acknowledge and appreciate the growth and experience.

    Always a Great Listen!
I really enjoy this podcast! Emily & Andrew cover a wide variety of topics dealing with the guitar world including gear, hot button issues, gigging and general personal life subjects. I almost always find something I totally agree with and something I totally don’t agree with in each episode, which makes for a very engaging podcast. Keep up the great work!

Great content, but seems quieter than other shows
Love the content. Keep it up! I feel like this podcast is mixed quieter than most though, and I have to max out my headphones just to be able to hear both voices while I’m on the bus.

    Incredible
The best. Definitely not the worst.

not a podcast listener, but I LOVE THIS
So have only been listening for 2 weeks, but absolutely enjoy this “cast”. Not 100% guitars all the time, but 100% relevant at all times. Doesn’t hurt that I’m an OffSet guitar/bass player myself.

    Awesome Pod Cast
First off I must say that this podcast is great. If it were a test I’d give it an A++. However, it’s just a podcast so 5 stars is all you get. It’s creative and is clever. Andrew you’re my hero. Keep up the good work and I love you

    Great Podcast & Community!
This is one of the few podcast/communities I interact with, and that says a lot for me. I don’t have many opportunities to listen to podcasts, so I choose wisely what I listen to, and this is one that I continually enjoy. Great interviews, discussions and community with topics that range from offset guitars to cats.

    Shooting the sh**
It’s like hanging out in my living room with low key friends just shooting the sh** about music gear and gear adjacent topics. Couple of loveable randos who make me giggle.

    Cats?
I’m not a cat person soooooooooooo....... But they are great anyway! Really appreciate what they do! Subscribe already!

    what the industry needed
Emily and Andrew have great chemistry on the mic. They have a great mix of fun and silly, but they aren't afraid of diving into conversations that need to be brought to light in the changing gear world. They are very pasionate about equality, and their love and hate for punny dad jokes.

Someone else already said "Get Get Offset"
Not your average guitar podcast. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in a social commentary on things happening in the music industry. Also cats and gear.
  • Update please.......
    Cats
I’m allergic to them, so I don’t listen out of principal...but they seem to have their ducks in a row.

    Yesssssssss!
My good friend Rahm turned me on to this! A+++++

Getting past the nuts and bolts
This podcast is about guitars, effects pedals, luthiers, and cats but it is actually much more then that. The conversations get beyond the nuts and bolts of the guitars, the little colored boxes on boards and really get into layers of being a musician(any level). I love that the conversations are honest and engaging. The topic conversations feel like you’re hanging out with friends and I have legitimately made people turn their heads as I react to things like I’m crazy talking to myself lol. Emily and Andrew have good conversation chemistry and respect eachother and their guests. I look forward to each one and love their Facebook group community also. Def worth a listen ad your time.

    Guitars and Cats!
Great stuff! Interesting take on guitar gear and the community that supports it. Plus CATS!!!
  • lumpycam
Great unique take on the topic!
I am a relatively new listener and discovered this podcast from other listeners on a shared Facebook group. I’ve played guitar since I was 6, my kids also play and I love the take this podcast has. I am glad this is out there, I think my daughter may enjoy this one over the typical format because it’s kinda like talking to me - guitars and cats dominate the conversation often.

    Get Get Offset
This podcast explores issues thoughtfully while not taking itself too seriously. The hosts complement each other well, and have a knack for bringing on interesting guests.

    Utter waste of time
This podcast comes off like 2 junior high kids who play in a cover band rambling on about very little. When they're not talking about cats, they are offering their opinions on gear, music, and guitarists that they know very little about. They're probably nice enough people. For that I'll go 2 stars. Sorry my review couldn't be nicer, but there is just nothing here of any value for me.
  • Wild Pretty Things
    Fresh Toans
Emily is wonderful and expresses an excellent mix of criticism and positivity. Andrew's POV gives the show balance, but I wish he'd have more confidence and make his points directly. People are going to disagree and be turned off no matter how much you qualify and contextualize your statements. This show is a welcome addition in the guitar gear podcast landscape!
  • noahtherice
    Good stuff
I love gear, this is a podcast about gear, therefore I love it! Cats are cool too.

    From a dog person
As a dog person, I still appreciate the cat banter. The chemistry and subject matter are good. This podcast could stand out amongst the guitar-related podcasts.
  • kjsdh321
Nice job on the topic selection
Nice to see another podcast with some folks who are actually building the guitars. Good topics.

    It’s a guitar podcast
    Ya know!
  • bibsterpro
    Guitar podcast
It’s a podcast about guitars and unlike the slum or 60 turns of poo they actually talk gear and also cats this might just be in the first 2 minutes that I listened to, but hey that’s all I needed to subscribe so yeah you should too. Why are you still reading this just go subscribe already this review is garbage at this point unlike the podcast that is not trash.

    Looking forward to more episodes!
Great for the laughs, but also thought provoking
