Kyle0990$abcdefghijkThe best and most entertainingI am so grateful for this show not only have I became a better keeper, but I feel like a better person all around just from putting some things into motion that I hear from the show! It has the best speakers and guests anyone could ask for top notch information with very educated people! Thanks Dillon! I really love your network and a proud supporter! I love your mission! If it wasn’t for you I’d prolly be keeping In racks with 10000 animals in a room! Now I learned bigger isn’t better and to get into some rare species that might actually be good for the hobby Lacerta agilis agilis and hope I can make a difference there! :) keep up the awesome network! 10 stars out of 5!

Jae Eats FoodTruly excellent EXCELLENT content. Listener for lifeI absolutely love how our wonderful host explores all aspects of exotic pet/captive animal care and research. I especially love how he explores the ethics of each corner of the reptile/invert/amphibian hobby. It really scratches a brain itch I didn’t know I had. He’s also a truly EXCELLENT interviewer. He keeps the conversation going without overshadowing the guest. He brings energy and thought-provoking questions to the discourse and you can tell he puts a lot of effort and preparation for these discussions. Absolutely brilliant stuff. Love love love

Inter675Has become disappointingI once really looked forward to this podcast but lately I can’t seem to get through the episodes without cringing at the lack of unbiased thought. Care and ethical advice is given like definitive answers and leaves no room for growth or remembrance of the people who made this hobby possible. Episode 210 left me so disappointed that I don’t think I can continue to listen to this show. It was nothing more than a rant with little basis in substantiated evidence and seemed like I was listening to someone who had their feelings badly hurt. The show was so good but all good things must come to an end.

KD4745Love it!New subscriber on YouTube here. I keep a red bearded dragon named Cheeto, a BCI rescue named Oscar and a baby blood python named TypO. I love watching the YouTube videos. I’ve learned a lot and will continue to try to give the best care to my animals. It’s a great channel/podcast wich brings people from the community together. Thanks a lot, Kyle

themonitormanMarch 24,2023You’re on point! Once the animal is taken from the wild it’s no longer that same animal. The behavior and instincts change. For example. Usually when you take a wild species of animal and handle them consistently they eventually see you as a non-threat and tolerate you. If you take the same species and let’s say if you could find that exact same animal later on it would behave the exact same way it did the first time it came in contact with you. Trying to escape or defend itself! Or what have you. You guys are awesome so glad I found this pod! What you speak is what I think!! Keep it up!

keatonlearningA must listen for reptile lovers!Animals at home is a must listen for reptile and specialty pet owners! Dillon, the podcast’s host, offers consistent, very well researched, and thought provoking episodes on the state of reptile keeping and where it’s going. The show gets industry leaders and top hobbyists/scientists as guests to discuss their expertise and opinions on various animal related topics. If you’re interested in herpetology, hearing from breeding experts, and how you can improve your reptile care then check out the podcast!

boa imperaterGreat podcast, just a bit heavy though.First off, this is a great pod, and I listen often. Great knowledgeable people who care about the subjects every time. It is a little depressing lately though, so maybe try to fit in a few optimistic episodes between the dark “state of the hobby” episodes? Every episode here deserves to be listened to, and I’m not saying that it should stop, but the joy of herpetoculture isn’t quite coming across. I’m one person, take my opinion or don’t. Keep up the amazing work you do - share the important topics; just try to keep sight of what got you into this amazing hobby.

SplyceHavenPerfect!I discovered this podcast recently and it has to be my favorite exotic animal podcast BY FAR! The guests are always interesting, and I have found myself listening to episodes about a topic I wouldn't normally seek out simply because they are all so informative. If you are in any way interested in reptiles, animal conservation, exotic animal education, etc. then you have found your show!

Ben Van NestBest Reptile ChannelThis has to be the best reptile related podcast out there. Dillon does an amazing job asking interview questions, facilitating the conversation, and publishing quality content. He interviews a range of guests who all have something to contribute to the hobby, and he approaches all their interviews enthusiastically and objectively. What I love the most is seeing how Dillon is continually learning from his guests, and implementing changes in his own setups to try to improve his level of care. He is the type of keeper we need to promote in this hobby; one who is continually learning and growing personally, while sharing his journey in a relatable way so others can grow as well. This has easily become my favorite podcast and one of my favorite channels on YouTube. Thank you Dillon for your amazing work and dedication, you are a treasure to the hobby!

KabobRossOne of my favorite podcasts!Dillon’s podcast has completely changed how I view reptile ownership. His discussions on enrichment and the overall ethics of reptile keeping have me so excited for the day that I can keep reptiles again and do everything I can to replicate nature. Before listening to this podcast I thought that rack systems were the ultimate goal. After all, who wouldn’t want to see as many different species as possible? It only took me a couple episodes to have a completely radical shift in my views on that and now I’m just excited to think about what species I really want to deep dive into and provide with the absolute best environment that I can. Along with promoting exceptional and ever improving care for reptiles, he also dives into other animals as well as tying the hobby to conservation and showing the importance of all of that. If you love animals of any kind (but especially reptiles) I think you’ll have a very hard time turning this podcast off and will also be filled with a desire to improve your care in any way possible. Cant recommend this enough!

aliciahalie⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This podcast has been fantastic for learning about the newest research/ proper husbandry for reptiles. I’m a new keeper so the information I’ve absorbed have significantly benefited the way I keep and view my reptiles.

Taryn RosebudBest Podcast for reptile ethicsMost reptile podcasts you'll find will feature breeders talking to breeders. This is fine but it can lead to a complacency to the current state of the reptile industry. This is not the case for the Animals at Home podcast. Here the host discusses not just the reptile hobby but how to improve the hobby and how to be the best keeper you can be. I reccomend it 100%

ShootingRNMy absolute favorite podcastGreat host, greats guests, great conversation. This is the Joe Rogan Experience of reptiles.

Will122206Love the podcast Dillon!I came here from YouTube and just love the podcast. I just made your diy hide/basking platform and my hog island boa loves it. I am also working on a water feature for her.

ArrosPythonNeed to listen to!!!!!I got a ball python (Royal python) and was told by the pet store that a 20 gallon tank and a basking light was enough with a water dish and a hide. I sat there and watched my snake knock things over and constantly trying to get out. After listening to this podcast I’ve made serious changes to my snakes enclosure and have seen it’s irritability reduced. All thanks to this show! There is a lot of mis information out there and this show is here to help point you in the right direction! If you have a snake/reptile or plan on getting one please listen to this podcast and find the correct information.

mitchmcclineConsistently my favorite podcastThis podcast has been consistently my favorite podcast animal related or not. The quality of content continues to get better with each episode. Dylan does great work interviewing some amazing guests deep diving into a wide range of animal related topics. I have shared episodes with other animal nerds and friends who aren’t animal nerds. Overall fantastic podcast!!
-
Woma 1127Finaly Something DifferentI’ve tried listening to other reptile related podcasts. Most of them focus on ball pythons, a single species or breeding. Since I don’t breed, I lose interest quickly. I stumbled upon Animas at Home and was hooked . Dillon focuses on how we reptile keepers can improve our quality of care.... something that is desperately needed on this hobby.
-
drurWhat a refreshing take on Reptile keeping! If you want to “think outside the box” and learn to do what’s best for the animals you keep, give this podcast a try.

JesusisaguywhocutsmylawnGreat informational podcastI like turtles

This game rixAmazingI loved this podcast for a bit but the one about the “Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare” reinforced my love for this podcast.
-
DoctorVetVeterinarian ApprovedI’m an exotics veterinarian and generally avoid pet related podcasts because they are cringe inducing at best and at worst spread terrible information. I gave this podcast a chance and was surprised to find it very good. Dillon clearly knows what he is talking about and takes time to research and invites experts on for their knowledge. He cares about his pets and even if information doesn’t jive with what the pet community at large believes, he provides information on why the change is best for the animals. If all pet owners were like this it would be wonderful. Keep up the good work Dillon!

RoyArthurBlodgettEssential listening for the keeper committed to ethical husbandry! This podcast is an excellent resource for any keeper concerned with ethical animal husbandry. With a strong emphasis on responsibility and conservation, this podcast is one of the few I've encountered that willingly explores the true complexity of keeping animals within a captive setting - something which is rarely simple when pursued holistically, in my experience. In addition, Dillon and the outstanding guests consistently provide helpful insight for proper husbandry through a combination of conversation, storytelling, and informed perspective. I consider this podcast essential listening for the keeper who prioritizes animal welfare above all else!
