Post Articles to Bluesky & Convince My Fiancé to Go To NY
Love the pod. Listen every week. The segments with Sal are outstanding. Definitely agree that Sal’s wife needs to make an appearance at least once on the pod. Two things: 1) can you post your Traina Thoughts articles to Bluesky? I’m off the other site and not great about going directly to SI.com. 2) can you two New Yorkers give my fiancé a sales pitch on coming to NY in late spring/early summer from Northern California. She’s never been and I’m trying to convince her. A Maureen’s mention would also be appreciated! Thanks keep doing what you’re doing.

    2nd review
Jimmy - I very much enjoy your show. I look forward to it every week. Great guests and a lot of fun. I’m not a wrestling fan but just skip through those parts. No problem. A couple of issues; 2) love the segments wi Sal. Love them. But SSL , enough with the bad language. You’re not tough. Not at all. It makes you sound bad. 2). Let Deitch have his show. When he’s on he’s constantly trying to one-up with you. Constantly dropping names. I listen to his podcast. Let him have it. Again, looking forward to the next podcast. A real great listen.

    CBS TV contract with PGA
Hey Jimmy. Love the pod. With LIV taking the best players away from the PGA tour, do you know if CBS gets any money back from the tour in their TV contract, since the best players are no longer playing on the tour (except for the majors)? Thought I'd ask since you just had Dan Rapaport on the pod.

A Dave Meltzer approved 5 star rated podcast
Big fan of the podcast, ESPECIALLY the WWE guests. I was wondering. Have you listened to the Talking Sopranos Podcast? It’s with Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa. It’s well done and as an avid fan of the Sopranos, I thought you’d enjoy it. I listen every Thursday morning as soon as the pod drops. Keep the stellar guests coming and I will continue to give 5 star reviews!! Peace and love..peace and love

    Always entertaining
Look forward to every week and banter with Sal. Can you spell Dan’s last name right in the recent show title?

    Love the pod
Sorry wanted to add 1 thing about Brady. I feel Brady isn’t just a natural on TV. Some people are not great on TV and I feel he doesn’t have the charm the other announcers have. I agree he’s overall fine but nothing great

    SI commercial. .
You were mentioned on the SI commercial. How do you not talk about that. Good job being included.

    Great Show
Jimmy. Do you ever find yourself reaching for the phone when you do the betting commercials?!?!?

    Great guests, better banter
@motioncityman Twitter Jimmy always has great guests week after week. Not a fan of wrestling but enjoyed this week with Seth Rollins. One thing that made me fall out of my chair was when Jimmy was talking to Seth about the Royal Rumble and Seth mentioned betting favorites in Vegas. I understand the whole “wrestling is fake” is played out, but please don’t tell me you can place wagers on scripted events! Keep the up the great work, a once a month all Traina Thoughts with Sal would be top notch

    Great show
I’m not into wrestling, but Triple H was great. the best guest has yet to appear-Sal’s wife. Make it happen in 2025

    Love your show
Love your show, listen religiously every week. You keep mentioning that the Super Bowl is not a real game and that the season ends with the championship games. I know that the Super Bowl is a lot of hype but once the game starts isn’t it like any other game that both teams want to win? Might as well enjoy it since it’s the last time you’ll be watching a football ball game for a while

The best sports media podcast (maybe the best podcast)
Been listening to the podcast for the last few years and I have to say it has become a real highlight of my Thursday mornings! Love how Jimmy makes the “interviews” seem more like conversations. Really likes how he has a mixer of sports media personalities, and sports media insiders. I really like the weekly segment with Sal. For a Boston sports fan the segment is the perfect taste of New York sports talk radio. My favorite part is when the guys complain about events getting in the way of their football watching. It’s gonna be content gold when Sal‘s kid start having events on Sunday afternoons in the fall (i.e dance recitals and sporting events). The complaining is gonna be off the charts and I can’t wait. Keep up the good work gentlemen

Industry Pro Loves Jimmy and Sal
I’ve been in sports television more than two decades and this is by quite a bit the best sports media podcast on the planet. I love Jimmy’s personable, affable nature and more importantly so do his A-List guests! I’m SUPER Southern and love Traina thoughts because it’s so different from anything else we get down here. Keep up the great work, Jimmy. You .. are the voice of the fan.

Conversation with Florio was good. Agree on the movie discussion with Sal - sci-fi and witch movies are awful

    Recommended books
Loved the Michael Richard’s book, just finished the Henry Winkler and starting the Ed Zwick, per episode with Shrags and Perloff.

Love the Pod. Guests are always timely and entertaining. Would love to see you have Bill Raftery on during basketball season. Thanks for carving out separate wrestling guests into their own pod - saves me the trouble of advancing through them to get to the session with Sal.

    Can’t Wait for Thursday!
Has become one of my two favorite podcasts despite the fact Jimmy and Sal love the NY teams as I am a Boston guy! Awesome guests, and Jimmy knows how to ask the right questions. Can’t wait for the Sal segment, sounds a lot like hanging out with your best friend or brothers. Keep up the awesome work!

    Media critics are my favorite
Best episodes are the ones with fellow media writers! I love the analysis of announcers analysts.

    Great Pod
One of my favorite podcasts for years, I use to complain about the wrestling but it grew on me and actually got me to start watching again after 20yrs. My favorite segment is with Sal & you can tell those 2 are real friends. As his friend can jimmy please tell Sal he’s on TELEVISION and to stop wearing the same awful grey pants and ratty sneakers on EVERY Baseball Night in NY. How is it possible to wear the same pants on EVERY SHOW!!!

Love the show. NFL Booth Question
Hey guys! It's been a while for me to write a review. Just want to say the Traina Thoughts with Sal segment is appointment listening. Sometimes I will skip the main guest, but I never miss Traina Thoughts. Question for you guys. Do you see a day where some network adds Mina Kimes to one of their booths? She does do Rams preseason games with Andrew Siciliano and Andrew Whitworth. Not exactly a fish out of water scenario. Who is going to take the plunge?
  • amyrchapman
Five stars for Jimmy and Sal
I think Sal is getting a bad rap on not liking sports. If anything, Jimmy seems to be a bit narrow with sports (on your year end pod, you said you didn’t like the Olympics, WNBA and a few others). You should absolutely go beyond NFL, College football, basketball, wrestling and, on occasion, baseball. You are such a good interviewer that I know your listeners would enjoy media figures from other sports.
  • LateNightBRi
    Loyal listener, first-time reviewer
Hi, Jimmy! I’m a loyal listener. I really enjoy the podcast, both the guest interviews & Traina Thoughts with Sal. I also love the Seinfeld, Curb & other non-sports TV references. Ian Eagle was fantastic, as always! NFL, NCAA hoops, Greg Gumbel tribute, hotel tips, TSA stories! Please don’t let a calendar year go by without Ian. Keep up the great work! Still looking to go to Maureen’s Kitchen. It’s a little far for me, but I know it’s worth it.

Phenomenal show, but one guest hasn’t been here…
Hey Jimmy love the show, but there’s one guest that I’ve never seen here that we all need…Ernie Johnson! Especially with everything happening with WBD and the licensing deal, I’d love to hear Ernie on the show. Keep up the great work, I’ll be waiting for that notification
  • mattmanfan
    Triple H was great
The interview with Triple H was great and highly recommended. I am very excited for Raw’s debut on Netflix. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing if you have anymore interviews with wrestlers or wrestling personalities coming up in the future.

    Enjoyable, entertaining and unique
Jimmy’s passion and enthusiasm for all things sports media is what makes listening to this podcast fun. He’s your average dude at home watching sports, but he happens to have a podcast to share his thoughts. He’s the sort of neighbor that you’d never want to run into on the sidewalk because he’d talk your ear off about some very important, but hilarious topic. Highly recommend and look forward to all his insights and stories in the year to come.
  • Rutgers2005
    Pronunciation
Long time listener. Really enjoy everything about the show. My only constructive criticism is that Jimmy needs to learn how to properly say the words Bonus Cash when reading his promos. It is comical how he continually says Bonush Cash as if these words were the two hardest words to pronounce in the English language. Just say it slowly - bonus and then cash. Keep up the great work Jimmy and Sal!

    Butt Smoocher
Couldn’t you have challenged Schrager for smooching Rodger’s butt as much as he did? How about mentioning Jimmy Kimmel shutting Rodgers up by threatening to sue him for false accusation?

    Great pod, but hate nepotism
Sal, please tell your honchos at WFAN, no one wants to hear Mike Francesca’s 20 year old son’s NFL picks. Are we kidding w the content?!? What 20 year-old caller would you care about hearing from their viewpoint? Your listeners don’t either.
  • Pistol from Bristol
    Loved the Sean McDonough pod.
When he did the Howard cosell imitation about his father Will and the knock down punch I almost fell off my chair! You’re on a great run with guests keep up the great work

    Excellent podcast!
The guests are great (love them all except the wrestling guys) but what really makes the podcast unique is the discussion with Sal at the end of each episode. Jimmy and Sal are the only two things I like about New York. Jimmy, thanks for the suggestion about the Michael Richards book - it’s terrific. PS: I was an extra in a bunch of Seinfeld episodes. For example, I’m the guy right next to George when he gives the Ovaltine speech instead of risk management.

    Brady & Stern
Jimmy, love the weekly pods. Just finished the episode with Bryan from the Ringer and have one comment regarding your discussion regarding Tom Brady. Your discussion mentioned that he was announcing the Super Bowl and was he ready. To me the NFC championship game is ten bigger concern since there are so many Super Bowl parties not many people have the volume up to actually listen to ye game. Secondly, with all your Stern show references, why not bring on Baba Boey, Richard &/or JD for Trania thoughts segment with Sal.

    Great Pod
Hi Jimmy - continue to enjoy the pod! Have been a listener for over four years. Just an observation but when thinking about the recent Nantz and Romo interview I felt as if Tony is sort of out to lunch. He just rambles on in into the wilderness. I don’t mind Tony but man is ever a rough 1:1 interview. I didn’t know where he was going half the time. Just sharing how I thought he came across. Jim as always is a hall of famer! Anyway, think you and Sal are on a roll! Keep up the good work. Kevin Butler. Berryville, AR

    The quest to 4.7
Great show. Sal is a true renaissance man, as he is wise on so many fronts. Jimmy should receive “bonush cash” from Underdog if he can correctly pronounce “bonus cash.”
  • MadMaxxt
    Love this show
Jimmy has the best guests and genuinely enjoy the Traina thoughts segment at the end of each show. I love the 30 minutes of wrap up Jimmy does in each interview (“Okay, last topic and I’ll get you outta here…”) How Sal’s wife puts up with him, I’ll never know. And, can I get the story behind Sal’s Falcon fandom? What an awful and miserable existence that must be. Also, will be going to NYC quite a bit in the next year, can I get the name of the places you and Sal (and/or others) love to eat?

    My Weekly Fix
I wake up Thursday mornings ready to listen to this Pod. It has come out later in the time of day recently which has thrown my listening schedule off some. Amazing the guest line up Jimmy is able to pull. Also think it’s done wonders for how I view Jim Nantz. He comes off very likable and actually seems like he would be a good hang Then the icing on the cake with Sal at the end of every episode. Jimmy and Sal, what are your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes? Thanks I’ll hang up and listen off are
  • mberman101
    Great listen
Week after week a solid podcast. Even when I’m not interested in the guest (very rare) the Sal segment makes up for it. I would listen to the Sal portion first but I like to save the best for last.

    Bring all guests/ WWE forever
Hey Jimmy and Sal, all your guests are awesome. I listen to it when I am working out/driving or unwinding for the day. Next time you are in Las Vegas visit Dom DeMarco’s, which is part of DIfara in Brooklyn. Look up Dave Portnoy Dom DeMarco’s. He gave us a 7.9 rating. The reason being is DIFara is a 19 inch and our is an 18 inch. Brent Musburger is a regular when he is in town. Jim Feist does his weekly podcast from our patio. You should give it a listen. They record on Thursdays noon Pacific. Also, if you watch VSIN on Friday nights with Matt Youmans he mentioned the our other New York style restaurant we have called Brooklyn’s best pizza and pasta. I look forward to your podcast weekly. Keep up the good work.

    Appointment Listening!
Although I live in LA, I’m in New York for work and therefore feeling inspired to review the podcast. I love how much Jimmy has raised the bar since taking it over from Richard Deitsch. Plenty of A-List guests from around the industry that we all want to hear from. And it’s impressive since we ALL (right here, right now) know he books the show himself. 😉 Love the weekly segment with Sal as well. I relate to so much of the conversation, including gambling, wives, kids, Sunday Ticket, steakhouses and more. I’ve lived in LA for 18 years but am from NJ originally, so I appreciate some of the “only in New York” stuff as well. I work at Netflix, so I’m excited to see what you guys think of our Christmas Day NFL broadcast. According to Marchand, who we know is never wrong, we’re going to have Olsen and the Eagle family in the booths. So pumped for that. Keep up the good work and have a great holiday season ahead. Sal, I hope you’re enjoying your new house in my home state.

    Question For Sal
Serious question for Sal: How does he stay completely oblivious to what’s going on in politics? As someone who also works in media I need some tips because I don’t know how to deal with the orange s-show that’s coming in the next four years. It’s going to be 20 times worse than the first time.

    Great entertainment
This show is so entertaining! The interview with James Brown was excellent. I love hearing the back stories of the folks we listen to and watch concerning sports. The Sal segment is like sitting with two friends having a beer, so fun. A suggestion, on the weeks you may have trouble finding a guest, have one of your buddies on and interview them about their sports fandom. It’s fun hearing from people from different parts of the country talk about the teams they love and especially about the teams they hate. Also their best memories about their favorite teams. Keep up the great work!

    Inaugural rating
Love the show, you and Sal never disappoint. Great run of guests lately! Always liked James Brown, glad he didn’t end up as the smoothest-talking exec at Xerox.

    5 Stars
Multiple reviewer here: Jimmy does a great job interviewing interesting guests in the sports media world, check out the James Brown interview - it was excellent. Great job Jimmy in getting him to answer the Fox question he didn’t want to address. Traina Thoughts with Sal always excellent as well! One hypothetical for Jimmy: we know Cashman is never getting fired, but in an alternate universe where his job was on the line in this series would you then be OK with a loss? Dave in the Bay Area

    You’re off on this, Sweetheart…
if you are not listening to this podcast! Must listen, especially the segments with Sal Licata! Jimmy-30 years ago, some TVs had Picture-in-Picture, where you can have a corner of the screen displaying a different channel (and you can swap back and forth). We should use the same concept, but with 2 different services. For example, you can flip between a game on Peacock and on cable. Why can that not work? Potential Bandwidth issues?
  • TheCardSaysMoops
    An underrated aspect
Aside from loving everything about the podcast — the great guests and the Sal segments, I love the intro, especially the ending of ‘Allllllllllllllll right here right now….on SI Media with Jimmy Traina.’ It’s the pause for me. Jimmy, each time you do it I think you should purposely elongate that pause a little until it gets to an absurd length. I’m weird but it cracks me up.
  • HARDCORE FOR EVER
    Love the Show
Hey Jimmy, I love your show! It’s a must listen every week no matter what guests are on except Cody Rhodes! I wish the WWE turns him heel because his character is getting old! But other than that you and Sal are the best! You both have your old men moments about life and sports! And because I’m older than both of you I know an old man moment! But I do have one beef with you Jimmy,,, stop talking bad about my LV Raiders! We have the GOAT as a part owner and we will be back! And I hope you still have your podcast or a way I can get in contact with you to say I told you so! Luv you guys!!!

    Explain wrestling to us
First off, i want you to know that i am a huge fan and your podcast is appointment listening to me. I have not missed an episode in years, and i just left a 5-star rating. You and Sal are incredibly entertaining. Based on listener comments, many of us are really put-off by your wrestling segments. Maybe i can speak for many of us; and tell you why we have this disconnect. You and Sal are a classic New Yorkers. Direct, uncompromising, unwilling to endure nonsense. You guys cover media and pop culture with a discerning eye, and seem like you do not suffer fools or foolishness. So, how can you justify the discussion of a staged, made for TV spectacle like wrestling/ right alongside legitimate sporting events. I know that you know it is fake- that is not the argument. The argument is how you can wax poetic about old matches, classic storylines, and prominent wrestlers, as though they were real events? The final straw was listing Bobby “The Brain” on the list of best analysts, alongside John Madden. You guys seem too smart, and too connected to reality, to discuss this fiction like it is reality. Unless you are going to list Apollo Creed as a top boxer or Crash Davis as your favorite catcher, maybe we should stick to reality on the podcast. I do love you guys, so do not consider this an attack. But maybe this summarizes some of the anti-wrestling sentiment that is so prominent in the reviews.
