There are a lot of fads, blogs and strong opinions, but then there’s SCIENCE. Science Vs is the show from Gimlet that finds out what’s fact, what’s not, and what’s somewhere in between. We do the hard work of sifting through all the science so you don't have to and cover everything from 5G and Pandemics, to Vaping and Fasting Diets.

    Good subject matter
Too bad they injected subjective facts on certain subjects instead of staying with neutral objective facts

    Interesting subjects, annoying delivery
I really wanted to love this podcast because the topics are genuinely interesting and often very well-researched. However, one of the hosts has an overly playful tone that I found really distracting. It feels like she’s smirking or on the verge of laughter almost constantly, even when the subject matter doesn’t call for it. I usually enjoy a lighthearted pod, this delivery came off as forced and took away from the discussions. it became too annoying for me to m enjoy.

    Here for all the science
I’m a true crime podcast kinda girl. But I stumbled across this gem and am now obsessed. I’ve been bingeing all the episodes and I’m fascinated. I first listened to the nutrition and fitness episodes to see if they aligned with what I already knew to be true. And when they did I was hooked. I love Wendy and her crew. They make it so fun. Science Vs is definitely up there with my favorite podcasts and I recommend it to everyone.

    Episode on menopause
Thanks, you answered all my questions :) I am a scientist by training and found your podcast by accident. I’ve only heard this episode but it won’t be the last. It was a great listen, super informative, and covered a lot of info in a concise and palatable way. Best of all, it answered the questions I had about HRT and those that came up as I listened. Really appreciated.

    Menopause episode
Ok there’s a lot missing here, oral vs transdermal estrogen a huge thing. Maybe get one of the it’s the forefront of this new way of thinking about menopause, peri and post like Dr Mary Clair Haver. Also menopause affects our brains more than our reproductive organs invite Dr Lisa Mosconi, author of The Menopause Brain on. So much was left out!!! Also you had an researcher with that old study on , not exactly balanced was it.

    Delightful & Informative
Regardless of the subject matter, I always come away from listening to this podcast feeling more informed, happier, and with renewed faith in the sanity of the world, knowing there are reasonable people willing to dedicate their time to the pursuit of scientific rigor. Thanks Science Vs. Team! You make the world a better place.

Good production value …. Meh.. on the Science
Only listened to the one episode. about keto diets. production value was very good. Main hosts were very good. Good attitude nice to listen to, some cheesy humor, but not too bad. Was really disappointed about the lack of science. at the end, they mentioned there’s a whole ton of citations however, there’s very little mention of the scientific data in them. most of the episode cited some anecdotal evidence and had some very high-level (50,000 ft view type) interviews with a few specialists. wish they had spent more time summarizing the scientific data that they had read and the evidence that supports it. I don’t mean to be too hard on the show. It was very good entertainment and nice to listen to, but just not very scientific.

    No longer good
The host is annoying and there is hardly any science discussed. You can do better

    Not political
I like that they use tools and strategies to find good evidence and that the show does not get political, just sticks to the facts

    Ugh
Annoying and flippant. Light on science, heavy on dodgy humor. Microplastics episode drove me over the edge and so I’m leaving this review and unsubscribing.

    What happened to your science?
I just listened to the David vs Goliath story and wonder if this pod cast is changing form a science based, independent analysis show to an anecdotal story telling show. Did I miss the notice of change? This story had no science or analysis at all. It wasn’t even impartial. I sincerely hope that you haven’t ended what was a fantastic show that exquisitely displayed the value of scientific research to analyze real world problems. Please keep this show going and start a separate story telling podcast. To do otherwise would be a loss for us all.

    Best writing!
This podcast stands above the crowd of science podcasts, due to its engaging writing, it feels like a story that gives you answers without being dragged out. Every episode is concise and fun. The episode with Huberman is a must listen for any fan of science podcasts.

Science with a twist of fun
The team does a great job of summarizing dozens of citations and boiling it down to the concentrated bits. It’s a podcast that looks at big picture science with high production quality. I do wish there was more time for a deeper delve but I know you’d lose your audience if the episode goes on too long. But lately the podcast has been taking a weird turn. I have absolutely no idea what the story about the Puerto Ricans advocating for healthcare in the Bronx had anything to do with science. It wasn’t a bad story, but it just does not belong on this podcast.

    No more social media
I got rid of traditional social media a while back which was great, but it took me a while to realize that Reddit was just as bad. Once I got rid of that I have been so much calmer about the world in general. There is a lot of content on there that makes you afraid of or mad at the world. Anyways, since I can’t respond to your request via social, here it is in a review. I fill my time with NYT games like Wordle and Spelling Bee and I guess crossword if I have to. It fills the time, is fairly mindless, and you can’t really play it infinitely like many phone games so you don’t really get addicted. Anyways that my 2 cents, thanks for the episode!

    Epic Podcast
This is an awesome podcast! I’ve been listening for a little while now and I really enjoy exploring different topics through a sciency lens. Plus the hosts are funny and awesome!
  • Dankinshane
    It’s fallen off.
Show used to be better. Now it feels like they are just covering topic in a way that reinforce their world views rather than having a meaningful exploration of the subject matter, which is a bummer. It used to be much more objective.

    Get to the point
Now I remember why I stopped listening to this podcast. While the topics are interesting, and the podcast could be very good, most of the show consists of the hosts laughing at themselves (it’s not funny) and behaving like first graders if anything remotely related to sex or digestion. I mean come on, grow up.

Amazing! But please stop the puns
This podcast is fantastic. Each topic is really well researched and communicated and the hosts are super fun but for the love of science Wendy please stop the puns, my body is cringing beyond repair. Love y'all!

    Not a science show
This is more of a cute show where two girls talk about funny science subjects. Nothing really to learn here.
  • Mc.greatlife
    Great for science nerds!
I love the fun Wendy and hosts bring to the interesting topics they discuss. It’s great because I don’t have time to read the primary source info but still want a thoughtful discussion of topics! Keep it up!

    Sounds very scripted
Sounds very scripted. Like they were given a skit or script to read. Very one sided and not informative at all.
  • angrylf
This show is about politics - not science
This panders to a mix of ideologies and politics - it doesn’t reveal scientific fact to settle disputes. Thinking people will see through it quite quickly.
  • Sir not you
Some fun episodes, but not objective anymore
When I first started I loved this show. I learned a lot and it seemed like the hosts also did. But the last 2 seasons it mainly just been them giving what they have predefined as “science” there is no more exploration. Just one sided justification of there preexisting beliefs. Still has some fun episodes especially earlier season.
  • Listener from US
    Used to follow this poscast
I really liked this podcast, but new season released in 2024, especially episodes from mid-March to May are awful. The funniest joke was waste of time and heartbreak was repetitive. @Wendy, you don’t need to get the hosts of popular podcasts to co-host with you. You were on a right track. Take it back to the glory days! The host’s fake and hysteric laughs are insufferable!
  • Rob cantor
    Good but not great
I think this show is good but has a few flaws but overall the flaws only somewhat take away from my experience
  • charliep88$
    Off balance
What happened to investigating topics using science and objectivity? The trans kids health episode did not feel that way, which was disappointing. Beliefs are critically important & should be respected, but they have their place.
  • EddyGann
    A “Science” Podcast
I actually have liked quite a few episodes from this podcast. However, I do question their legitimacy, because there have been a couple episodes where clear political biases have influenced how they discuss topics. You can’t claim to be completely objective and only focused on scientific fact, and then use political talking points in your discussions. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Update old shows with new scientific evidence.
Especially, the COVID virus lab leak theory episode. Reduce laughing too much on the show when presenting critical scientific information . Trying to be silly sometimes isn’t funny. However, I like the show and it’s better than grumpy Science Friday .
  • KingCyclonus
    Love This!
I absolutely love this podcast! It’s not a pop science show, but instead actually speaks with researchers and delves into actual science. It’s also fun to hear how many citations they use in each episode.
  • FTGabumon
Used to be a balanced show.
The show used to be good at showing both sides of an issue. However, after their episode on Trans-children and the Cass Report they decided to favor the ‘Pro-Gender-Affirming’ side of the issue, and mis-represent some of the finer and far reaching points of the Cass Report. Not only did they not cover the origins of why the Cass report came about (because of Tavistock Clinic scandal), but also voluntary choose to not cover some of the larger and more profound issues revealed in the report. Such as of the sources of the recent rise of Gender Dysmorphia issues in children, especially teen girls. The fact the rates of suicide with trans-gender issue tend to include comorbidity with other mental health issues. And the fact that many teenage kids who identify as transgender tend to grow out of it as they reach adult hood and just accept they are only same-sex attracted and just gender-non-conforming. In all the episode was a disappointment. I have unsubscribed from the podcast because the lack journalistic integrity in covering this topic makes me doubtful the podcast is worth continuing remaining staying subscribed too.

Entertaining show, but listen with skepticism as you should any show
I’ve listened to this show off and on from the beginning. I think Wendy is an entertaining and good host. The angelic sound of heaven at the beginning of the show that science is the real arbiter of truth is kind of funny. The problem is I think Wendy and her team really think they are objectively revealing scientific truths to the listener. They are journalists providing a few studies and interviews with selected scientists/researchers to convey a particular message. Early in the podcast they seemed to be making more of a good faith effort to objectively share complex information. Lately the tone has gotten much more casual and the messages more ideological than “following the data”. One of my favorite moments from the podcast reveals human bias and contradicts the idea they are presenting truth free of human emotion and bias. Wendy is interviewing Andrew Huberman and flexing on him that her scientific standards are higher than his because she doesn’t support taking vitamin supplements and he does. He flexes back that he has a larger audience than she does. Huberman’s advocacy of supplements can and should be challenged, but it should be done with facts and studies instead of an ego based flex, and if she really wants to make a difference and make him reconsider his opinions, the facts and studies would be presented in a fair manner. Attacking someone’s ego or playing “gotcha” will only entrench the other in their ideas. Pretty good show that has gone downhill. Worth a listen but with a very healthy dose of skepticism.
  • WSJreaderinFL
    Woke?
The trans episode was a bit much for me. Based on how the host and the guests talked I found it hard to believe that they were being objective researches although I know very little regarding to subject.
  • 12yoyo
    Now with more bias!
I’ve listened to this for many years. Used to be 5 stars but now just 2. This used to be a really good podcast but they’ve lost a lot of their unbiased approach that made the show so good for so long. It is pretty obvious now that for many topics they have made up their mind what outcome to report before they even start the research. They pick only studies/results that back their opinion. Recent example is them sighting a study that followed mental health of kids for 3 MONTHS as proof of “their side” but ignored the studies that followed kids for 3+ YEARS. If an episode is not too political or divisive then they seem to “stick to the facts” and those are ok to listen to.
  • Teamhill1
    Missed a key point
I just listened to the most recent podcast which was about revisiting research related to treating trans kids. I think the authors did an admirable job at revisiting but made a logical mistake by asserting, “the conclusions must be true because the data shows this.” There are many problems with this from a scientific rational point of view. For example, the data could be too narrow for generalized conclusions or that in different experimental circumstances the data would be repeatable let alone result in the same conclusions. I think the authors failed to follow the core tenant of experimental research, falsifiability. This is the construct that theories can only be proven false, not true. And, those theories not able to be proven false are not scientific.
  • UofC Optimistic Sceptic
    Trans Kids
Amazing how the host and guests have such confidence that kids can actually make a decision on what they really want in life Well the data they mentioned on adults transitioning may have some validity for adults, it is clear that kids have no concept of what they’re doing and should not be allowed to make permanent life altering decisions. The woke politics (lab leak, transitioning, existential climate, etc) is ruining the show
  • Create nickname (silly)
    Not objective science
I have lost trust in the show. Anyone who has actually looked at the Cass report will see just how biased and dishonest the show has become. Please do look for yourself. They willfully misrepresent the Cass report and rely on studies that the report found were low quality. Google the show and you’ll find the same criticism of the show’s bias spanning many years. The fact that the show thought they could discredit the Cass Report—a review that was conducted over 4 years with great academic integrity—in one 40 min podcast tells you that the people behind Science Vs are not serious people.
  • NYinvestor22
    Trans episode is laughable
They REALLY want your kid to use puberty blockers. So weird. The hosts have no interest in asking why so many kids are suddenly trans. Gee, could it be a trend? Gosh, does TikTok influence young people? No way. This is not a serious podcast but I listen in order to understand how the left think. Its just upsetting that even when it comes to kids, the priority of these hosts is the leftist agenda, not a kids' wellbeing. There are trans kids, obviously. But to choose to look the other way and pretend they are all trans, and its definitely not a trend, social media and lonliness doesnt play a part, and yes we should pump them with experimental drugs -- is so wrong.

    Sex survey 😕
I love your show. I could listen to you read the phone book but I don’t have to cuz you have amazing science stuff to talk about. So when you said you needed help with a survey I thought I would do my part. But anal sex? Seriously?!? Nothing but? No pun intended. Love ya Wendy but yuk on the survey. Five stars though cuz the show is great and I don’t want to mess up any algorithms ❤️🦎🎉
