    Too repetitive
The same audio clips used over and over to stretch out the story to 3x the needed time. This could be so much better by not being so redundant. When you same the same thing over and over it really takes away from the story. There is no need to keep saying the same thing over and over. See. I said the same in several ways

    Music!!!
Y’all are doing too much with the music. It’s every episode. It’s awful and it distracts from the story. Gives me a headache. I turned off this latest episode (probably the last one I try to listen to) 6 mins in because the music was just so obnoxious.

    Love it!
One of my new favs! Great story telling and music! I see lots of negative comments about the music but I thought the exact opposite! It makes me feel like I’m listening to a documentary / I can picture it being on tv as I listen! New fav series !

    Please Work On Your Audio
The music and sound effects are very disruptive and overdone. Please work on this.

    What is this music?
The show is very interesting but the music is distractingly awful. I feel like I’ve accidentally streamed some trash dating show.

    Cut the music/sound effects
The information is good but the podcast would be SO much better without the pauses/interruptions of music and sound effects, which are SO irritating.

    Terrible background Music
Just let the people talk without annoying background music.

Good stories but hard to hear
The stories are good but it is very difficult to hear the story because of the background noise and the dramatic loud sounds.

    Music is such a distraction
Stories are good, however the music choices seem to be so poor. Music matters it sets a mood or turns you off. The music choices do not enhance your stories it detracts from them.

    Less Background Music
Please for the Dorms episodes, have less background music, it isn’t blended well and feels chaotic and constant. It takes away from the story.

    Death in Dorms
You should look into the case from 2001 from the University of Portland

    Music is awful
Sorry but it’s not tolerable in the least. Not every second of silence needs to be filled with extra loud music or beat.

    Painful to listen to…
The terrible loud, repetitive music is awful. You can barely hear the people talking. Speaking of people, the way they have one person narrated one sentence only and then switch to another person is super annoying. Easier just google the story and get it over with. Save an hour of your life.

    Fire the audio editor
I love 20/20, I have grown up watching the show and falling asleep to it since I was a child. I have to agree with some of the other comments on the reviews, interruptions with the loud, jarring, pop music does not contribute well, especially when people are talking about terrible times in their lives. It almost seems to be making fun of them or dismissing or invalidating their Experiences when you chop in a silly pop song. Also, the cutting and chopping of the interviews can make the stories hard to follow. It seems like so many of the interviews have been chopped up and edited, just to be mixed up with one another, and that can be hard to follow. Otherwise, the stories themselves are very good, the production quality of the editing could use some renovations.

    Music is too dramatic
I love this show and the way stories are told, but the knocking sounds in the music are jarring and need to go away or be edited out! It’s terrible and hard to listen to.

Am I listening to a demo tape?
Love this pod cast (I believe it’s just the audio from the tv eps), but the music/songs they use are really cringe and it’s just too much. Am I listen to a demo tape, am I watching MTV real world? No. We’re all just trying to chill and listen to a story and every 2 seconds there’s a different obnoxious low budget SoundCloud song. Enough with the music. It’s often tone def to the actual story and goes on for way to long.

Death in the Dorms sn2 ep1
The music and sounds are so over the top. They play a rap song for like 2 whole minutes for who knows the reason. They mention temple university and then bam… rap song

    Very professional
I’m always happy to have a 2020 to listen to and most of them pass through one year and go out the other. That’s what happens when you listen to too much true crime. Many of the cases are repetitive but the series on Karen Silkwood that I just finished today was fabulous. Thank you folks for touching on a case from my past that’s always been of interest to me and you did such a great job! Five stars two thumbs up and consider me a follower for life.

    So repetitive
The producers take 15 minutes of content and stretch it out into 90 minutes by repeating the same thing over and over and over. It’s insulting to the listeners’ intelligence.

    Too much background noise
The stories are great but the background noise is so distracting and frustrating. Hard to listen to. Can’t understand why it would be produced this way. I wrote this comment months ago and came back to experience the same thing and see similar frustrations from other listeners. I am so curious why there is such an unwillingness to change it?

    Longtime favorite
This is the 20/20 I know and love. Same great show from TV but in podcast format. Generally, I use these episodes as learning experiences to teach me what not to do…. Be specially aware, don’t take unnecessary risks driving to remote places without people knowing where you are, etc. That said - you can’t convict someone based on them deleting calls and texts because I have ALWAYS done that. I keep ZERO call logs and only texts to/from people I care about.

LOVE THIS PODCAST AND THEIR YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
Hmmm…I am really confused by the ridiculous negative and petty comments by other listeners. The sound? I found it perfect for the background of the story. The narrator? Great narration. The voices are articulate and NOT grating and annoying like some podcasts can be ! The true stories/investigation? Thorough. Poignant. Interesting and informative. And I have ADHD and need stories to be precise , compartmentalized, easy for mental digesting. And this podcast and their stories do just that. Having music in the background is like showing the ambience not telling. In other words, flowery music on a criminal story won’t cut it. Keep up this great podcast 20/20. You obviously know what you’re doing because you’ve been serving our community with the best journalism for years. 👌🏻😊👏🏻

    For the record
I’m not saying she did or didn’t but on the recent Fire and Ice episode I just want to say that I’m OCD and that includes cleaning up my phone. There is an age of ppl that grew up before cells and computers and still think that too many messages, calls, apps and etc will bog down our phone. I’m notorious for deleting almost all history logs. My husband makes fun of me for my fear of apps. I’m trying to get better and realize I don’t have to clean up the phone so much but I can say there are some of us that do that because I do and I have nothing at all to hide.

    Sloppy made for tv podcasr
As interesting as the crime stories themselves can be, you manage to destroy them with the constant sound effects..Don’t you know just how annoying these sound effects and other emotive interruptions are? FYI, I am NOT watching tv, I am listening to a podcast. While there are many bad podcasts, for other reasons, this is yours. It is probably due to the fact that you don’t want to hire and pay humans to remake these narratives as worthwhile podcasts.

    Inside the Midnight Order-
I listened to the beginning of Inside the midnight order- episode one, and it was unbearable to listen to. Murder should never be discussed in a manner using the “up speak” and vocal fry favored by bored and vapid teenagers. Discussing the murders of fellow human beings is serious business. I was cringing listening to this.

    Can the Previews be removed!
I know the pod casts are straight from the TV show and the previews are played prior to commercials but for pod casts, it does not make sense to hear the preview since the commercials on pod cast are very short and in some cases the story continues right after the preview which does not make any sense and is confusing the story. And I agree with other comments about the background musics. This is a true crime story and not some fictional story to entertain people for enjoyment. Should really cut back on the background music so that we can hear the real people talking about their story. The sound effects are so distracting!

    No editing for Podcast listeners
I agree with other reviews, about the clear sound of text messages being received but no narration for the podcast. There is no change from the TV broadcast to the podcast for the non verbal communication thats done for TV. Some is understandable but leaving out an entire text conversation that take up 2 mins in a pod feels neglectful.

Some episodes are called “From the Vault”. Which means older episodes are reruns.
  • Melidawna
    Lazy editing
It’s obvious you don’t put any effort into modifying these stories for podcasts. I’m listening to the familiar sound of text messages popping onto a screen, but 2020 didn’t bother to narrate them for listeners. And 100% agreement on all the comments about stale, repeated content.
