ameenakgMORE THAN ANOTHER FOOD PODCASTI appreciate the in-depth discussions of ingredients, culture, and genealogy of the foods! Thank you for all the research and clarity! I always enjoy each episode and eager look forward for next “class!” session! 🌷wonderful example of listening to learn— rather than fix!
-
al-exxGreatAmazing and prolific show for people who like to think about food.
-
Luca ServodioGreat pod!I love the way the hosts really get their subjects to open up. Great guest roster, and really dig the wide variety of topics.
-
Funny weird oneSo greatJust found this pod! You fun and vibrant🙏🙏
-
pas_content_001The only fnb podcast you need on your rosterThis is my favorite podcast! There is a great mix of people coming ranging from pure chef to technologist and entrepreneur. The episodes with Jean George and the ones with Leventhal are amazing ! But my all times favorites were the one on Pizza week !!! Just give it a try, and you ll be hook.

feedbackchildTwo Roads…The guests are mostly outstanding, and Aliza is an incredible interviewer, but Matt is getting tougher and tougher to listen to. He really tailors his style to each guest in an obvious, inauthentic way, and he uses soooo many filler words. Take a shot every time he says “like, definitely,” and you’ll be three sheets to the wind in a single episode.

NikkiGrngood but YIKES! Not diet culture - plz!I’ve been listening for a while, often enjoying guests I don’t know from the chef and cookbook author world. I find both Eliza and Matt to be excellent interviewers with their own styles. However - today I saw Melissa Urban (of whole30) as a guest. I immediately recoiled thinking this podcast would feature someone who so intense promoting diet culture under the “wellness” tab. I had built trust with the pod and thought maybe it would be something different…. NO. It’s an ad for whole30. I was disappointed. I am hopeful it’s a one-off and they don’t dig into this space again.

Matt RodbardJust listen!Find a name that you know, find a name that you don’t know! Push play and check it out. You might be surprised. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

TJ LilyDidn’t Realize This is a Show for NY LocalsTried for the first time today, 7/23, and couldn’t make it past the seven minute mark. Just two hosts talking about restaurants in Manhattan. Nothing useful.
-
Oh,pleaseLots of knowledge here, but…The host needs to ease up on signifying how hip he is, and rushing the conversation on to his battery of assigned questions. Loosen up a little !
-
_kvn_not very substantive or curious interviewer responsestried listening to the sandor katz episode but had to stop because the interviewer just kept (as many have said) cutting the guest short. it feels like a listening problem because the responses are usually nothing more than “oh i love how you said this” or “i love how you describe this” or “oh yes that restaurant is great”. generic responses is not generative for conversation. as opposed to exploring the responses of guests, the interviewer seems to just be running through a list of scripted questions which short circuits a lot of the possibility to go deep on a question. would suggest changing pace, slowing down, and making the conversation more organic

AliG4Hit and missGood, but too frequent and self indulgent to keep up with. It’s not necessary to release an episode every day about one cookbook. The guy from eater stating that Los Angeles people didn’t care about food in the aughts is the dumbest statement I’ve ever heard someone agree with.
-
OfficialdancemomsFun episode!I’ve been listening to this podcast for a couple of years now. I’m a fan and I don’t skip many episodes but thought I might skip this most recent with Alex Lau because I’m not really interested in photography. I’m so happy that I listened as the conversation was delightful! Alex’s story about his job interviews after college was actually so suspenseful that I almost burnt my dinner. Good luck with the Koreaworld cookbook I can’t wait to take a look at the recipes and the photos.

phgrcGreat guestsI wish Matt would let them finish their sentences instead of forever jumping in to prove his hipster creds. Eliza’s good.
-
tfkivs4@Such a great podcastLove the conversation- so good!

jlenoreFantastic podcast! This is a great podcast. The interviews are fascinating. A great mix of food, restaurants, chefs, and the geopolitical aspect of food and cultures. The hosts are wonderful interviewers and listeners. I love!
-
Kebabistan3Great guests, subpar hostLove the podcast and the guests you bring on the show! It could be even better with less interjections from Matt. Matt, we understand that you know a lot about food. However, we’re here for the guests, not the host.
-
fanofthesecretmulletPlease stop cutting people offMatt’s interviews are hard to listen to because he continually cuts people off. I’ve tried so many times to like this podcast and just can’t.
-
south philly kibbutznikStandout food podcastI love this pod. A great mix of guests with a diverse array of perspectives. Host is knowledgeable and engaging, always does his homework and asks insightful questions that elicit interesting answers.

Jen G Honoken NJI’m Hooked!Just found this podcast by listening to the Pete Wells episode, and I love it! The interviews are thoughtful and current, and provide fascinating glimpse into the food scene for a non- food industry professional- and avid home cook & cookbook lover. Highly recommend, and digging into the past episodes is going to be a real treat!
-
thisNickNickNameStop interrupting your guestsSomeone should tell Matt to stop talking over and interrupting his guests right in the middle of them making a point. It’s really annoying
-
Midnight crumpetLet the guests speakToo much interjecting from the host, Matt. Love the guests brought on, but want to be able to hear from them with less interruption. The latest interview with Pete Wells was difficult to listen to. Matt didn’t give him a chance to finish his thoughts fully.
-
Food admirerChange the last questionGreat interviews and very insightful. However, I suggest getting rid of the last question that you ask guests about their dream cookbook. It’s unnecessary and getting annoying. I’m sure most listeners don’t care. Can you please stop asking a question!?
-
Gracie ShebaLove the podcast with one suggestionI’ve been listening for about 2 years now (I think) and I love the podcast! Very interesting guests and discussions. Some I know and some I’ve never heard of and I almost always learn something new. My suggestion is to please come up with a new end of podcast question. I’ve heard the cookbook project with no budget question enough. Let’s come up with a new one please!
-
AJ MentaikoGreat interviews with the best food people! One of my favorite weekly podcasts with a unique and diverse mix of guests. The interviews are fascinating and I love how deep the host goes with these conversations. Definitely the best food pod out there. My only complaint is that I always end up making a big meal after a listen :)
-
mvelasco07Love this show!Matt and his incredibly knowledgeable guests shine the brightest lights on the food industry and those inside of it! Bold, insightful, and engaging are just a few of the words I’d use to describe the time you’ll spend with them. Thanks so much for putting out such a superb show Matt - keep up the great work!
-
14CatLGood balance of humility and foodie detailThe host, Matt's, interview style strikes a great balance between the nitty gritty details of all things food (restaurants, cookbooks, food writing) without losing sight of the bigger picture of a love of food that spans all different cultures and price points.
-
LaBk458Love the guests, hate the pretension of the hostI’ve been a long-time listener for years and absolutely love the range of guests and topics covered, but the host’s pretentious attitude is hard to swallow sometimes. We get it…you love name dropping and talking like you’re above certain things. It seems like a missed opportunity to be empathetic to different kinds of listeners. Also kind of antithetical to the idea that food knowledge should be democratized.
-
Jimmy PoilsCool guests and talksI really find that these interviews are full of life and the guests are people I want to get to know better. Love the Claire talk.
-
pajco190Too much about what Matt knows….…not enough about the guest.
-

-
JBH1616Engaging and Educational, for sureLove the deliciously wide range of topics, guests, and perspectives week after week....but (please, please, please) can Anna find a new rejoinder to use in her interviews besides (always, always, always) ‘for sure’? Sorry, but it cheapens the otherwise sophisticated conversations. Otherwise, thank you for what you do; the access you provide is appreciated.
-
ears & earsFoodie dreamLove this! Really cool insight and conversation.
