Jaded and cynical, the show has lost
The hosts clearly despise tech and founders that have reached any meaningful scale. Sad, because this used to be a great pod.

The show has lost its way :(
I’ve been listening to Equity for a very long time. Always been a fan. I don’t always agree with the opinions, and that’s okay. The reporting was solid and the show was cohesive. However, the show has lost its way. It was always very unique, but now it mirrors many other podcast in its ratio of cultural commentary vs the startup/VC ecosystem. Also, the new host is smart and knows her stuff. No question. But the podcast feels less cohesive now and more about long rambles. It’s hard to describe. Whereas before it was more about overhearing two people debate trends, now it’s like listening to a committee that forgot to bring an agenda.

When keeping it real actually goes well
I am a 5 year listener and love how informative and entertaining the show is . Alex and Marianne are a wonderful dynamic. Keep it going!

Great podcast - I listen weekly
Great info and depth of topics. Also love the interaction between the hosts.

    Great show!
Been listening to the show for years and I always found each episode very rich in content and interesting.
  • Not exactly happy
    Good and bad
If I was rating the reporting and insight, would give it five stars. Alex calling Senator Cotton racist, well… Alex’s self righteous opinion comes across as sophomoric and frankly idiotic. As someone who spent a long time in Asia, he and the podcast would be best served to keep his focus on things he knows.

    So energetic!
A must-listen if you want to get caught up on startup news. The energy Alex and Mary Ann bring to the show is so refreshing and conversational. You can tell these hosts really care about the stories they cover!

    Way to political
He actually thinks we will be under water in 20 years. Delusional…..will be blocking.

“Why can’t we just say ‘men are the problem’”? Episode 639, 25:30 - Natasha mascarenhas Basically sums up this podcast

    Could be better
Alex and Mary Ann are knowledgeable and insightful, I’d love a show hosted by the two of them. Natasha is… very happy. She seems nice, and like she’s probably fun at parties. It certainly seems she’s beloved from all the glowing reviews here, so I must be the outlier; maybe you’ll love her. But - my god - I find her so painful to listen to. She doesn’t seem to have any depth of understanding of the subjects she reports on, and a lack of life experience shows in her many cringy, clueless comments and observations. Her interviews are filled with base questions and meaningless responses to the interviewee. And she speaks at breakneck speed! It sounds like she took 30mg of instant release Adderall and drank two cups of coffee 20min before recording - how has no one given her the feedback to slow down? Any episode that features Natasha heavily I’ve started to skip. I can’t tell if her affect is due to a lack of confidence or the result of a sheltered, naive existence. Clearly I’m in the minority here, and I’m glad so many people enjoy the show as-is. But I’m an adult who wants to be more informed about the tech industry, and that does not happen when she contributes.

    Skip it
Whiny voices, specious but not helpful. Listened once on a recommendation all the way through and it didn’t improve

    Solid podcast
Good crew, I actually LOL at Alex’s jokes on occasion. Generally informative content that has a good level of detail on actual numbers / datapoints. Worth listening for people in the startup world. As others have noted, the virtue-signaling gets quite annoying at times. I don’t mind the occasional opinion and I often agree, but it gets pretty cringey at times.

    Making the markets fun
I love the hosts’ energy. I never miss an episode so I can stay up to date on all the venture news.

    A Weekly Highlight
I have been a loyal listener from way back in the beginning! The hosts have changed but this current lineup is 💯! Thank you Alex, Natasha, and Mary Ann for the quality, quippy, and most importantly, thoughtful conversation each week. It’s a highlight in my podcast roster. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Loving this show!
Fintech and AI are moving at the speed of light. This show has been a great way to stay on top of both. Keep it up!

THE pod for founders & startups
Love the Equity pod! Hosts are hilarious. Episodes are always insightful. It’s the only podcast I actually listen to from start to finish.

The only way to stay up to day on the worlds of VC, startups and tech
Alex, Natasha and Mary Ann provide insightful and digestible updates on what is happening in the worlds of VCs, startups and technology. A must listen!

    Best tech news podcast around
Equity is the best way to consume the main tech stories throughout the week.
  • drewolanoff
    I’ve been listening for years.
Even though I used to work with the folks on this show, I’ve always been a fan of the program. The format has evolved and the information they jam into each installment is a daily must-listen. I rely on smart people to make me feel less not smart.

Highly recommend!
  • Mshag19
    Refreshingly diverse voices and perspectives
It’s pretty easy to find podcasts on these topics where everyone speaks from inside the epicenter of the tiniest bubble, but this group is thoughtful in topics and intentional in design to ensure that doesn’t happen. Huge evolution from early TC and so appreciated.

Equity is smart AND a good time
Big fan of the show. Alex is hilarious and brings the energy and entertainment to each show. He’s why I started to listen but then it was because of the content, the whole team’s timely insights and banter. Alex is still superb too :) 5 out of 5 stars!
  • Smoov.App
    Such a Smoov Pod
Hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable resource when it comes to new technology and startups than the those at the backbone of techcrunch. Also Alex tweeted we’d get a shoutout on the pod for leaving a review… Smoov is an app for couples to automatically split and manage their shared expenses. Split expenses. Share life. www.smoov.app
  • savram
Alex said he would give me a shoutout
In all seriousness, a fantastic podcast you should listen to if you are in the startup world. The hosts are fantastic and the conversion is refreshing and educational in such a great way. This and how I built this by Guy Raz are probably my two favorite podcasts.

Your ears and mind will never be the same - in the best way
Let’s start with the fact that this podcast is hosted by the incredible Alex Wilhelm, Natasha Mascarenhas, and Mary Ann Azevedo. Then add in other TC reporters drop in to chat and weigh in on the latest tech and startups news…podcast gold. Each episode is unique and thought-provoking. We live at the intersection of tech, startups and VC. It’s exciting and challenging and this team are taking us on a clever, creative and captivating ride. Lets’s go!

The only tech podcast I listen to
Love this show. I have very low tolerance for industry news, but I keep coming back to Equity. They manage just the right balance of detail and big-picture, context without too much jargon, and excitement with plenty of skepticism — including about the strange era of VC post-capitalism we live in. Keep it up!
  • Palmaceous81
    Okay, so I’m biased
I’m super biased, because these lovely humans are my colleagues, but hear me out here. Equity is lively, fun, irreverent and informative, and usually reasonably brief. I love letting Alex, Mary Ann and Natasha drive me to work by whispering their sweet somethings into my ear holes. Also, Natasha said she’d give a shout-out on the podcast, so… How could I not leave a review?
  • ajcampbell27
Great way to stay up to date on startup news!
I find this podcast so helpful to keep me up to speed on all things tech startups which is essential for my role in PR. Plus, the hosts make me laugh and they bring some brightness even when there’s less than bright news going on. 10/10 recommend!
  • Srivarre
    EQUITY TEAM IS THE BEST!!
I started listening to Equity about a year ago once I got serious about pivoting into a VC role. Beyond covering major tech
  • thomasperacchio
    Extremely superficial/uninformed analysis
There are much better podcasts on technology companies’ finances/strategies from the Verge, the Economist, or other news outlets
  • obacker19
    Insightful, Entertaining and Energizing! 🙌
Must listen if you live, work or play in startup land! Mary Ann, Natasha and the entire team do an incredible job curating the conversations that matter in today’s funding landscape with nuance, research and the kind of depth that only comes from truly engaging with the ecosystem they’re chronicling. Highly recommend listening and subscribing!

Way over their skis on politics.
This show is getting way too political and is incredibly uncharitable to anyone who holds an opposing view. Though I agree on some things and disagree on others, I don’t appreciate their tone towards those who oppose their personal political views. I really used to enjoy this show, but I think I’m done.
  • RSJ86
    Difficult to understand
This pod is full of great content. The hosts have great insights and know what they’re talking about but the male host talks so fast / mumbles so much that it’s incredibly hard to comprehend what he’s saying half the time, even at .8x
  • Nombre de Nombres
Off to stick my head in a barrel full of lava.
This show has completely lost touch with its purpose and stated goals. Two weeks of twitter drama about Elon buying with zero reporting of the actual facts of the deal and patent misinformation from Amanda. Not to mention… twitter is (was) a public company, so why is Equity even covering this information?! Get back in your lane team. Therefore, in Alex’s words, I’m off to stick my head in a barrel of lava, because I’m done entertaining morons.
  • djkezako
Good show but PLEASE don’t speak so fast!
People don’t pay attention to high speed ramble. Thanks for having a full sound. Most of everyone else is too soft !
  • jlkinsel
    Great show
Love this show - love the humor and snark that as an industry we usually can’t say or put into print. I feel the hosts share a little bit more “inside baseball” than what we usually get from the startup/investment publications/blogs. Dig the short episodes that I don’t have to commit too much time to, still get a burst of entertainment.
  • jemstone99
    Dedicated listener
This podcast 💯 makes me a better investor, especially in my focus area of edtech + female founders. And so enjoyable to listen to! Great work and thank you.
  • Milkop
    Supports Fake News
Stands by and supports false information being spread.
  • pvbando
Great show. Wish they had more breadth
Love listening to this show. There is good banter and I usually learn a bunch. My only critique is they seem to exclusively cover specific kinds of tech startups. I wish they covered more on biotech startups.

    You guys are great!
Awesome way to get up to speed on what’s happening in VC , the market, and meaningful growth companies out there. Plus, none of you have annoying voices! That is much appreciated.

Great learning tool while enjoying the experience
I’ve recently become more interested in entrepreneurship, tech, and the VC space and this has been a great and fun resource for me to become more familiar with the industry. Listening to their podcasts is enjoyable while I’m still able to hear upcoming startups and VC firms I’ve never heard before and do research on the ones that pique my interest. Great job team and look forward to future episodes!
  • ProductDude101
    Annoying
The hosts are sarcastic and not very clever, though they obviously think they are
  • AdrianHorning
    Less commenting on politics 🙏
Love the news updates, but don’t appreciate the commentating on political/social issues. Just give me the facts and comment on the actual startup news/deals, that’s why I’m listening to the show 😅 Glad you guys have those opinions, but maybe best to share on a different forum
  • Wcchoi
    Informative and fun
It’s clear that the team know tech startups — why each matters and not just because of valuations. They are also fond of each other and that too matters: their warm conversational style makes their insights and news that much more enjoyable to hear.
  • Adrian187463993
    Great
Love the show so funny and informative
  • Mjstocker93
    Ruined by Natasha / politics
Have listened since the beginning every week. Natasha’s morbid and hysterical appeal about Trump’s taxes and her effective endorsement on behalf of the show for Joe Biden was both embarrassing for the show and inappropriate. I don’t think founders listen to this show to hear liberal reporters complain about Trump and flout nonsense NYT reporting. There’s enough of that on CNN and the rest of the liberal news. TechCrunch should be ashamed. There are a lot of conservative founders whether you wish to accept it or not and you’re alienating all of us. Deleting equity for good.
  • Oetzi.g
    Love the Show
This is one of the few podcasts that I listen to regularly. Team and content are both great -they do a good job of staying on topic with some (appreciated) personality injected. Highly recommended!
