Hosts Nic and the Captain invite you to grab a chair, grab a beer and join them as they talk some true crime. This is no ordinary garage: it’s a rabbit hole of true crime, with a generous supply of alcohol and banter to lighten the load. From international atrocities to heinous stories on (US) home turf, dive head-first into a different case each week, and enjoy a cold one whilst your there. If you consider yourself an armchair detective, you’re in the right place, and you’re amongst friends. For the mystery-seeker, True Crime Garage presents an archive of missing persons, unsolved and cold cases, plus accounts of infamous serial killers and chilling solved cases. True Crime Garage has just one rule: don’t litter. TCG has Tanked - Long Time Listener
UPDATE April 2025)… Checking in. For some reason I missed listening to Nic say, “Grab a chair, grab a beer, let’s talk some true crime…” so I decided to listen for the sake of nostalgia. When “The Captain” said, “we’re like a fine wine, we’re get better with age…” or something to that effect, I must disagree. The show is okay, but the success must be attributed to a relatively low standard accepted by listeners. The guys (still) notoriously mispronounce common words and place names (simple preliminary googling can help one properly pronounce things), run laboriously long pontificating about subjects in which they clearly lack expertise. Almost five years and the basic things you’d expect to improve have not. They are complacent, oblivious to their own shortcomings as professional hosts, as many oblivious podcasters seem to be. That’s not to say that they aren’t great people, clearly the hosts care about the good in humanity, and they enjoy their beer. Maybe that’s why I still listen every few years. UPDATE (October 5, 2020)… Boooring. I wonder why I still listen. Honestly the best part of the show is the introduction, after that we are presented with extraneous dialogue, poor reading, and idiotic commentary by the captain. Most episodes are two parts now, which means more commercials and more time to listen to these guys babble. UPDATE (May 28, 2020): Most of the time I like the cut of their jib but I have to say that during the first Ahmaud Arbery episode I sat dumbfounded as I listened to the Captain ramble on with completely inaccurate information, bumbling through his opinions about the case. It was embarrassing. I was actually surprised to see TCG cover this situation so soon, and they probably shouldn't have touched it at all. Not sure if I'll listen anymore. Used to like the show but it's not as good as it once was. Previous review updates: Too many advertisements these days. Music and voices are adversely affected by over-compression. The voices sound squeezed unnatural, and music suffers from pumping. Otherwise nice tracks. UPDATE: Not digging the new dramatization approach. Hopefully the multi-part Shaker Heights thing is a one-off. The Captain is not a voice actor. If I want audio theater drama there are plenty of options out there. TCG was two guys talking about true crime. Please get back to the format for which so many people enjoy the show.

    TCG was my Gateway podcast
I had to come back and hear Nick and Captain for old times sake. I listened for years until I stopped True Crime pods all together. I became way too jumpy in the middle of the night... I still think they’re the best to do it.

My favorite podcast for a reason
Not sure what all the hate is here; this has been my favorite podcast for 2-3 years now and I always seem to be coming back to it. I love their banter as it keeps me engaged (if you don’t like a little dry humor then that’s a you issue y’all) and listening eagerly.

    If you don’t want intelligence
It may be interesting, but definitely not intelligent. Sorry guys, nothing smart or intelligent here.

    One of my favorites!
I have listened to True Crime Garage with Nic and Captain, probably from the beginning! They are a podcast I go back to time and time again and typically is the first one I’ll listen to if I have a bunch waiting for me. I really just like the overall research that gets done. I like the banter and dynamic between the two hosts. I like the quirky statements made by Captain to the point where Nic will then laugh on air, which is typically a moment I tend to laugh out loud as well. I also like how Captain is the type of person who just says what it is. Which we all need someone like that in our lives keeping it real. Thanks for being here continuously, thanks for putting out a great show!

    The absolute best
I’ve listened to this true-crime show since it began, and it’s still my favorite. Thoughtful, humorous, enlightening, and with two hosts who absolutely complement each other perfectly. Rich content without filler, and fewer of the details meant only to shock. Other pluses are the thoroughness of their original research, excellent original music, and beer ratings that make the show worth listening to even without the crimes!

    Best dudes ever!
I absolutely love these guys! I have been listening to them for 5 years now faithfully and you are literally the ONLY podcast I have on my phone! I’ve found that most true crime pods casts are boring and I can’t get through them! You are amazing and please keep up the great work and stories!!!!

It took me a few episodes to get the personalities down, but now these guys and their show are in my top 3. At least. Love the Stern influence, too. Just tremendous.

5 stars from an ex crime junkie lover!
I have been bingeing for 2 weeks straight and I love it! I was a long time fan of Crime junkie but no longer enjoy listening. This show is just what I needed. I can’t believe it took me this long to find this show- especially since I’m a fellow Ohioan!

    Best podcast ever!
I have listened to hundreds of episodes of TCG and have never been bored! The Captain and Nic know how to tell a good story, they’re appropriately funny without being silly, and they bring an expert perspective to every episode. I am pleased that they are on Patreon now, so there are more ways to support them. In the past I would send them beer money now and then, they work really hard and deserve it.

I've recently discovered this podcast, and wooooooo am I glad. This pod was recommended on The Prosecutors. I've been binging like an addict *insert Dave Chappell meme*. The chemistry between the hosts is hilarious and enjoyable. I'm a die hard Crime Junkie and Morbid fan, and I added the boys to my top! Highly recommend 🤘🏻

True Crime Garage - The Gold Standard of True Crime Podcasts
TCG isn’t just another true crime podcast—it’s a powerful force for good. The hosts, Nic & The Captain not only thoroughly convey the details of each case with precision and care but also actively contribute to making a difference in solving crimes. Their dedication to seeking justice and their ability to keep listeners engaged while respecting victims and their families is truly commendable. I’ve been a fan for almost a decade, and I listen to numerous true crime podcasts, but this is the only one I eagerly look forward to as soon as it’s released. If you’re a true crime fan, this podcast is a must-listen!

    Enjoying it 👏🏼
Didn’t love it at first but boy have these two captivated me! Good story telling and analysis. Usually easy time lines to follow. The only thing is I think a lot of these cases could use some clarity on how it ends. I think they get so caught up in the details and forget that the rest of us are just hearing these for the first time and don’t know how all these conclude. I hope that makes sense. I’ll continue to listen!

Used to be good but now money hungry
Used to bring quality solved cases, but now cases with no end, no useful info and the latest Jon Bennett series putting the first episode out for “free” and then then next two behind a paywall is an all time scummy move by the guys
  • Mirror_Sea
I hate myself anytime I listen to
It is so scummy to use the murder of jonbenet Ramsay to sell home alarms. This is the scummiest show. A bunch of women supporting two clueless men making money off of female murder victims. Disgusting.

    My favorite podcast
TCG has been my favorite podcast for over 6 years! I listen to many podcasts on a weekly basis but when I see a new TCG episode drop, I stop and listen first every time.

I left a review years ago
I left a review many years ago, but I’m updating it for a recent ad. I love this show. I’ve been listening for long that I can’t even remember how long it’s been. I will say it’s when they got up to get a beer and would still be talking. 😂 You recently had an ad for a female toy. I love that! The subject is still so taboo. It’s surprising how many people get offended by it. Females are held to such different standards. My best friend is getting a divorce. I know what I’ll be getting her as a divorce present (and what code I’ll be using). Keep it up guys!

    Love TCG
I love you guys and have been listening for years. I subscribe but still have to skip through ads. I miss the days of Stitcher where the subscription included ad free episodes. Please bring that back!

Highly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in true crime. The perfect mix of facts, fascinating storytelling/analysis, and Nick and the Captain’s unique personalities and sense of humor. My wife and I have watched every single episode. They cover a mix of unsolved murders, missing persons, and serial killers. Definitely check it out!!!
