A Walk in the Woods has absolutely NOTHING to do with sailing but is pure genius! Most of his episodes have a lot to do with sailing. They’re really good too.

Not quite as funny as Bill Burr, but definitely gives the vibes.

Man, filling an hour with a 15 min of real content is such a waste of your time and the listeners. This is a constructive comment - better prep the content and talk to the point. Too much talking around doesn’t do any good to your podcast.

Raw, real and always honest. Great sailing tips and very entertaining. Matt is certainly unique.

Always entertaining

Matt is a great storyteller. Not only he knows a lot about sailing but he is a natural teacher and his explanations are clear and engaging. For someone who has accomplish that many goals, he is very humble and shares both success and failure, so we can learn from him. I deeply admire his determination and common sense, and I wait every week to listen to his new episode. My favorite podcast without doubt. His language may not be for everyone, but please listen to the man talking beyond the occasional swearing, you will learn something for him. Thanks Matt for so many hours listening to you.

Been listening for years and not missed an episode. Matt has a view of life that inspires me. I’m a solo sailor with about 3,000 miles and I learn from Matt all the time. I’ve had the privilege of talking to him on the phone once and I support his project. You should too! Matt is your reading this the freakin gremlins are now gone - what else could go wrong after the alternator, injectors, rudder, depth sounder, losing two great crew members, cut thumb and COVID?? You should be good to go now!

Matt’s stream of conscious style podcasting is right up my alley and he has a personality and delivery that is unique and inviting. It’s a sailing podcast but can run the gamut on different topics.

This sailor girl loves me a Matt Rutherford podcast. It is so refreshing that he just says anything that pops into his mind. Lots of great sailing thoughts and tips, but it’s also just generally fun and full of random interesting sidebars.

Unpretentious and candid, Matt does an amazing job of simply speaking his mind. While the substance and content shows great depth of knowledge, it’s his style that makes his podcast addictive. Thanks much!

Matt has a great can do attitude,but tends to wander. When it comes to sailing he knows his stuff!

I enjoy the unscripted approach. It feels like you are having a conversation at the bar with one of the most accomplished sailors of our time.

What’s with the potty mouth? I enjoy the subject matter but wonder why four letter words are used. I’m sure no one listens because of them but I bet some people don’t listen because of them.

Good stuff, obviously very knowledgeable. When I’m sitting at anchor and hear this I’m like, maybe it’s time to leave. Which is really good. Also congrats on discovering the truth behind wage slavery on may 9. Get outta there man! Do yer own thing!

I listened to an episode of this dingus whine about his entire crew leaving him because he mistreats them. I would rather cross the straight of Magellan tied by the balls to the bottom of a canoe than listen to another minute of this clown-drivel.

Matt is light on the editing, and perhaps maybe the filter. I’m trying to decide if I like this podcast in spite of that or because of that. He leaves no doubt that you are getting the real deal with this one.

I love this podcast. Matt is a very knowledgeable sailor from a very tough background. He lives life on his own terms and sets goals and gets after them. He tells it like it is with no sugar coating. I love how he goes off on something and starts going real deep before he realizes he has veered off course and then gets back on topic. I feel like I am right there with him while he is telling his stories. I look forward to his new episodes every time. Keep up the good work brother.

I'm a Marine, cussing doesn't phase me, but your constant use of "gd" is a no go. Sorry, I was gonna subscribe and listen to all your shows, but don't appreciate you cursing my God.

I look forward to every new podcast. I hope this podcast stays around a long time. I gotta say that I’ve listened to every episode up to June 11,2019 and so many have been informative and entertaining but the Sailing to Newport (June 11,2019) episode had me laughing throughout. If you want a polished post produced shiny pretty podcast this one’s probably not for you. If you want raw, real and unfiltered sailing talk from an accomplished ocean sailor this is your podcast. Incredible info and entertaining stories.

Unpolished rants from an accomplished sailor. I don’t agree with most of Matt’s non-sailing opinions, I find them naive. But then again, I can’t stay away. Think of the strongly opinionated, smart but uneducated bar buddy with nerves of steel. And please, do use him as your next Annapolis boat broker.

I love Matt's podcast! I listen to it without fail. I love his no-nonsense approach to the topics he discusses. And seriously, I would have loved History if Matt had been my teacher! I am always blown away by the depth of his knowledge and understanding. I could listen to his bits of historical fact endlessly. The people he interviews are interesting, and he has the experience to speak intelligently about all aspects of sailing. This podcast covers so much more than just single-handed sailing, it is suitable for a wide audience. Thanks Matt for a top-notch podcast.
