    Too annoying lately
I’ve decide to stop listening after the last several months of hearing J only refer God in the male gender.

    ILY J
J is one of the most down to earth and open minded podcaster in the yoga space! I always appreciate the conversations he stokes and his infectious energy.

    Meh
I often listen because I want to hear what the guest has to say- but J cannot for his own life, listen. He interrupts, talks all about his "own experiences" in a condescending relational way and just doesn't seem that interested in learn what his guests are saying. I haven't listened to the episode with transphobia- probably won't, but there's so much cringe in the way he interacts. I just can't do it anymore.

    Great podcast
Love the current direction and theme of the show. J has really seemed to grow into his role as a podcast host and teacher.

    Love this show
Love this show because there is such a wide range of stimulating topics and guests. Just listened to Andrew Eppler’s show from August 6, 2023 and he seemed so wise and really went deep Into philosophy. They really got into the heart of yoga. Thank you J. Brown for keeping it real!

one of my favorite yoga podcasts
I love this podcast! As a long-time student and teacher of yoga, I appreciate the depth and breadth of what J.Brown is doing here. The intelligent conversations and J’s opening and closing comments are authentic the deeper teachings of as well as informative. I always learn something, and generally finish feeling more connected to my heart and why I love yoga.

    Insightful
Super insightful! I especially enjoy the challenging topics, as well as the unique people brought in to speak in the yoga world. A must listen show for those in the yoga community. Thank you J Brown! My only constructive feedback to you J Brown, is to refrain from continuously interrupting your hosts when they speak and are in the middle if a train of thought. It is distracting to me as a listener and can come off as disrespectful- we won’t know what the individual is trying to channel to us.

    Great chats
I really enjoy the casual yet genuinely inquisitive nature of these conversations. I think John Porcell (aka Paramananda Das) would be an amazing guest on this podcast. @thehardcoreyogi

    Honest and Vulnerable
Thank you, J. for always sharing your humility with grace. You help us feel like we’re really all on this journey together, even though we have our own paths to walk–and sometimes that path is muddy, or rocky. You listen to others perspectives with sincere openness; sometimes pushing back, sometimes holding back, and always with curiosity. Being honest about how you might have done differently next time, or in recognizing your personal flaws when it’s necessary to acknowledge. My heart goes out to your family during this time (just catching up on an episode from a few weeks back). Much love.

Anti masker and always comparing himself
Do not listen to this terrible podcast - J Brown clearly has massive insecurity complexes and cannot stay on point while interviewing his subjects but rather constantly self references and compares his own teaching to his guests who are more accomplished than he is. Additionally he is terribly trans phobic see the episode with Katchie Ananda and her hate rhetoric he gives airtime to. And to top it all off he is an anti-masker and mentions that although his children want to wear masks in public and seem to be more intelligent to public health and science than he himself is that he thinks all his kids should go to school without mascon. In a nutshell he is an insecure self referential yoga practitioner and teacher that cannot stay on point, promotes hate speech, and does not exhibit intelligence that makes this podcast worth your time listening.

OMG, J!! What a wise daughters you have. I am a long time listener and remember the Roslyn’s episode five years ago. Thank you for sharing the love. This episode just kept me smile on my face and definitely feeling warmth 🥰

    Great podcast!
I am glad this podcast is out there. The guests bring a unique view to the table, and there isn’t anything wrong with respectfully listening views one may not agree with.

    No problem
I rather enjoyed the episode with Katchie. But I’m not emotionally invested in the topic, so I was able to listen intellectually and really consider her points. Clearly the problem is that in 2021 free speech is in jeopardy—that’s the broader issue that those of us over 50 took for granted until recently. Party on J!

    Hesitant five stars
I was hesitant to give more than 3 stars because mr brown seems very agreeable with whatever guest he has on. But I was happy to hear him stand his ground. It’s funny how Jessie projects the use of fear tactics by the opposing side when fully willing to do the same. “You want bad science on your podcast?” The problem appears that the trans people who feel excluded are too emotional to have rational conversation or consider opposing views. “The world health organization agrees” the world health organization also won’t label the country of Thailand by name for fear of pissing of China because of money. Your science is bunk because it’s backed by corporate interests and until you can separate your emotion from the facts children will risk being guinea pigs for drugs people were not meant to take. I once heard someone argue that misgendering a trans person could lead them to murder someone. That’s their fault for having low EQ. And also still murder. And also a severe sign of low mental health. Suicide rates are the highest among trans people pre and post op. Another sign that trans people have mental health issues and lack mental support. If reassigning your gender doesn’t solve the problem, the depression worsens. We need to focus on supporting people emotionally and teaching coping skills in schools and identifying trauma in children. Not encouraging people to alter their biology.

Thank you, You have my support
I am the mother of a transgendered 11-year-old. I was introduced to this podcast because of that. I am also a yoga teacher of 20 years. I thought it was very enlightening to hear the podcast of an opposing opinion especially from a long time yoga teacher. I did not have to agree but it was interesting to hear the opposing side from someone who you would expect to have the same views as I do. This is very enlightening to me to also see where the legislators inMy state may be coming from. Misinformation? Absolutely! But this does not mean we cannot hear two sides of opinions and that we live in a bubble. As a host should there be possibly more education on such a sensitive topic before an interview? Yes I believe that could be helpful. However it was not done in malice and it was not done intentional as a slam against a transgender community. I believe these interviews came from a place of wanting to listen and understand and hear so that you can collect all the data from both sides. I very much appreciate what has been put out and the counter and deep consideration of listening to people who actually live in the transgender world and have real not inflammatory information to provide. Please do not ever take down any of your conversations. They are valuable. You are valuable. Thank you.

Time for me to stop listening
On this week’s episode (4/5) on gender issues, J said in the outro that he’s learned his lesson about how to handle this topic. But has he? He admitted that he had no contact with the guest beforehand, and that the guest was previously unknown to him and had sent him an email offering to come on the show. Yes, it worked out ok in this instance, but when talking about sensitive or controversial topics, the host needs to know the subject really well AND know who the guest is. J doesn’t do his homework and it didn’t sound like he vetted this guest, which could have ended poorly for him. This, plus recent episodes on journalism and 9/11 conspiracy theories make me realize it’s time for me to unsubscribe after more than 3 years.
  • grrjr88
    Nope!
    J. has no business calling himself a yoga teacher if he’s going to release such hateful, transphobic content into the world and then gaslight the people he’s harmed. There are other great yoga podcasts out there, and I’d encourage you to check them out and skip on this one.

    Saddened
As a long time listener I am disappointed and disheartened by your podcast with Katchie and your decision , despite requests from those who it most affects in the trans community, to keep it up. J your personal exploration of this issue and feeling of “consequence” is not more important than the mental health of those disenfranchised by the podcasts misinformation and our societies conditioning at large. I implore you to reconsider it’s removal and next time you choose to speak about issues you do not understand to do more research into who you will be harming in the process. Also- A suggestion: You can certainly copy past the comments into a personal diary as a reminder of your mistake rather than feeding the ignorance of the message publicly by retaining the content here.

    Disappointed.
I first met J. At a retreat center and loved his thoughtful, gentle approach. He was already being a bit controversial and making a name for himself with his somewhat self-indulgent opinions. He has had access to some amazing teachers and I used to listen to the podcast regularly. Since the Whitwell scandal I have stopped. I’m really disappointed in J.’s lack of ability to practice self-reflection or consider the impact of his podcast on the yoga community. It comes across as childish and self-involved, but this misogyny and ignorance cause real harm. There are other yoga podcasts!

Transphobia has no place in yoga
Last week’s episode is deeply problematic please do the work to understand the harm you’ve caused and how to do better as a person wielding power and privilege.

    Kachie podcast
UNBELIEVABLE, harmful, transphobic, ridiculous, political innuendos by both the guest and the host. Don’t bother watching and giving attention to this garbage. If I could give .25 of a star I would.

    UNINFORMED + HATEFUL
The episode with Katchie Ananda was grossly uninformed and harmful. First of all, Katchie, a cisgendered person, should not be the one speaking about this. Plus, she’s severely misinformed on even the base level of what it means to be trans. This is an appalling episode. Harmful to trans folks.
  • yogatravelhappyhr
    Shameful
I can’t even believe this episode aired. As a yoga teacher, you had a platform of unity and peace to uphold, and you have failed miserably. This is spreading hate and misinformation. Appalling.

Thank You for standing up for children
I loved your podcast with Katchie! I truly appreciated your courage to post this perspective. I love all people. Thank you for standing up for children who’s prefrontal cortex’s are not developed. Thank you for having the courage to stand for children! If you aren’t old enough to drive a car, vote or buy a beer then there is no way you should be old enough to change your gender. As a grown woman who at 35 made the decision to have a hysterectomy. I would now give anything to be able to have a baby with my husband. I completely regret that decision and can’t change it, it’s irreversible and there is nothing I can do about that. All perspectives deserve to heard. We don’t have to all agree. Thank you!

    Transphobic AF
the latest episode with K. Ananda was dangerous and hateful on so many levels. Please consider removing it.
  • SMAlgeo
    Anti-trans podcast
Completely appalled by the conversation with J. Brown + Katchie Ananda. Irresponsible. Harmful. Misinformed. And this type of cisgendered, privileged narrative is the type of dialogue that makes people feel it is OKAY to harm and take trans lives. Privileged. Pretentious. Hurtful. Please do better.
  • KayleighMMiller
Used to tolerate it, now it’s a hard pass
I have really struggled to forgive J Brown for his repeated failures, whether that’s in talking over his female guests, inviting conspiracy theorists to chat, spreading misinformation, and now a whole transphobic episode that...didn’t consult an actual trans person. Sometimes, It feels like he doesn’t research the topics and just lets the guests promote their agenda without useful questioning. I’m not really interested in hearing more cisgender white men in yoga talk about what they think sexual abuse is in yoga or what they think of trans health care if they’re not actually talking to the people who are being affected by these issues.
  • Emily1889
    Wildly Transphobic
The most recent episode is transphobic and disgusting. Each sentence spewed by the guest was worse than the last and wildly offensive. Not only will I not listen again but I will be advising everyone I know in the yoga space to stay far away from anything even related to this show. How wildly disappointing and dispicable.
  • Caity Cat 2020
    Uninformed bigotry
I couldn’t even finish listening to the episode with Katchie Ananda. Her completely uninformed opinions being passed off as facts were unbearable to hear. Praising herself for being a SJW before it was popular, followed by her ludicrous argument that “biological sex” is under attack and needs to be defended. How does a self-proclaimed practitioner of Yoga miss the point so completely? Where is her practice of Ahimsa? Where is her practice of Satya? Her words alone are enough to inflict significant harm on trans and non-binary people; the actions that follow them, even more so. So completely disappointed.

    Transphobic
This is a horrible pod cast spewing violence and misinformation about trans people. Do not recommend, these people do not know what yoga really is and is about. Awful.

    Hate Speech and Conspiracy Theories
All wrapped up and packaged as “spiritual” under the cover of the practice of yoga. This guy is nothing more than another cis white man spreading misinformation and hate.

    Ever wondered
Ever wondered what it would sound like if the dumbest guy in the room got to ask the questions? Ever wonder what it would sound like if the interviewer chased clout by cozying up to his interviewees without ever pushing back on outrageous statements? Ever wonder what it would sound like if an interviewer couldn’t tell the difference between experts and bullshitters and gave them equal space to spout off? That’s J Brown!

    Episode w Katchie Ananda
This podcast episode contains a transphobic, harmful perspective and conversation and should be removed. J Brown, you need some serious education; try GLAAD or GLSEN and start doing some reading. It is extremely damaging and incorrect to conflate these ideas with yoga.
  • Nutley16~
    Snooze fest
I haven’t actually been able to finish an episode, though I’ve tried a few times. I’m a huge yoga nerd, and this guy puts me to sleep. His guests are most often yoga and alt health pseudo science “gurus” who are just using their strong opinions as a way to drive their drowning businesses. It’s pretty much a desperate click bait attempt at this has-been ny teacher who is too lazy to change careers.
  • Ohana Aloha
    Very dodgy podcast
Within the yoga world J Brown is divisive to put it nicely. This guy lurches artlessly from one scandal to the next, excusing himself as he goes. Give this one a miss.
  • whothehellknows!
    Transphobic
I have struggled with J’s muddled attempts at bringing voice to marginalized communities but respected his tries even when they were messy and misguided. Unfortunately, J is elevating voices that enhance violence against trans and non-binary folx which is inherently a white supremacist viewpoint. Until he does better and speaks out against his own misogyny, unsubscribe and get your yoga elsewhere.

    Thanks J Brown!
This podcast just gets better. So much insight and thought goes into these episodes. I’m a longtime fan and it’s always nice to hear his voice. More than the run of the mill yoga blah blah blah.

Kind of a yoga bro but..
I think he’s well rounded and delicate. I was a female Ashtanga practitioner in Austin from 2014-2020 and left soon after Karen Rains me too statement. I appreciate J. giving a platform to these conversations, however messy they may be. I am weary of cancel culture for many reasons, and feel while he’s had many hiccups (unconsciously or consciously), the fact that he aired the second portion of the Karen rain interview shows he’s willing to hold HIMSELF accountable. I find this topic very fascinating, and am glad someone is doing the work. Please look up clementine morgans blog / IG for more on the dangers of identitarianism /cancel culture. I’m a victim of sexual abuse myself and don’t take this stuff lightly, but I really don’t think cancelling solves anything. There is a way to hold one accountable without cancelling, and people’s views are going to be different on things- which I see is a good thing.

I’m eagerly awaiting a new one every week.
This is the only yoga podcast I listen to each and every week! J has a wonderful podcast presence and voice and is very relatable. He doesn’t pretend that he knows everything and he’s willing to be vulnerable. I’m literally waiting the whole week for the next episode to start.
