A great complement to a DBT Skills Class
S someone do has been being treated in DBT for over a year, I find this podcast extremely helpful. It goes further on the skills, helps me generalize them more and find appropriate applications of them more than just taking a DBT class has. I only wish he hadn’t stopped as there are topics I would have loved his perspective on, like opposite action.

    Bring back Nicole!
I’m so disappointed that Nicole is not present in recent episodes. Her warm intelligence and compassion are missed. She brought the show to life.

    Words of Wisdom
I’m so grateful I found this podcast with Charlie and Nicole. I’m working my way through all of them. Whether you know a lot about DBT or are new to the topic, this podcast is a gift. You can learn about DBT from Dr. Charlie Swenson, a master therapist. His conversations and role plays with Nicole enrich the learning. I especially loved the role the “session” when Nicole played a patient struggling with narcissism. Thank you for this amazing opportunity to learn and grow.

    Great podcast!
I really love Nicole’s voice and perspective on the show, my favorite episode by far is Identity Grammar. Listening made me feel seen and understood in a ways nothing else ever has.

A Wonderful Exploration of Human Experience
Stimulating & Fascinating! Charlie & Nicole explore topics that we consciously or subconsciously struggle with every day- helping to define and refine these thoughts. I come away from the episodes with a greater understanding of self and a greater understanding of those around me.

Good show but has background noise
Kept hearing someone clear their throat every few minutes which made it hard to hear the speaker

    Useful both professionally and personally
As clinician interning at a fully adherent DBT clinic, Dr. Swenson’s podcast is incredibly useful both personally and professionally. Dr. Swenson’s ability to explain DBT and the various DBT skills is second to none. He artfully takes deceptively simple skills, such as the skill of “Observation”, and explores them in great depth while weaving in personal and clinical stories that highlight the utility of the skill. He also uses humor and personal self disclosure to drive home what are at times abstract ideas and concepts. My only gripe with Dr. Swenson’s work is that there isn’t more of it! The “DVD” section of his website is empty, and I am hoping he has plans to produce recorded seminars at some point.

The best podcast delivering DBT skills for all!
I love listening to this podcast to help gain a wider understanding of DBT not only for my clients but for myself. Every once in a while there will be a DBT skills song, and those are just darling. I am not sure if there is a place where they can all be referenced, but there should be. Thanks for taking the time to enlighten us with all your knowledge Charlie!
