I was rewatching Marie Antoinette and wanted to find a podcast that talked about clothes in film and I found it! This is such fertile ground for talking about pop culture and what was going on at the time that movies were made by the clothes characters wear. I’m super inspired and now want to have my own Practical Magic party! I guess it’s a Libra thing ♎️.

I’ve been listening since MM was Fishnet Flix and look forward to new episode each week! Absolutely love the dynamic between Marie and Blaire, feel like I’m just hanging with my two friends when I listen. They give a whole new perspective to films when I listen — clothes really play a crucial part and sometimes you forget their power. It’s more than just “oh this outfit was so hot!” It’s also the psychological energy that clothes can convey. These two gals are my faves!

There’s just something about this one that sets it apart from everything I’ve ever heard. To hear them so inspired by the styles is always cool, but to hear the intricacies is even cooler! Who knew so much could be in an outfit! It’s giving something I didn’t know I wanted. Really brings to light how important and influential wardrobe can be. The way Blair and Marie describe it is like they found cool knickknacks and Easter eggs or sometimes like they saw a movie within the movie. The concept of this is pretty unique and they portray that to the world though these films in the best way.

Seriously we need more interviews about costume design. I loved all of them

I heard about this podcast from Tavi Gevinson’s IG when she guested on Uptown Girls, and from there I was off to the races! (archives.) Marie and Blaire have won my friend-heart in quarantine for being so insightful not just about fashion and film but also about niche LA history and gossip, where to get good ponytail extensions, just when Jeff Goldblum got to be too much, and countless other important topics. My heart sings when they diss on beige, and praise on Baby Yoda. Also their episode on my favorite movie of 2019, In Fabric, was a real treat (especially the very diplomatic description of “the mannequin scene,” I was rollin’). Thank you both for what has been a bright spot in the last several months! Also my suggestion for a future episode: The Brothers Bloom. Okay, I just listened to Marie on an episode of a podcast where she plugged her own podcast this morning and OMG I’ve already listened to 3 episodes. I’ve only listened to ones about movies I’ve watched, but it’s making me want to watch the others so I can ogle over MORE COSTUME DESIGN! Costume design is a very integral part of filmmaking, but it’s often overlooked or dismissed. I love that these ladies are teaching and preaching the importance of this aspect of film. Love it! Can’t wait to listen to more.

Heard about this through mother may I sleep with podcast and have been loving every episode. Listening to the party girl episode they convinced me to keep a pair of chunky red maryjane’s. Short and sweet episodes and they talk about movies I love.

I’ve been wanting a podcast like this for soooo long! My only complaint is that the episodes aren’t longer, I could listen to these ladies talk about clothes forever.

I am now a Fishnet Flix fiend! 😬 I heart fashion & movies, but have never watched a movie thinking, ‘what is this fashion moment telling me about the character/story?’ But now I will! So far I’ve actually seen most of the movies discussed, but it’s been so long ago I didn’t have a clear memory of any details. Don’t worry, it’s not necessary. Blaire & Marie can paint a picture where you can still ‘see’ the fashions even if you haven’t seen the movie. Plus I feel like if I want to, I can join them in watching a movie for an upcoming podcast sesh & then tuning in after, kinda like a virtual fashion/movie club. Good stuff!
