Sigbrit SawyerA Favorite PodcastHoney I’m Homeschooling the Kids is one of my absolute, favorite podcasts. It gives you so many takes on what education can be, shows you different ways you can live your family life with homeschooling/unschooling, and I love how Robyn interviews her guests. Robyn is especially good at asking the more difficult questions about the challenges with her guests’ subject, so we as listeners get a more realistic picture. It’s a great podcast no matter where on your homeschool/unschool journey you are. We learn new things all the time. I have listened to a lot of the episodes (not all, there are many) and several of them more than once.

pricillahoytYou’re my hype girlHi! I am brand new to unschooling, less than a week to be precise. I have you in my ear constantly. With every episode I feel more confident in my decision to unschool, which is much needed in this beginners stage.

britt jansomSo great and informative! This is my favorite homeschooling podcast, I get so excited when there’s a new episode and have been catching up on all the older ones, too. I never planned to homeschool, let alone UNschool, but it seems like the best fit for our family and your content makes me excited to take the road less traveled. Thank you for all you do!

juliedragooonGreat for secular homeschoolersWhen I first looked for homeschooling podcasts back in the day, a lot of them were made by religious families. This show was my gateway into the secular homeschooling world, and it has been fantastic! I recommend this show to any prospective homeschooler I know. Quality advice backed by research and lived experience. Love it.

CarinaPowersGreat podcast!I had the honor of being interviewed by Robyn for an episode of this podcast. Robyn has such a talent in bringing out the best in her guests She made me feel so comfortable, excited, and helped me to communicate our message and mission around changing the way kids learn to read and write. I notice this in the other episodes I have listened to too. The conversations are genuine, informative, and always based in authenticity. I recommend this podcast. Thank you, Robyn!

cgadd7Diverse PerspectivesIt's not often I get "hooked" on a podcast where I want to play every episode, but this is one of those! When I heard Robyn as a guest on another podcast, I was intrigued and looked into hers. I started from episode one and made my way through them all! I loved the diversity of perspectives she brings with her array of guests. Within that diversity, Robyn has the gift of finding that common thread of honoring children's individuality and the idea that children are capable learners outside of the constraints of institutionalized spaces and curriculum.

cassiecon40I’ve learned so much!We started homeschooling during the pandemic and never looked back. The Honey I’m homeschooling podcast has shaped every nook and cranny of our homeschool days. It has taught me so much about my kids and their learning styles and given me the confidence to completely restructure how our lives look - which can be so unsettling. But we are thriving because of it! Thanks Robin!

Txagkpat03Education for the Home Educators!I learn so much from Robyn from this podcast and across all of her platforms. The warm and knowledgeable interview format and interesting guests all help grow and expand me as a homeschooling parent. I appreciate the common struggles, insecurities and ideals we all share and listening to how each homeschooler navigates these areas is such a rich resource to learn from. Thank you, Robyn, for such important work supporting the homeschooling and unschooling community!

pbewleyA lifesaver when I started my homeschool journeyAlmost 4 years ago, I walked away from my teaching job to homeschool my kids. I had no idea what kind of homeschooler I wanted to be, so I turned to podcasts to figure it out. Honey I’m Homeschooling the Kids quickly became my absolute favorite, because it is REAL. Robyn walks the walk and interviews wonderful experts and homeschool veterans who shed light on the more challenging aspects of homeschooling. This podcast gave me the confidence boost I needed and allowed me to help my kids succeed at home!

GailEllen45Wonderful ResourceI have been devouring this podcast since discovering it a few weeks ago. I started homeschooling my kids last fall due to Covid and discovered it was an unexpectedly good fit…but there was definitely room for improvement. Now that we have decided to keep going, I have been trying to learn as much as possible and figure out how to make our learning experience the best it can be. This podcast has been beyond helpful in helping me feel less alone and has really opened my eyes to the incredible opportunities that exist for my family. Even the episodes I think won’t be relevant are extremely helpful, and I have discovered so many other amazing people/ resources through the interviews. Robyn…thank you so much!

Satah from AZThe Doula of Self-Directed LearningI recently described Robyn to a friend as the doula of self-directed learning. Just as a birth doula supports a mother by explaining all of her options surrounding labor and birth, Robyn provides options and casts vision for what a home education can be. Like a doula supports a family post-partum, Robyn walks with families to answer questions and offer resources. Her voice is one brimming with joy, and it’s contagious. She’s the voice in my ear any free moment I have— I’ve devoured nearly fifty episodes since finding her podcast four months ago. Robyn, your podcast is a true light in our family’s unschooling journey. Thank you!

alltay1313Excellent homeschool advice and perspectiveI’ve been listening to Robyn for over a year and her podcast is the only podcast I haven’t found myself bored of. She is so good at interviewing everyone in her show and isn’t afraid to show more than one style or perspective of homeschooling. While my kids are still young, she has given me the confidence that the ideas in my head for education aren’t as unusual as or difficult to implement as I thought.

Zainab RAuthentic and CaringI have been listening to Robyn’s podcast for about a year or so and I have to say that the more I listen to the episodes the more I like and respect her. Robyn goes out of her way to put together shows that are helpful and relevant. Her generosity and open heartedness come across in the way she has included her listeners to participate in her journey and growth as a parent, human and educator. It’s like having a dear friend who wants the best for you and is willing to share all that has helped her. This podcast is for any parent or even any adult who is concerned about the relationships in their lives. Thank you for doing this, Robyn!

CW7x7A Must Listen for new homeschoolersAs a new homeschooling mother of 7, who also works full-time, this podcast has changed my entire perspective on education and what “learning” looks like. Even in traditional homeschooling situation, it was difficult to balance working full-time and teaching the children with a boxed curriculum. Robyn’s episodes and guests have given me the confidence to unschool my children and know they are still learning.

@athomewithboysHomeschool BeginningsThis was the very first podcast I listened to as the ideas of homeschooling were just starting to take shape for our family. Anxious and uncertain, I searched for homeschool podcasts and found this one. Robyn’s friendly and supportive voice really paved the way for my journey. I learned so much about different styles of homeschooling, I met many other voices that I also included in my library and most of all I felt empowered and capable. Those feelings of anxiety and uncertainty were replaced by excitement! I saw how this journey could be our own and how much freedom there could be through homeschooling. Since finding this podcast, we have fully embarked into the deep waters of homeschooling, living it and loving it each day. Honey I’m homeschooling the kids is a much listen to if you are on any kind of homeschool journey.

Leafy22Thank You Robyn!!I met Robyn in Seoul, South Korea 5 years ago and she was boldly homeschooling her kids in a country and culture where this was not the norm. Now her podcast carries her courageous spirit around the world for anyone who is looking to homeschool, unschool their children. We have been homeschooling, unschooling our boys on and off from the beginning. At the time we sent them to school, it was often out of fear that were weren’t doing what everyone else was doing. Last year, we had this idea of sending our kids to school to learn French in a very prestigious school here in Korea. As it turns out, the mental stress and deep anxiety the school environment caused our first son had us reconsider, once again this notion of structured schooling. I had turned to this podcast to give me some support and strength in our decision to bring him back to homeschooling. Having Robyn’s podcast to help me follow my own instinct on what was an excellent choice for our son, made our whole family feel at ease. She is dedicated and an amazing support to all on this path! Thank you Robyn! Xoxoxo

rufocusedBad advice...I just listened to the interview on self directed learning. I think a lot of things were said that would lead children down a dangerous path. We just adopted a 12 year old who had no limits and I can tell you he did not use his unlimited screen time to learn and read when left to himself. The fear I have for completely self directed kids is that they would actually become totally selfish (thinking life is always about what they want) and unable to follow directions and persevere through challenges of life (like college?). Plus most medical studies really stress the need for limits on screen time. With our own son we really see the early lack of limits has developed a huge lack of executive function skills and a lack of self motivation to do hard things. I hope most parents are listening to the AAP over these people.
