JialpaHad to stop listeningI listened to a few of these episodes but had to unfollow due to the near-constant plugging of various products. Like every five minutes you’re hearing some kind of ad read by the host or another plug for therapy notes.

gfrtccdyhUghI keep hoping this podcast will offer something, and I’m always disappointed. She offers such minimal info here that it’s almost laughable- - okay, she’s just doing this to recruit people for her consulting biz. But wait, then she also has advertising???!?? So, this podcast is all about making money for her. Don’t be fooled, this podcast offers NOTHING for its listeners.

4ttud3Jewish episode really missed the markGlad you finally did a Jewish episode but the sponsor was money themed and the content itself was riddled with stereotypes. American Jews have stay at home moms? Why not get someone who is both Jewish and an advocate and expert? Surely someone would volunteer…
-
KiwiWithUmbrellaConcernedHow does a podcaster do a show on Jewish Therapists, issues of multiculturalism and cultural competence, and related content without anyone from The Jewish Therapist Collective? At the least, that org should be mentioned in the show and show notes, given all of their advocacy, community building, referral services, and beyond.

The Stories We Wish to TellSo much value!I'm so glad I finally started listening to Abundant Practice Podcast! It has been coming across my radar for a while, and while I've always been interested in the work she does, I've only recently started listening to the podcast. The show is full of so much value! There are a lot of similar shows out there but Allison's personality and perspective really set this show apart. Definitely check this show out!

e_riginal25Wonderful episode 201This episode couldn’t have come at a perfect time. I was just making an episode on my podcast: My Favorite Unlicensed Counselor about uplifting therapists to charge their worth and shortly after. I was recommended to check out this podcast. I am so glad that I did. You and Tiffany really looked at the colonial system in place that has created this storm of shame and guilt for Charging appropriate fees. I love that aspect. Keep going!! I’m a fan now.

Tina's Couture, LLCOMGThis episode came right on time and I’ve shared it with several people! The reasonings for not charging premium rates were beyond what I was thinking. I’ve changed my mindset about charging more years ago but this episode just explained how I was being a disservice to the very reason for charging lower back in my early career. I’ve recently decided to stop insurance so I can charge my established rate. Thank you Allison for this amazing podcast. Thank you Tiffany for giving my responses when questioned by other professionals about charging premium rates.

gabmlmhcTime TrackingThank you SO much for this podcast! You read my mind. So helpful. One of my “weakest” points as a therapist - ending sessions on time. I just never feel like it’s enough. But such an impotent boundary. Thank you!

JeniLynNot my cup of tea...I've listend to a lot of people specializing in helping entrepreneurs market themselves. There are those that are pretty unique and cutting edge, and then there are ones that are saying the same kind of reguritated material that most others are saying. Unfortunately, after listening to several episodes to "try it out", I discovered this is one of them. As a result, its a bit simplistic in advice and suggestions. I was particularly turned off when I heard one episode talking about how if you charge more, then you'll get naysayers and then kind of urging listeners to charge more and distance yourself from "naysayer" like friends. So we're all supposed to distance ourselves from people who don't quite agree with this idea that those on this podcast are promoting? It's very simplistic and, ultimately, kind of isolating which is troubling to hear from in this mental health community. What you charge is a huge topic with many aspects to consider, because the reality is that if you charge, say $250 per hour per session and only take cash paying clients, then you're only going to be getting upper middle class and wealthy individuals. As a clinician, is that the only socioeconomic status that you want to work with? If so, then cool and if not, then that's fine to... it doesn't always mean that the person that says "no" has "issues with money" or whatever story that some people make up. It's so much more complicated than that. So, I haven't necessarily cared for that kind of one-sided thinking of this podcast, so I guess I'll have to pass and hopefully I can find something else that resonates.

Heidi McBainGreat Advise! This is a great podcast for anyone starting, or thinking about starting, a private practice. Listening to Allison is like listening to your best friend or sister, she’s very personable and down-to-earth, and really knows what she’s talking about! You may not always want to listen to your best friend or sister’s advise, but on some level you know you should, the same goes for this podcast. As some of the advise might be hard to hear, Allison also brings in experts in the field to really bring home the important points. Five star podcast!
-

Tdh302deWell done!First, and maybe not as important as content, the production quality is outstanding. In my opinion, this makes a big difference. I've had to stop other podcasts part way through because the interviewer sounded like he/she was in a tin can and the interviewee sounded as if she were on a mountain top yelling to someone below. Couldn't tell you one thing I gleaned from that due to the terrible sound quality. Second, Allison showed up prepared! She knew what to ask, when to ask, and how to move with the responses. To the well intentioned interviewer in the tin can, you can't show up and ramble or giggle your way through your program if you want repeat listeners. Finally, Allison has such a practical and smooth approach that her re-framing of potential obstacles wasn't jarring or text- bookish. If you are starting a private practice, or fairly new to yours, even if you feel you are satisfied with your set-up, take an opportunity to listen to this podcast. You will not be disappointed!
