R. NonnOutstandingJohn J. Miller is the best interviewer I’ve ever encountered as I’ve enjoyed this podcast over the years. His expertise is on display as invariably his guests will assert, “That’s a great question!” And his great questions lead to great insights regarding current books and authors. Thank you.

majorspydrWithout equal! Listen every episode!I’ve been listening every week for about three years, and I just learned how to leave a review! JJ selection of books and delightful interviews are always interesting. Also consider his other podcast “Great Books” a longer podcast of many of those classics we should never forget! Thank you for the great work, please continue! Ken Miner, Norman, Oklahoma

Michael D. McAuleyShort and SweetJohn J. Miller is a great interviewer and uses this podcast to review new book releases. His recent 12-minute interview of Russ Roberts about his book Wild Problems is a good example of a concise overview of the book and its purpose that made me want to read it.
-
xfhutfhhnMore Info, PleaseIn your episode descriptions, can’t you give us just a little more information about the book? More than just the title? Sometimes the titles barely hint at the subject of the book.
-
KGD0127Great Quick HitsI am also a big fan of Mr. Miller’s Great Books podcast. This is a different approach. Short conversations with authors of recently released books. While there is no way for a busy person to read EVERY book, you’ll find a couple of gems and definitely learn something about a wide range of issues.

Daniela C Scoggins-PlayerGreatI am always looking for a great new read, and this podcast gives me some awesome references

perkartVikingsShort overviews are a great service for those in a hurry! Thank you!
-
mako_mark10 minutesWhy are the interviews only ten minutes? This isn’t radio; it’s a podcast. Podcasts have gained popularity because time constraints were lifted and depth and understanding became the goal.
-
malfoxleyGreat show!John, host of the Bookmonger podcast, highlights all aspects of books, current events and more in this can’t miss podcast! The host and expert guests offer insightful advice and information that is helpful to anyone that listens!

Mark David HallMark David HallThis has become one of my three go-to podcasts. Excellent!
-
MlaschGreat, short intro to books soon to become “Great Books”I love that John Miller is able to give a very short introduction to a book I may want to pick up. It’s length makes it accessible in short bursts but gives enough information for me to decide whether or not to add the book to my List.
-
Robert Henry HoltzI like it, I love it, I want some more of it.Great book podcast, need more culture reviews from a conservative perspective like this. Keep up the great work!!
-
Jason NemesHelpful podcast leading to new conservative books and thoughtWonderful podcast focusing on books for the conservative thinker. As a major consumer of books who always looks for quality material to put on the ever-changing and growing reading list, I’m glad this resource finally exists. One suggestion I would make is to include a sentence that states what the book is about in the podcast description.

Treetop82Feast for ReadersAs a librarian, this is one of my favorite podcasts. The reviews are short, but packed with plenty of information for your next read. You won’t be disappointed.
-
incognito82Short, to the pointThere are so many so called "book review" podcasts out there. Most of them are people just talking about cleaning desks or other random stuff in life. Nothing wrong with that but WHAT THAT GOT TO DO WITH BOOK REVIEW?? Mr. Miller's program is short, to the point and really about a book. A real book review about actual books.
-
vicky readsInformative!I stay current on intriguing books with this concise and lively program.
-
J_____NGood, but.....the sound quality (particularly that of the guest authors) is not very good. It’s quite difficult to hear that side of the discussion.
-
Ericka SylvesterBook lovers get on this! There are not enough shorter podcasts around and this one is perfect for book lovers looking for new reads — and to get a quick understanding of what would be good to check out. One of the many outstanding podcasts from NR!
-
tenncommentatorQuick way to find out about recent releases,John Miller does a great job with quick interviews of authors. These podcasts are short and to the point. In his The Bookmonger podcast, John J. Miller interviews authors of new releases.

Daniel Berlin BrigadeGood oneI am glad to have found this . Food for thought and good reading tips. Could be an hour long as far as I am concerned.......
-
KbkjrCrisis of ResposibilityWonderful discussion with author David Bahnsen. Will read this book based on the issues surfaced in this podcast. Speaking of the same, John Miller’s two (2) podcasts Great Books and The Bookmonger are consistently superb. I encourage others to give-it-a go.
-
GameObsessionGreat Podcast!Just listened to Ep167 interview with John U Bacon about new book "The Great Halifax Explosion". Excellent! Great subject & guest but I found a new favorite interviewer! Thank you!
-
Paolo DiGiInteresting book choices, consistently excellent interviewsJohn J. Miller chooses books and authors wisely, and does a great job illuminating topics from the books from his author/guests.

Polly Sue NamiSuccinctLooking for a good non-fiction read. This podcast is a good tickler.
-
RiskmansterJohn J. Miller keeps me currentThe Bookmonger works hard at bringing all kinds of books (serious and pop) and their authors to a 10 minute conversation . He nearly always asks questions I want to ask. Listen.
-
enronalConcise, informativeMiller's interviews are concise and to the point. You'll know what you need to know about the book to decide if you want to read it, and know something about the subject and author, all in 10 minutes. Bravo.
-
Jerome DannerWish I was a Faster ReaderI really enjoy this podcast and I really enjoy John J. Miller. I have been listening for a while, since I found out about it through Ricochet. It gives quick conversations on books that sound very interesting. Unfortunately, I am a terribly slow reader, but I do get the chance to find out about new thinkers and writers through this podcast. Keep up the good work, John!
-
KsiazkiewiczConsistenly fine discussionsThe books are well-chosen, the subjects are wide-ranging and the discussions are in depth. I have listened to this podcast for a long time including in its previous existence as Between the Covers. John J. Miller is a skilled interviewer who leads authors into lively discussions of their work. I look forward to each podcast and recommend it highly.
-
Lili Kitaexcellent podcastThis is a great podcast. I really enjoyed the episode on classics and the culture wars. I'm looking forward to future episodes!
-
Spun counterguyGreat resourceMy library wishlist gets growing with nearly each interview John J. Miller does. Soon I’ll have to ask my family to find another place to live.

William PorterFast food for the mind (good fast food!)My title — "Fast food for the mind" — is meant as a simple description and as a compliment. Bookmonger host John J. Miller, author and journalist, has a gift for introducing a large topic quickly by asking his guest simple questions (for example, "Who is H.L. Mencken? When did he live? Why is he important?"); but after establishing the outlines of the topic he is always able to penetrate a little deeper. I've listened to a lot of these (mostly on the web) and today I realized I ought to listen to them more often. I recommend the podcast.
-
Sando182The Bookmonger - get it!I like to read but I don't have the time to read everything. The Bookmonger podcast quickly focuses my selections. Politics, history, sports, biography, auto-biography - John J. Miller covers them all. The podcast is a quick burst of info that's short enough to be listened to on a break and long enough to cover the subject in some depth. Highly recommended.
-
WynguardGreat podcastThe Bookmonger gives a ten minute review of new books on the market mostly from the center-right perspective. These interveiws feel longer and more indepth than ten minutes would allow John Miller is that good at giving an interview. I have many books on my reading list thanks to this podcast. It is well worth your time to listen to each episodes and discover a brand new and wonderful book to check out!
