WfortizWhat we need right now! From the first few seconds first episode I listened to, I had already learned something. "Food desert" was a term I had heard of, but wasn't even aware of the threat it poses to women in the U.S. today. I don't ever think about these issues on the day to day, but if this podcast can help to make me both more aware and accountable as a citizen, it's something I want to definitely hear more of!

rstauffInformative & Engaging ListenIt's rare to see a podcast that can tackle various social issues without things getting lost in the shuffle or info overload--The Fifty One's emphasis on highlighting issues on a local level is one of the rare gems where you feel like you're getting the whole picture AND the local solutions. I just finished the episode on The Role of Ethnic Markets & Bodegas and felt like I walked away with a foundation of knowledge that I definitely didn't have before...I had no idea how much representation played a role in food solutions. It's also worth noting that the podcast is super easy to listen to. Great mix of voices and perspectives, and engaging the entire time. The Fifty One gets you noticing things in your community you might not have before, and I can't wait to keep listening. Bravo for highlighting local reporters and turning this into such a solution-focused space!
